Notes: On January 23, Ray was runner-up at the second OCIR All-Pro race. He beat Gary Burgin's 6.94/210 in the first round, with a 6.85/205.94. In the semifinals, a 6.85/209.79 beat Jake Johnston in Gene Snow's second car. An off-pace 7.28 in the final lost to Snow's track record 6.57. At the Bakersfield March Meet, he lost to Leroy Chadderton driving the "Hawaiian" in the first round. The "Hawaiian" got him again in the first round, at the final OCIR All-Pro race on March 25. On May 6, he was at OCIR's Big Four Championships. Bob Pickett fouled against him in the first round, but in round two, his engine exploded while running a winning 7.22/184.80. He won his race, but received minor burns and was unable to return for round three (32 car show). He was at Lions a couple of weeks later for the second annual Funny Car Festival. An opening round 7.15/192.71 beat Mert Littlefield, but he lost soon after. Alley was back at OCIR for the Hang Ten meet where his 7.05/189.47 in the first round, lost to Joe Lee's 6.95/209.
