Notes: We need to confirm that Dempsey ran these times in this car. When events and cars are confirmed for 1987, check DragStats to ensure we have the right car, times matched up. Ran 7.70/182.22 at NHRA Grandnational Molson 1987. Dempsey ran several DNQs at NHRA events this year. The Ennis and Pomona Finals times were the best. |

Notes: Mark qualified in the unlucky #9 spot at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.52/184.16. Why was it unlucky? Before 1990, the number one qualifier faced the number nine qualifier on down the line. So in the first round, low qualifier Bob Glidden sent Pawuk home. At the NHRA Gatornationals, Mark was the second alternate with a best of 7.54/183.48. He made the show at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals where his 7.55/182.70 qualified #11. He fouled away a 7.55 in the first round, against Bruce Allen who won with a 7.46. At the NHRA Cajun Nationals, he was the first alternate with a 7.68/185.60. He did much worse at the NHRA Springnationals where his 7.71/181.12 was good for the ninth alternate. Mark ran 7.702/181.08 at the NHRA Grandnational Molson. |

Notes: Stan was the third alternate at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.57/182.37. That wasn't too bad, considering that 47 cars were attempting to qualify. At Gainesville, for the NHRA Gatornationals, he was the eighth alternate at 7.58/179.92. Near the end of May, he was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He ended up as the ninth alternate with a 7.75/179.42. Things went much better at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, where his 7.61/177.90 qualified #13. In the opening round of eliminations, he beat Nick Nikolis' 7.70/181 with a 7.67/180.90. In round two, his 7.65/181.59 fell to eventual winner Bob Glidden's 7.52/185. Ran 7.742/182.81 at NHRA Grandnational Molson 87, which was good for the sixth alternate. At Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, he was the eighth alternate with a 7.62/181.95 best. He did not go to Denver for the Mile High Nationals, but he did go to Brainerd for the Northstar Nationals, where his 7.70/176.95 was the fourth alternate. He then made the trip to Indy for the US Nationals. It was a tough show as 52 cars attempted to qualify for the sixteen-car field. He did better than 23 of them, but his 7.60/186.18 was still only good enough for the thirteenth alternate. His next stop was at Maple Grove for the Keystone Nationals. A best of 7.59/181.48 left him as the ninth alternate for the show. He ran well at Texas for the Chief Nationals. Stan's 7.44/184.80 qualified #12, but he lost to Jerry Eckman in the opening round. He was the second alternate at the Fallnationals with a 7.61/183.37 best, and at the World Finals at Pomona, his 7.50/183.78 was the second alternate for the show. |
