Notes: Larry qualified #15 at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals with a career-best 8.583/156.52. He faced "Dyno Don" Nicholson in the first round, and the Duster ended up getting into its own oil and crashing into the guardrail. The car's front end was ripped off, but it appeared to be repairable. Larry was OK. That was his only NHRA national event appearance of the year. |

Notes: AHRA & NHRA Division 6. Gary was at the second NHRA Division 6 race in Seattle on May 4. He qualified #5 in the eight-car field with an 8.60, and in the first round, his 8.74 advanced when low qualifier Brad Yuill fouled in Dick Landy's Omni. Unfortunately, his Monza broke in the semifinals, advancing eventual winner Larry Johnson. Gary was at Jackson Country Sports Park for the NHRA Regional Wild Card race on September 7. He qualified #5 in the eight-car field with an 8.77/153.06. In the opening round of eliminations, his off pace 8.91/146.81 lost to Johnson's 8.63/156. Best NHRA national event times of 8.600/156.79 at the Fallnationals (went to second round). Also ran at the World Finals with 8.677/156.25 bests. |

Notes: Rivera qualified #13 with an 8.58/157.06 at the NHRA Winternationals. A first-round 8.62 lost to Paul Gentilozzi's 8.60. Gordie was the first alternate at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals with an 8.61/157.06 best. He was unfortunate enough to also be the first alternate at Fremont for the NHRA Golden Gate Nationals with an 8.550/158.45 best. His bad luck continued at OCIR for the NHRA World Finals, where he was the fourth alternate with a best of 8.62/156.52. |

Notes: Runner-up at the 1980 Winternationals, setting a new record. Photo from 1980 US Nationals. Kevin finished 4th in NHRA points in 1980, his best finish. Unfortunately, Kevin did not race in 1981 and did not get to show the big number 4 on his car. | Kevin had his best year in Pro Stock in '80. He started the year at the AHRA Winternationals, where he qualified #3 and lasted until the semifinals, where he lost to eventual winner Lee Shepherd. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified #1 with Low ET and Top Speed 8.492/161.57 (new NHRA speed record). Kevin beat a fouling Bill Jenkins in the first round, with an 8.62/157.34, and in the second round, Randy Humphrey also fouled against him. Rotty must have had everyone scared because, in the semifinals, Frank Iaconio was the third straight driver to foul against him. He met up with Lee Shepherd in the final, and unfortunately for Kevin, his Camaro broke a frame mount, giving Shepherd a solo for the victory. He was going to race at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, but it was rain-delayed, and he was unable to make the rain date. He continued to impress by qualifying #5 at the NHRA Gatornationals at 8.490/161.00. He beat Don Nicholson in the first round, before losing to Bob Glidden in round two. At the NHRA Division 4 Opener at Baton Rouge, Kevin made it all the way to the final before losing to Shepherd's 8.60/155 with an 8.63/154.73. He won the Divisional race at Beeline, stopping a fouling Gordie Rivera in the final with an 8.87. Another runner-up finish to Shepherd came at the second NHRA Division 4 race at Green Valley. An 8.58/157.61 was no match for Lee's 8.42/156 on this day. In April, he was at Fremont for the NHRA Division 6 race. Rotty qualified #5 in the eight-car field with an 8.58/157. He lost to low qualifier Brad Yuill in the first round. He was back at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals on April 27. An 8.49/161.00 qualified third in the eight-car show. A first-round 8.54/158.17 beat Sonny Ray, but he came up against Shepherd in the semifinals, and his 8.57/159.57 lost to Lee's 8.54/158. It didn't seem to matter which Division he raced in; he was tough. In May, Kevin was at OCIR for the third NHRA Division 6 race. It was another eight-car field, and his 8.50/158.17 qualified #1. He went on to win by beating Larry Johnson in the first round, with an 8.55/157.06 and an 8.53/157.61 beat Ken Dondero in Dick Landy's Omni in the semifinals. Rotty took all the awards in the final when he beat Brad Yuill with Low ET and Top Speed at 8.48/158.73. He slipped a bit in qualifying for the NHRA Springnationals when his 8.73/155.44 got the #8 spot in the field. In the first two rounds, he got around Don Coonce and Jim Kinnett before losing to Shepherd's 8.58 in the semifinals with an 8.70. Did Kevin run 8.43 somewhere this year? His NHRA national event bests were the 8.490 at Gainesville and 161.57 at the Winternationals. |

Notes: Scribner's Monza was awarded the best appearing car at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. Harry qualified #15 with an 8.61/155.44. He then beat Don Nicholson's out-of-shape Mustang in the first round and then beat Larry Johnson before losing to Bob Glidden in the semifinal. At the Bakersfield March Meet, a six-car Pro Stock show was run. Scribner qualified #3 with an 8.65/155.70. He beat Fred Hunter's Camaro in the first round with a 9.07/144, but he shut off in the semifinal to a 13.53 loss to Mark Yuill's 8.63/157. On May 9, Harry was at OCIR for the NHRA Western Regional. He qualified the little Monza #4 in the eight-car show with an 8.70/154.63. He soloed with an 8.76/154.10 in the first round when Dale Falk shut off on the line. In the semifinals, he set Low ET with an 8.59/157.89 over Gordie Rivera's 8.71/157. Unfortunately, he slowed to an 8.91/133.92, losing to Mark Yuill's 8.60/159 in the final. |

