Notes: Qualified #2 at ADRA Spokane 8/86 at 5.770/256.41. | Gary qualified #15 at the NHRA Cajun Nationals with a 6.953/155.97. In the first round, his 7.491/134.08 lost to Tim Grose's 5.89/231. At Columbus, for the NHRA Springnationals, his 6.215/243.70 qualified #14, but he crashed in qualifying and burned the car to the ground. Alternate Jim White took his place in the field. The team rebuilt and finished the year. They returned at Indy, where a 5.951/247.52 did not qualify. Those were Gary's best NHRA numbers. Originally listed 5.735/259.86 for this year. We are replacing those numbers with the Spokane numbers until we can confirm. Photo from Indy 1986.

Notes: Photo from Pop Rod 82. Got Miller Sponsorship late in the year, kept gold-orange colors, went to "Warrior" name due to competitor brewery's eagle on its logo. | Pulde started the season at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He qualified #5 with a 6.04/240.64. Both he and opponent Mike Dunn had problems in their first-round race and Mike's 7.48/225 beat Dale's 7.66/110.11. Surprisingly, Pulde failed to qualify for the eight-car field at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he again qualified #5, this time with a 6.07/238.09. An off pace 6.43/224.43 lost to Paul Smith's 6.31/233 in the first round. Things went more Dale's way the following week (March 21) at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. There, he qualified for the eight-car show and went on to beat John Pott in the final with a 6.26/238.09 (Top Speed). Another win came in April at an eight-car show in Atlanta. There, he set Low ET in the final with a 5.99 to beat Bob Hilton in the "Custom Body" Omni. The next time he was in Atlanta his 6.17/226.13 failed to qualify for the eight-car field at the NHRA Southern Nationals. Rockingham hosted IHRA's second event of the year, the Pro-Am Championships, on May 2. Pulde qualified for the show, but in the first round, against Kenny Bernstein, he had a motor let go on the line. At Bristol, for the IHRA Springnationals, Dale lost in round two. The next stop was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. It was an eight-car field and Pulde's 6.13/237.45 qualified #4. But in the first round, his fuel switch malfunctioned, and he shut off giving Gary Burgin a solo into the semifinal. NHRA's next race was the Springnationals at National Trail. Dale qualified #7 with a 6.07/238.72, and he beat Mike Dunn in the first round, before losing to Al Segrini in the second. The following week (June 20), he was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. A 6.03 qualified #7 in the eight-car field, and he beat Segrini in the first round, and in the semifinals, his 6.29 stopped Raymond Beadle's 6.31 in the "Blue Max.” This put Dale into the final against Tom Anderson. Dale picked up the win with a 6.04. He didn't have to wait long before he got himself another victory as he went to Maple Grove for the Super Stock Magazine Nationals on June 27 and won that too. There he ran 6.59/212.76 and 6.39/217.39 to stop John Speelman and Tim Grose in the first two rounds (eight-car field), then in the final he faced John Pott driving Larry Coogle's "Sting.” Larry got crossed up and Pulde got another win with a 6.33/205.94. Dale’s best NHRA national event times of the year came at the Indy Nationals, where he qualified #9 at 5.922/245.23, but lost in round one, to Don Prudhomme. He was runner up to Rob Williams at the Division 4 event at Green Valley, TX, 6.36/222 to Dale’s shutting off 6.51/155. Best times were 5.922/245.23 in qualifying at Indy. Dale also went 5.936 and 5.99 at NHRA Fremont.

