Notes: This car was literally put together in the pits at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals by Mike Hamby and Dale Pulde. On the car's maiden run, Dale ran 6.10/183. After some adjustments to the spoiler, he came back out and ran 6.01/247. On his first official qualifying pass and third run ever on the car, Pulde blasted it to a 5.91/252.80. On Saturday, he ran an amazing 5.76/263 in the heat of the day (85 degrees). Then during the "Night of Fire," Dale ran 5.69/256.41 to take the pole. Pulde went on to win by beating Jim Head in the first round, with a 5.71/260. He ran 5.68/260 in the second round to beat John Collins. Another 5.69 at 257 beat Kenny's quicker 5.66 (Low ET) at 258 in the semifinal. In the final, he ran Don Prudhomme. The "Snake" broke on the line, and Pulde took the victory. They next towed to Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, where a 5.97/252.38 qualified #13. He beat Tim Grose in the first round, with a 5.86/251. In the second round, Pulde's tire-smoking 6.56/152.18 lost to Bernstein's 5.74/249. The "High Life Warrior" picked up another win at Maple Grove for the Super Stock Nationals. Dale qualified #1 with a 5.66/249.30. A first-round 5.84/236.84 beat Dominic Santucci, and in the semifinals, he beat Joe Amato's 5.98/221 with a 5.70/249.30. In the final, he beat Bernstein with a 5.90/247.25. He then went to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals. Only 15 cars showed for the sixteen-car field, so qualifying wasn't much of an issue. Still, Dale ran 5.89/253.23 to qualify #12. Ed McCulloch fouled against him in the opening round, and he advanced with a 5.82/248.48. But in round two, he smoked the tires once again and lost to Don Prudhomme. The following week (July 7), he was at Milan, Michigan, for the IHRA Northern Nationals. He qualified #1, and his 5.78/252 beat Tim Grose's 5.85/233 for yet another victory in the final. The next stop was at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. A 5.71/249 qualified #5, and in round one, his 5.78 advanced when Ron Correnti shut off with problems. But in round two, the car went into a wheelstand, and he lost to eventual winner Bernstein. He then went to St. Louis for the IHRA Gateway Nationals, and he bagged that one as well, stopping John Pott in the final. He then went to Denver for the NHRA Mile High Nationals. Pulde qualified #1 by resetting both ends of the track record with a 5.73/251.39. He ran 5.87/238.09 he beat Jim Head in the opening round. A round two 5.83/244.56 beat Rick Johnson's 6.04/229 in the "Hawaiian." Another 5.83 at 245.23 stopped a tire-smoking John Force in the semifinal. Once again, he faced the red and white "Budweiser King" of Bernstein in the final. The two had a great race that saw Pulde's 5.81/250.69 come out second best to Kenny's 5.79/245. | At the NHRA Castrol GTX Keystone Nationals at Maple Grove, Pulde qualified #2 with a 5.612/255.24. He Defeated #10 qualifier Graeme Cowin in round 1 with a 5.651/251.53 & #6 qualifier John Force in round 2 with a 5.722/246.44, but lost to #8 qualifier & eventual winner Tim Grose in the Semis. | Photo from Milan, MI, 1985.

Notes: Paul qualified on the "bump" at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 6.66/197.80. He shut down to 8.50/110.15 in a first-round loss to Pat Foster. He was at the NHRA Division 3 Opener at Indianapolis, and while he didn't win or even make the finals, Paul set Top Speed at 217.39. In May, he was at Lebanon Valley for an eight-car show. In the first round, he beat Joe Jacono but got out of shape and shut off in the semifinals against Kosty Ivanof. He came back out later and beat the "Frantic Ford" in a consolation race with a 6.84/165.70. Paul won the Capitol Raceway Coke meet with a 6.70 best. In Sept, he was at OCIR for its East vs. West Championships. A 12.4 second time is all he needed to win his first race when Jake Johnston lost the brakes in the "Keeling and Clayton" car and could not stage. In his second race, he beat Gary Densham with a 6.73/202.70, but he fouled against eventual winner Jim Dunn in his third race. Paul did have Top Speed of the Meet at 208.33. Paul qualified 8th at the 1974 NHRA World Finals/Supernationals with a 6.43/217.91 and lost in the first round, to Tom McEwen. Also ran 6.54 at IRP.

