Notes: The team of Bill Butters and Don Porterfield ran a succession of Deuces (a coupe and a roadster) and dragsters under the Groh's Texaco (Rivera, Calif.) banner throughout the Fifties. I have dated pics of this car running at the second NHRA Nationals (Kansas City, Mo.) in 1956. Unclear whether the roadster ran a flathead or OHV Caddy mill (photos show three pipes per side). - RT; Drag News report of Colton race results (10/19/56) states they ran a Merc.
