Notes: At the end of August, Parmer had his Pinto at Maple Grove. Two FC's and two Top Fuel dragsters were there to help raise funds for the "Jade Grenade" team to fix their dragster and ran it at Indy. Bob ran a best of 6.82/213.77 at the fundraiser. Bob was at Columbus on September 29 for the National Dragster Open. He qualified #7 in the eight-car field, and his troubled 8.27 in the opening round lost to Al Bergler's 7.07. |

Notes: Owner-built chassis, modeled on Logghe design. At Atco's New Jersey State Championships on August 10, Ken drove his Corvair to a runner-up finish in the eight-car show. He got past Jim Liberman when Jim lost a rear end in the first round. Ken ran an 8.31/177 for the win. In the second round, Al Swensen lost a transmission, so Ken advanced again, running an 8.16/174. Unfortunately, he lost a motor in the final, giving Paula Murphy an easy run for the victory. On September 6, he raced at Great Meadows for a four-car round-robin race. In the first race, he beat Kevin Smith with an 8.62/168.86. He singled with a 9.77/148.03 in his second race when Swensen failed to fire. In the third race, he made it three straight wins when he ran an 8.65/158.45 over Bruce Bohen's Buick. A feature from a magazine article stated the Ken had run a best of 7.81/188 with the Corvair in '69. |

Notes: Tom was at Miami for a best of three match race against Bobby Rowe driving the "Super Duster" in February. The first race was won by Rowe's 7.11/205 over Sneden's 7.21/206.42. In the second race, Rowe got out of shape and shut off while Tom set both ends of the track record with a winning 7.04/211.76. In the final and deciding race, the roles were reversed from the previous one. Tom got out of shape and shut it down to 12.84/64.70, while Bobby matched Tom's track record with a 7.04 of his own at 207 to win the match. At the end of May, Tom was at Atco Dragway for a best of three match against Connie Kalitta. It was not a good showing for the "Bob Banning" car. It broke in the first race. Sneden's best pass was a 7.26/199.55 in the second race, losing to Kalitta's 7.05/189. In the final race, his off pace 7.94/145.16 gave Kalitta a three straight victory. | Iron block hemi and TorqueFlite. The team replaced this Logghe frame car with a Woody Gilmore car in '72. - BM |

Notes: Swensen was at Englishtown in September for its Fallnationals. In the first round, his 7.86/180 beat Gary Richard's "Black Shadow," but Arne hurt some parts and could not return for the semifinal. Shortly after that, he was at Atco for the final NHRA Division One race. He made it to the final, where he lost to Fred Goeske. Also confirmed 7.72 at Englishtown 1970. | Early (392) hemi/TorqueFlite combo. Featured in 1/71 issue of Super Stock & Funny Car. The article claimed unattributed best times (late in '70 season) of "7.40s and speeds of 193 mph." - RT |

Notes: Never worked - too high & light, but beautiful. Doug faced Don Nicholson in a best of three match race on May 22 at Martin, Michigan's US 131. Don won two straight over the Nova with Thorley running a best of 9.72/142. The little Nova did better on June 4 against Dick Jesse's GTO at York's US 30. It was a best of five match and in the first race Doug ran 9.21/146.87 over Jesse who broke a rear axle. In the second race, a 10.06/138.03 beat the "Unswitchable's" 10.24/143. The third race was a close one with the Pontiac's 10.22/136 beat Doug's 10.24/137.40. Thorley fouled in the fourth race and Jessie went into a wheelstand and crossed the center line. The fifth race was never run due to a curfew. The following day (June 5) saw Thorley at Atco for a best of three match against Phil Bonner. This was not a good match for Doug. He shut off in the first race due to a wheelstand. In the second race his 9.63/149 lost to Bonner's 9.29/148 and Phil won the third race as well. |