Notes: Paul started his season at Beeline Dragway for the AHRA Winternationals. It was a 32-car field, and 75 cars were attempting to qualify. It was still surprising that he failed to qualify. He also was unable to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He was at Fremont for the AHRA Northern Nationals, where he ran a solo 7.07/171 to advance in the opening round when Mart Higginbotham lost his brakes and could not stage. But he fouled against "Jungle Jim" Liberman in round two. The following week (March 18), he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. Paul's 6.57/213.44 qualified #10. His 6.680/222.22 fell to Ron Colson's 6.48/223 in the "Chi-Town Hustler" in the first round. In April, he had one of the six cars at Englishtown for a round-robin race. He won his first race when Jake Crimmins got out of shape in the "Swensen and Lani" car. In his second race, he faced Jake again, and Radici's 7.13/194.13 beat Jake, who blew his engine at 7.62/198. He was at Columbus on May 13 for the second NHRA Division Three race. He qualified #5 in the eight-car field, setting up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Russell Long. Radici's Vega got out of shape in their race, and he shut down at 9.72 while Russell advanced at 7.00. Paul was the fifth alternate at NHRA Columbus at 71.1/203.61. Also, in June, he went to New England Dragway for its Spring Funny Car Championships. It was a sixteen-car show, and a 6.75/204 in the opening round beat Larry Fullerton's quicker 6.70 in the "Trojan Horse." In round two, he defeated Dick Rosberg's 6.80/213 in the "Fighting Irish" with a 6.76/206. Unfortunately, he hurt the engine on that pass and could not return for the semifinal. He was "unlucky" enough to qualify #5 at the third NHRA Division Three race at Milan. In the opening round of eliminations, low qualifier Al Bergler ran 6.76/218 to beat his 6.88/211. If he had been "unlucky" there, he had luck on his side at Beech Bend for its Independence Day Funny Car Championships. It was an eight-car show, and in round one, his 7.08/167.59 advanced when Gene Snow broke on the line. In the semifinal, he had a close race with Gary Henderson, who was driving the "Super Duster." Paul's 7.00/175.71 beat Gary's 7.03/195. He faced Don Cain in the final. Cain had run .95 and 6.85 to reach the final, so he looked like a sure bet to win. But Radici pulled one out of the hat in the final, as his 6.86/188.28 took the victory over Cain's 6.88/208. Shortly after that (July 29), he got another triumph at the fourth NHRA Division Three race held at Tri-City Dragway. He qualified #1 for the eight-car field with a 6.65, and since the field was short, he got the "odd-lot" solo in the opening round. He got out of shape in the semifinal and shut off to 9.19, but he still won as his opponent, Al Bergler, also lost it and slid off the track. In the final, he appeared to be the "underdog" again as he faced the "Jeg's" Camaro driven by Dale Emery. But Paul set Low ET in the final to win with a 6.54 at 209.30 that beat Emery's 6.61/221. He also qualified #1 at the NHRA Grandnationals, where his 6.627/217.39 held for Low ET. He beat alternate Stan Bowman's 7.33/209 in round one, with a 6.952/213.77. In the semifinal, he had transmission problems, and his low gear only 7.330/192.71, lost to Frank Mancuso's 6.77/203. Paul was the 16th alternate at NHRA Indy at 6.63/222.77. Radici was the #5 qualifier on the Eastern Team and #9 overall at the Amarillo NHRA World Finals. He lost in round one to eventual runner-up Bobby Rowe, 6.70/218 to 6.80/197.36. That was the team's last NHRA national event for the year.

Notes: Rogers was at Firebird Raceway on August 13 for the sixth annual Night Fire 500. His 7.19/187 beat a tire-smoking Ed McCulloch in the opening round of eliminations. He got a "bye-run" in the second round. In the final, he faced Mike Miller, and the "Green Elephant" transmission broke. Mike ran an easy 7.48 for the victory. The following weekend, the team was at Portland International for the NHRA Division Six final. Unfortunately, an off-pace 6.70/218.44 in the first round lost to eventual winner Raymond Beadle's 6.43/211 in the "Blue Max." Shortly after that, Rogers was at Spokane for the AHRA World Finals. His 6.88/215.30 in the first round lost to Tom Hoover's 6.51/210. Richard qualified Jim Green's Vega #12 at Indy at 6.216/225.56. In round one, he beat Eddie Pauling, 6.311/226.70 to 6.91/169. Richard bested a fouling Al Segrini with a 9.24 coaster in round two. He took out Gary Burgin in the semis with a 6.548/216.86 to Burgins's troubled 8.18. Richard was up against world-beating Don Prudhomme in the final. The team got a solid run at 6.585/205.47, but Prudhomme's 6.24/236 was out of reach. Richard qualified #11 at NHRA Seattle at 6.680/216.86. He fell off to a 10-second shutoff in round one that sent Gary Cochran's 6.89 into the next round. Those were the team's only two NHRA national event appearances this year. Richard also ran 6.70 at Portland.

Notes: Clare replaced Arnie Behling as the Ramchargers driver for 1973. He started his NHRA tour as the firth alternate at Gainesville (times not available but slower than 6.75). On April 28, he was at Capitol for an eight-car show. All cars there were to run two races with the two cars with the lowest ET's meeting in the final. Sanders ran 6.54/189 in his first race, but he lost to a quick-leaving Tommy Grove, who won with a 6.56/216. In his second race, he beat Bobby Rowe's off-pace 7.33/224 with a 6.73/189. Neither of his times qualified him for the final. Clare qualified #13 at National Trail for the NHRA Springnationals at 6.894/216.86. In the first round, he slowed to 7.104/213.77, which lost to Dale Emery's 6.63/209. At Bristol the following week (June 17) for the IHRA Springnationals, he qualified #2 with a 6.71. Unfortunately, he lost to Ron Colson in the "Chi-Town Hustler" in the first round. Sanders looked like a sure bet to win at Englishtown on July 4. He beat Jim Liberman in the first round, with a 6.68/215.31, and in the semifinals, his 6.88/211.26 beat the "Boston Shaker." In the final, he was up against Lew Arrington in the "Brutus" Mustang, but he broke a blower pulley and could not run, giving Arrington a solo for the win. Shortly after this, he was at York US 30 for a best of three match race against Liberman. In their first race, Sanders' 6.92/198.23 beat Jim's tire-smoking 7.30/170. In the second race, Clare got severely out of shape and shut off while Liberman legged it through at 7.19/192. With the score now even, they had their "rubber" match. Clare got the win with his 7.32/216.34 topping "Jungle's" 7.50/206. Sanders was at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships in August. All cars ran the first-round, with the lowest eight ETs advancing into round two. Clare's 6.49/218.97 easily got him into round two, where he beat Jim Nicoll's 6.66/210 with a 6.58/222.77. But in the semifinals, he fell off to a 6.93/209.79 loss to eventual winner Don Prudhomme's 6.72/201. Almost 50 cars were attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals. Sanders' 6.410/225.13 got him the #7 spot for the show. But in the opening round, former "Ramchargers" driver Leroy Goldstein ran 6.37/229 to beat Clare's 6.522/225.00. He reportedly also ran 6.39 and 230.17 this year in addition to a 6.34/219.73 at Lebanon Valley.

