Notes: Early in June, Bunny was in New England for an eight-car show. She lasted until the semifinal before her 7.26/178.21 lost to eventual winner Annie Karp's 6.67/207. Carol was at Maryland International on June 21 for the second NHRA Division One race. Her 7.22/189.47 qualified #4 in the eight-car field. In round one, her 7.25/189.67 advanced when Roberta Schultz fouled. Peter Gallen smoked the tires against her in the semifinals, and she ran 7.29/191.08 to win. Burkett faced low qualifier Frank Manzo in the final. Unfortunately, the tires broke loose, and her 8.04 finished runner-up to Manzo's 7.35. Burkett qualified #14 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with a 6.99/197.80. Her off-pace 7.42/189.47 in the opening round fell to Bruce Pillar's 6.95/201. Former Joe Petro car. |

Notes: Chris was at Firebird Raceway in Jan for the NHRA Division 6 Opener. He qualified #2 in the eight-car field with a 6.99/186.33. (It was cold and getting a hold of the track was tough for the alcohol Funny Car's unless your name was Brad Anderson). A first-round 7.38/155.44 beat Mike Reed, and in the semifinals, his 7.22/200.44 advanced when Jim Menoes broke. In the final, he was up against Anderson, who won with a 6.41/223 over Chris' 7.35/199.55. At Pomona, for the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified #9 with a 6.66/210.37. Unfortunately, that set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Anderson. Chris pushed the 'tree trying to get an advantage, but he fouled away a 6.61 while Brad advanced with a 6.36. He did not race at the Gatornationals, but on April 6, he was at the Coors Funny Car Championships. It was an eight-car show, and he beat Mike Shaw in round one, with a 6.79/202.24 while a 6.98/208.81 in the semifinal advanced when Jim Holtz crossed the centerline. Of course, "Bad Brad" was waiting for Christensen in the final, and once again, Anderson got the victory with a 6.66/215 over Chris' 6.81/206.89. Things didn't go too well at Famoso for the NHRA Division 6 race. Chris failed to qualify for the sixteen-car field. At the third NHRA Division 6 race at Fremont, his 6.60/208.81 qualified #9. Unlucky for him, as in round one, low qualifier, Anderson ran 6.34/223 to win while Christensen fouled away a 6.62/212.26. |

Notes: 1981 AAFCC runner-up. On April 5, Frank was at Green Valley for the NHRA Western Regional race. He qualified #2 with a 6.92/204.54. Another 6.92 at 205.94 beat Tommy Van Gossen in the first round, while a 6.88/195.22 advanced past a broken Gary Southern in the semifinals. This put Frank into the final against James Brown. It was a good race as both ran 6.89 (Cook at 206), but Frank got the victory. At the NHRA Cajun Nationals, he lost to Jerry Gwynn in the first round. Cook was the number 1 qualifier at the AAFCC race at Houston in November with 7.03, but lost in the first round. |
