Notes: After running a Chrysler-engined A/SR in 1957, Sonny built a dragster in 1959. In his first outing on April 19 at the Salt Lake Airport, he took runner-up honors in top eliminator, clocking 107 mph. He also got top eliminator runner-up honors on May 3 and June 28. But this began a long career of racing dragsters over 30 years. Photo: Salt Lake Tribune, May 3, 1959 - MB |
