Notes: Carden gained national recognition in the '59 season when he won the B/D class at the U.S. Nationals at Detroit Dragway, beating a field of 37 B dragsters. He also set both ends of the national record for B/D with 10.10 at 140.27 mph. It was reported that he owned Helena Drag Strip in Alabama. He took Top Eliminator victories at Helena on January 4 (128.20 mph) and March 8 (130.61 mph). He took a TE win at Burnt Valley Drag Strip in Ragland, Alabama, on May 3. At the 2-day Southeastern Regionals at Sebring Air Terminal in Florida, he took a C/D class win with 11.64 at 121.29 mph.
