Notes: Kuesel started the 1985 Season with the Omni at the NHRA Winternationals where Kuesel qualified #8 with a 6.661/209.69 & Faced #16 Qualifier Rick Henkelman in round 1 where Kuesel advanced with a 6.374/213.57 to Henkelman's losing 6.788/203.52. Kuesel then faced #4 Qualifier Steve McGee in round 2 where Kuesel ran a 6.553/211.16 Losing effort to the eventual Runner Up McGee's 6.487/220.58. Then at the Baylands East-West Challenge Kuesel qualified #5 but was unable to make eliminations. Then at Sacramento's Winter Classic Kuesel faced Wayne Stoeckel in round 1 where Kuesel won with a 6.58/212.27 to Stoeckel's losing 6.69/210.78. Kuesel then faced Mike Grieco in the semi finals where Kuesel won with a 6.49/211.77 to Grieco's quicker & Faster but losing 6.48/218.45. Kuesel would race Brad Anderson in the final, unfortunately Kuesel would blow the engine & start a fire 100 feet off the line. Kuesel & the car was uninjured. That was the last pass of the Omni before switching to the Mercedes. |