Notes: Ran 6.87 at Seattle. Formerly listed 6.26/236, but that seems very quick and fast (in fact, the highest speed this year). If the numbers were run, they probably occurred in a later year. Removing them until we get confirmation. Ran 6.85/185.18 at OCIR late in 1974.

Notes: Bryan qualified for his first NHRA National event at Pomona for the Winternationals. His 6.270/230.17 qualified #15 and in the opening round his 6.37/228.42 beat Gordie Bonin's quicker 6.34/228.42. He faced Don Prudhomme in round two and was shut off on the line with an oil leak. A 6.663/199.55 qualified #15 at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, but in the first round, Tom McEwen's 6.42/216 beat his 6.47/220.58. The following week (March 15), he was at OCIR for an eight-car show. Fourteen Funny Car's attempted to qualify for the eight-car field and Raines' 6.43/227.84 qualified #7. In the first round his 6.34/227.27 beat a tire-shaking Tom McEwen who shut off, but unfortunately, Bryan lost in the semifinals. Video shows a run from OCIR on 4/25/81 on a 7.36/181 traction-free run. Bryan was the tenth alternate at NHRA Indy at 6.280/224.43. That was his last NHRA national event of the year.

Notes: The Pisano team did not hit the NHRA trail until Indy in 1981. They put the new Omni on the bump at 6.090/231.95, but lost round one to Jim Dunn, 6.166/228.42 to their shutting off 13.855/38.84. The team found their mojo at the Golden Gate Nationals, however, qualifying number two at 5.946/239.99, and winning round one over Billy Meyer, 6.020/234.98 to 6.310/187.50. A 6.530/161.57 beat a broken Jim Dunn in round two, but the team fell to eventual winner Mike Dunn in the semis, 6.130/237.46 to 7.250/127.29. The team claimed the bump spot at the Orange County World Finals at 6.202/226.13. They then upset Craig Epperly in round one, 6.696/214.70 to 12.337/57.87, before falling to eventual runner-up Dale Pulde in round two, 6.085/233.16 to 6.335/233.16. Formerly listed 243.24. We need to validate that the team went that fast in 1981.

Unfortunately, he lost early. At Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, Dick's 6.250/231.95 qualified #10, but an opening round 6.357/212.76 lost to Raymond Beadle's 6.13/231 in the "Blue Max." At the end of July, he was at Dragway 42 for the AHRA Grandnationals. It was an eight car show and he lasted until the semi-finals, where he smoked the tires and lost to Don Prudhomme. Rosberg was at New England in August for the NHRA Division 1 Final. He qualified #1 for the eight-car field with a 6.23/230.17 (Top Speed) and an easy 6.50/211.79 advanced in the first round when George Johnson fouled. In the semifinals, he beat Jimmy King with a 6.32/220.50, but he broke on the run and was unable to run in the final against Al Bergler. He was the third alternate at Indy for the NHRA U.S. Nationals with a 6.150/235.60 best.

