Notes: The Fuel Cuda's Barracuda body was mounted on a conventional "slingshot" dragster chassis (with the driver sitting where the rear window used to be) in the fashion of Garlits' Dart roadster. - RT; A feature article about Grassi's '66 match race "Fuel Cuda" stated it would debut for the very first time on Mar. 25, 1967, at Puyallup Dragway. There is no indication that it ever ran in 1966, as Grassi and Rich Rogers were going to get acquainted with its handling in spring 1967. "It'll take a while to break the car in," said Grassi in mid-March 1967. "The first big factor will be learning the car's handling characteristics." The car was unpainted when it was photographed on Mar. 17, 1967, by Wayne Zimmerman for the Tacoma News Tribune feature article. Photo: Tacoma News Tribune, Mar. 18, 1967 - MB |