Notes: Al started the season by qualifying #3 at the NHRA Winternationals at 5.862/255.68. His speed was a new Pomona track record. He went on to win the race by first beating a blower popping John Collins with a 5.904/246.57 and then running 5.929/250.69 over a tire-smoking John Lombardo. In the semifinals, both he and John Force were on and off the load pedal in a tire-smoking contest that saw the "Super Brut" come out on top, 6.507/229.59 to 6.72/242. In the final, he ran Tim Grose. It was a good race, and Segrini won with a 5.967/234.98 over Tim's 6.03/247. At the NHRA Gatornationals, a 5.881/248.61 qualified #7. He advanced past the first-round with a 12.81/56.07 when opponent Dale Pulde broke. He lost to Billy Meyer in the second round, 6.17/226 to a 9.73. He then went to Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. He qualified #9 with a 6.09. Unfortunately, he lost early. NHRA's next event was the Southern Nationals at Atlanta, and Al qualified #8 at 5.903/250.69. He beat a coasting Mike Dunn in round one, 5.900/246.57, but lost to Grose in an incredible second-round matchup, 5.945/243 to 5.945 (no speed). Grose's .542 to .557 starting line advantage made the difference. Al qualified #15 at NHRA's Cajun Nationals at 6.118/239.36 and surprised Raymond Beadle in round one, 6.200/220.58 to 9.29. Al lost to Jim Head in round two. Head got no times but finished ahead of Al's 7.71/250.69. Strange! Bristol was his next stop for the IHRA Springnationals. He ran well, but he lost to Denny Savage in round two. Things didn't go so well at the NHRA Springnationals, where his best of 6.025/247.93 failed to qualify (first alternate). He did better at the NHRA Grandnationals, where he qualified #13 in a short 14-car field at 6.252/232.88, but he lost to Dale Pulde in round one, 5.94/233 to 6.053/236.84. Segrini qualified on the "bump" at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals at 6.043/247.93, but another first-round loss came at the hands of Mike Dunn, 5.88/250 to 5.990/246.57. Al qualified #12 at 6.009/242.58. In round one, he lost to Pulde, 5.93/249 to a 13-second shutoff. Al's 5.874/250.69 grabbed the #10 slot at Indy, but again he lost a close one in round one, to Ed McCulloch, 5.86/248 to 5.885/244.56. That was Al's last NHRA national event in the Super Brut car. He began racing with Joe Pisano in the post-season and into 1985. Photo from 1984 Cajun Nationals. Formerly listed 5.765 for this year. Did Al run that somewhere off the NHRA tour? Removing that until we get validation.

Notes: Dave was at Tri-City in June for a six-car race. All cars were to make two runs, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. In the first race, his 6.84/212.26 lost to Tom Prock's 6.40/221. In his second race, he improved to 6.46/224.43 to defeat Ron Colson in the "Hawaiian." Unfortunately, his time was not good enough to advance to the final. His next stop was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. A 6.29 qualified second to Denny Savage's 6.28. He lost fire in the first round, giving his opponent, Les Cassidy, a solo into round two. In July, he was at Milan Dragway for the IHRA Northern Nationals. Settles' 6.13 qualified #1 for the eight-car field. Another strong run of 6.14/217.91 beat Al Bergler's 6.44/216 in the opening round, but in the semifinals, Tom Anderson's 6.12/229 beat his 6.17/215.32. Qualified 4th at Indy but lost to John Lombardo's big-time step-up run of 6.057 in round one. Stock stroke motor. Photo from IRP (Indy). - MO

Notes: This car was the record holder for AA/A performance at 6.82/202.54 at US 131, Martin, Michigan, 6/77. Where did it run 202.80? The top of the body was "not" fiberglass. It was tin work, done by Ron Boggs, five color painted & acid dipped. | Ron Boggs owned the 23T, and John Carter owned the 417 Donovan engine. When Poison was on the side of this car, it was Boggs and Carter. When Poison came off, Ron Boggs owned the whole operation. - Jerry Baum | Ran 6.80 at Martin, 6.75 at Columbus, 6.89 at Englishtown, 6.76 at Indy. The 6.75 was recorded as the season-best in Greg Zyla's Vallco drag racing game with an average of 6.81.