Notes: Don started the season by qualifying #4 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 6.46/214.28. In the first round, an off pace 6.76/212.76 lost to John Collins' 6.51/198. At the Gatornationals, he qualified #3 on Saturday with a 6.57, but he had the Vega body come off the chassis and crash down onto the track. It broke into two pieces just behind the rear wheel well. Don and his crew repaired the body in time for eliminations on Sunday. He beat Harry Hudson, Al Segrini, and Al Bergler on his way to the final to meet Don Prudhomme. In the final, his 6.74 lost to the "Snake's" 6.38. Schumacher was running strong at Fremont for the AHRA Northern Nationals. He qualified #1 with a 6.39/225.00 and another 6.39 at 218.97 beat Leroy Goldstein's 6.69 in the first round. Unfortunately, he lost fire in the second round, giving eventual winner Tom McEwen a single into the semifinals. On April 6, he was at OCIR for the AHRA Grand American race. It was a sixteen-car show, and in the first round, he beat Mert Littlefield with a 6.73/212.76. In round two, a 6.89/192.71 beat Gene Snow's 6.92/208. But in the semifinals, Jim Dunn's 6.83/205 beat his 6.92/209.30. He was at Irwindale for the Coca-Cola Funny Car Championships in April. It was a 32 car show, and Don's 6.86 in the first round beat Ron Williams' Pinto, but an off-pace 7.17 in the second round lost to Bob Pickett's 6.75 in the "Lil Demon." He qualified #2 at the NHRA Springnationals with a 6.43/225.00 (Top Speed). Schumacher was upset in the first round, where his 6.93/215.82 lost to eventual winner Snow's 6.67/205. Don's best NHRA times were 6.320 at Englishtown and 231.36 at Indy.

Notes: Al didn't start the season the way he would have liked as he failed to qualify at the NHRA Winternationals. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he qualified #11 with a 5.98/239.36 but lost to John Force in the first round. Atlanta held an eight-car show near the end of March, and Al qualified #1 with a 5.95 (Low ET) at 237.46. A 6.03/233 in the first round, beat Ron Correnti, and he got past the semifinals to meet Mark Oswald in the "Candies and Hughes" car for the title. Al got the victory. He was back in Atlanta on April 17 for the NHRA Southern Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and Segrini qualified #7 with a 5.96/243.90. He made his way into the final by beating Tom McEwen and John Lombardo. There he was to face Frank Hawley in the "Chi-Town Hustler." Al ran a good 6.07/214.28, but he lost to Hawley's better 5.99/240. The next NHRA race was the Cajun Nationals held at Baton Rouge. It was another eight-car show, and Al ran 6.04/238.84 to qualify #6. An opening round 6.07/240.00 took out McEwen's 6.11/234, and in the semifinal, a 6.00/241.28 stopped Kenny Bernstein at 6.26/226. He went up against Oswald in the final, and Segrini had things in hand as his 6.11/243.90 got the victory over Mark's 6.17/241. He then went to Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, where he qualified #7 in the eight-car show. Unfortunately, the car broke on his burnout in the first round, giving his opponent, Raymond Beadle, in the "Blue Max," a free ride into the semifinal. His next stop was at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals. A 5.97/239.36 qualified #5. In round one, Al's 6.03/241.28 beat Lombardo's 6.10/236. But he had trouble in round two and shut down against eventual winner Beadle. He made the trip to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals, where his 6.08 qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car show. In the opening round of eliminations, he lost to Hawley, who ran a controversial 5.71. It was then off to Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. Segrini qualified #5 there with a 5.94/246.57. In round one, he ran 5.96/247.93 to beat Dale Pulde's 6.16, but a 6.11/243 in round two lost to Oswald's 5.92/249. He did not race at Denver for the NHRA Mile High Nationals. He was at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. His first-round 5.91/234.98 beat Dominic Santucci, but he was shut off on the line in round two with an oil leak. That advanced Prudhomme to the semifinals with a solo. The best times were 5.870 at the World Finals and 250.69 at Indy.