Notes: Dominated 1980 with 6 wins and 3 runner-ups. Lost the very close championship due to a broken transmission at the World Finals. Ran 8.35/163.45 at Amarillo WCS. Was that altitude factored? Confirmed 160.42 at Englishtown 80. We need to confirm the best sea-level times. | Lee started the '80 season by competing at the AHRA Winternationals. He qualified #1 in the eight-car show and went on to win, beating Don Nicholson in the final. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, Lee qualified #4 with an 8.52/156.24. He beat Jim Meyer in round one, and in round two, his 8.59/155.97 took out Lee Hunter's Zephyr. In the semifinals, his 8.61 advanced when Bob Glidden's Arrow broke at mid-track. His final-round opponent was to be Kevin Rotty, but Rotty's Camaro broke, so Shepherd soloed to his second NHRA National event Pro Stock win with a 14.38. Baton Rouge hosted the NHRA Division 4 Opener on March 9. Once again, the two Camaros of Rotty and Shepherd met in the final. This time Kevin's didn't break. Lee got the win with an 8.60/155.97 over Rotty's 8.63/154. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he qualified #2 with an 8.49/157.34. He beat Gordie Rivera in round one, and in round two, he beat Frank Iaconio. An 8.50 in the semifinals shut down Joe Satmary's 8.75. In the final, he faced Glidden and his Arrow. Both ran 8.51 (Lee at 156.52), with Shepherd getting the victory. The second Division 4 race was at Green Valley on March 30, and Shepherd set an 8.37 NHRA record in qualifying #1. His speed on the run was 161.57 (Top Speed). Once again, the final came down to the two Camaros of Rotty and Shepherd, and once again, the results were the same, with Lee's 8.42/156.52 beating Kevin's 8.58/157. The Reher-Morrison team continued to dominate Division 4 when they showed up at Houston for the third race. Lee ran 8.61 (Low ET) at 154.37 to qualify first and then went on to win with an 8.74/155.97 that beat Sonny Ray's 8.85/152. Things didn't seem to be going so good for the team when they showed up at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. It was an eight-car show, and when qualifying ended, Lee's best of 8.54/158.17 got the #5 spot. That put him up against low qualifier Glidden who had just switched to a Fairmont and set a track record 8.41. Lee was off by a tenth and a half, but he cut a good light in their first-round race, and his 8.54/158.73 beat Bob's quicker 8.49/160. In the semifinals, his 8.56/158.17 beat Rotty's 8.57/159. That set up a final round against Frank Iaconio. Frank had lane choice due to an 8.47 in his semifinal race. Once again, Shepherd proved he could drive as his 8.60/159.01 got the win over Iaconio's 8.55/145. This was his third straight NHRA National event victory. |

Notes: Car used destroked big block which help the team in 82 when the 500 CID limit was enforced. After losing the 1980 NHRA World Championship in the last race of the season, the Reher-Morrison team was back in '81 to finish what they started. Driver Lee Shepherd started the season by qualifying #2 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.38/160.42 behind Bob Glidden's track record 8.33. Everyone expected a final round showdown between these two, but it wasn't to be. Lee improved to an 8.35/160.14 in the first round, to advance when Ray Allen, driving Bill Jenkins' Camaro fouled. But in round two, Shepherd fouled against Pat Musi. Glidden went on to win. At the NHRA Gatornationals, Shepherd once again qualified #2 with an 8.35/160.42 behind Glidden who reset the NHRA record to 8.31. Lee ran 8.41/159.01 and 8.46/159.29 to beat Allen and Mark Yuill in the first two rounds before coming up against Musi in the semifinals. Lee ran 8.48/57.06 and lost to Pat's 8.44/161. At least Lee got to see Glidden lose in the same round to Frank Iaconio. The next race was the NHRA Western Regional at Green Valley. It was an eight-car show and Glidden and Shepherd qualified one-two. This time Shepherd's 8.26/161.87 out-qualified Bob's 8.28. These two would meet in the final. Lee ran 8.30/163.63 in the first round, over Jim Basko's 8.51/161 and an 8.35/163.93 (Top Speed) beat Don Coonce in the semifinals. Bob had run 8.2's in eliminations and in the final Lee pushed the tree too hard to get an advantage and fouled. Both cars ran 8.31/163.04 so if he hadn't fouled it would have been close. Atlanta was the next stop for the team. Shepherd set Low ET in qualifying #1 with an 8.40/159.85. An 8.54 advanced in round one, when Dave Hutchens fouled and in the semifinals he met Glidden. This time it was Bob who fouled and Lee moved into the final with an 8.49/159.01. This time his final round opponent was Iaconio. Lee ran 8.48/159.29 to get the win over Frank's 8.55/157. |

