Notes: On May 17, Dekker was at Frontier International for the AHRA Grand American race. It was a sixteen-car field, and in round one, his 7.73/191.89 beat Dale Armstrong's 7.93/188. But in the second round, his 7.85/191.48 lost to eventual winner Gene Snow's 7.47. He was at Amarillo Dragway on September 13 for the NHRA Division Four final. A 7.72 qualified second to Jake Johnston's 7.46 in the "Blue Max." These two would meet in the final, where Johnston's 7.30 would get the win. John qualified the 'Cuda #12 at Ontario for the NHRA Supernationals with a 7.212. Unfortunately, he lost to Gene Snow's 6.95 Low ET blast in the first round. John also ran at the AHRA Grand Nationals at Oklahoma City in 1970. |