Notes: After Joe Pisano's car & trailer burned, Lombardo and Plueger sold this car to him. Formerly listed 5.735/255.68 for this year. Al ran 255.68 in the Super Brut Trans Am, but the 5.73 did not occur on the NHRA trail. Did the team run that quickly with this new car at the end of the year? Notes: Al started the '85 season by qualifying #10 at Pomona for the Winternationals with a 5.86/245.23. A first-round 5.82 beat Tim Grose's quicker 5.78. He beat Tom McEwen's 5.95 with a 5.94 in round two, and in the semifinals, a strong 5.79/253 beat Rick Johnson's 5.92/249 in the "Hawaiian." In the final, he faced Dale Pulde. Al ran his best time of the meet, a 5.78/227.96, to win over Pulde's 6.02/233. At the Gatornationals, Al qualified #8 with a 5.78/257.43. He slowed to a 6.16/203.16 in the first round, that lost to McEwen's 5.94/246. At Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals, Segrini ran 5.90/251.25 to qualify #6. He lost to John Collins in the first round. In May, he was at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships, but he lost to Don Prudhomme in the first round. Another first-round loss came at the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He qualified #14 with a 5.99/242.58 but lost when he smoked the tires against Mark Oswald. | Purchased from Lombardo, who ran it at the '84 Finals (JP-1 initial testing?) to a tire- hazing 6.12 best on Saturday, not sure if that was his event best. Notes: Tripp started the '80 season by attempting to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He failed to make the field, and his 6.23/242.58 was good for the third alternate. He competed at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet but failed to reach the late rounds. A week later (March 16), he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. He qualified #2 with a career-best (to this point) 6.023/241.28 (Top Speed of the Meet). Unfortunately, his steering broke in the first round, and he lost to Ron Colson in the "Hawaiian." He was at the NHRA Divisional race at Beeline, but he shut off to a 9.34 in the first round, and lost to Bob Pickett. On April 20, Shumake grabbed a big win at the IHRA Pro-Am Championships at Rockingham. Tripp qualified #4 in the eight-car field. An opening round 6.34 beat Al Baldwin, and in the semifinals, his 6.32 beat a tire-smoking Paul Smith who was driving Larry Coogle's "Sting." In the final, he ran an easy 7.24 when Dale Pulde broke a rear end in the "War Eagle." Baton Rouge hosted the NHRA Cajun Nationals the following week on April 27, and the eight-car field was a tough one to qualify in. Tripp just made it, qualifying on the "bump" with a 6.18/241.28. Non-qualifiers included Don Prudhomme, Raymond Beadle, and Pulde. In the first round, he beat Tom Hoover's 6.27 with a 6.25/234, but he smoked the tires in the semifinals and shut off, giving eventual winner Billy Meyer an easy (?) 6.32/226 ride into the final. He failed to qualify for the eight-car field at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. But he did make the show at the NHRA Springnationals. He lost to Ed McCulloch in the first round, after qualifying #6 with a 6.18/237.46. Tripp also failed to qualify at Denver for the NHRA Mile High Nationals. Shumake qualified #15 at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals with a 6.10/238.72, and in the opening round of competition, his 6.46/230.17 advanced over a tire-smoking Rob Williams. He lost to eventual winner Ed McCulloch in round two.

Notes: Ken had a bad weekend at Fremont in January for its sixth annual Nitro Bowl race. In the first round, he hit the guardrail in his race with Tommy Ivo. The damage was light, so he got the car ready for another race, but he blew the engine while making his burnout. Ken also used a Sid Waterman Hemi at times.

Notes: Jody ran 5.86/256.84 to qualify #11 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He might have qualified higher, but he had a blower explosion on his last attempt. He lost to John Force in the opening round of eliminations. At the NHRA Gatornationals, his 5.773/247.93 qualified #7. A off-pace 7.35/116.36 in the opening round lost to John Collins. The following week (March 24), he was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. He qualified #8 in the sixteen-car field but lost in round one. In April, he was one of twenty FC drivers attempting to qualify at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. His 5.99/246.44 qualified #13. In round one, he improved to 5.95/224.32 to beat John Force's 6.01/251. He got a little quicker in round two with a 5.92/241.41, but it wasn't enough to beat Kenny Bernstein's 5.80/249. Best NHRA national event times for 1985 were 5.773 at Gainesville and 256.84 at Pomona Winters. Did Jody run 5.68/258.62 away from the NHRA trail this year?