Notes: Terry attempted to qualify at the NHRA Winters (DNQ but no times available). He was in Seattle on May 4 for the second NHRA Division Six race. In the opening round, his 8.86/150.50 fell to Larry Johnson's 8.64/154. Terry also ran 8.910/151.00 (first alternate) at Seattle. He was the third alternate at the NHRA World Finals at 8.804/155.97 (third alternate). Sherrill had his Camaro delivered to him from Alston Engineering in June. He paid about $10,000 for it, but after having the interior tin and the body detailing done, he was up to around $14,000 without a powertrain. Terry ran a destroked big block of 396 cubic inches to fit the NHRA factoring rules of the day. He ran it for two years before selling it in the spring of '83 for $14,200. Sherrill said, "That was probably the best car I've ever had." We need to confirm the 8.55/156.79 numbers. Did those occur at an NHRA Division 6 or AHRA event? |

Notes: Terry ran really well at the NHRA Winternationals, running an 8.566/157.61 to qualify #8. Unfortunately, his 8.65/157.06 lost to Bob Ingles' 8.62/158 in the first round. He went to Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, where they held a six-car Pro Stock show. Terry qualified #4 with an 8.68/158.45 and, in the first round, beat low qualifier Larry Johnson with an 8.70/155.97. He got the odd-lot single in the semifinals. In the final, he ran Mark Yuill, but he crossed the centerline and gave Mark the win. He was at OCIR for the NHRA Western Regional. An 8.70/157.97 qualified #3. He singled in the first round, with an 8.65/159.01 when Jim Basko could not show. But Terry fouled away an 8.88/159.85 in the semifinals against Mark Yuill's 8.60/158. He was at Fremont early in October for the NHRA Golden Gate Nationals. An 8.54/159.57 qualified #15, and in round one, his 8.60/158.17 lost to Bob Glidden's 8.37/159. Terry qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field at OCIR for the NHRA World Finals with an 8.525/158.73. His 8.63/155.70 in the opening round fell to Mark Yuill's 8.48/158. |

Notes: Photo from NHRA WWCS Regional meet at Green Valley in April 1981. Taylor qualified #6 with a career-best 8.55 at 158.17 but lost to Bob Glidden's 8.25 (back-up for national record 8.23 run in semis) in Round 1. This was the Best Appearing Car at the 1981 Gatornationals. Mike Edwards drove the car in 1982. Stanley Morton also drove this car. The team also raced it in Comp eliminator. Fourth alternate at the Gators at 8.660/154.90. First alternate at Atlanta's eight-car show for the NHRA Southern Nationals, where his 8.617 best failed to make the show. Second alternate at Baton Rouge with an 8.618. Sixth alternate at Columbus at 8.836/152.82. Qualified #16 at Englishtown at 8.654/154.90. Lost first-round to John Hagen, 8.59/162 to 8.72/152. Third alternate at Indy at 8.652/154.90. That was the team's last NHRA national event of the year. |

Notes: This was a small block wedge head engine. | Brad was driving for Dick Landy at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, where he ran 8.61/158.17 to qualify #7. He lost to Tom Chelbana in the first round, via a monumental holeshot, 8.75 to 8.62. At the Bakersfield March Meet, he qualified with an 8.58, but he fouled against Sonny Bryant in the first round. He was at Fremont for the NHRA Division 6 race in April. He qualified #1 with an 8.50/159.87 (Low ET and Top Speed) and made his way to the final, where he beat his brother Mark for the title. Brad qualified #1 at the second NHRA Division 6 race at Seattle with an 8.52/159.57 (Low ET and Top Speed), but he fouled against Gary Pugh in the first round. At the third NHRA Division 6 race at OCIR, Brad qualified #2 with an 8.57/157.34 behind Kevin Rotty's 8.50. He advanced to the final with runs of 8.61/157.34 and 8.54/158.17 to meet up with Rotty in the final. Brad was a little slower than Rotty in eliminations, and he attempted to compensate, but he pushed the 'tree a little too hard and fouled away an 8.70/154.90 while Kevin got the victory with an 8.48/158. Brad was in the family Camaro at Indy and Ontario. Formerly listed 8.425/161.57. Removing those times until we get confirmation. |

Notes: Yuill was driving this car at the OCIR Super Bowl in January. He ran a great 8.59/155.97. Mark was a first alternate DNQ at the Winternationals but had run his best speed of the year, 8.740/159.01. He qualified #7 at Gainesville with his best ET of the year, 8.570/156.79. Brad went to the finals there, taking the runner-up spot to Bob Glidden. Those were Mark’s only two NHRA national events of 1980. |

Notes: Former Jerome Bradford. Number 6 in IHRA. Sam Carroll attempted to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, but his 8.23/169.49 best was the fourth alternate. He also failed to qualify at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals, where he was the eighth alternate with an 8.218/170.77. Those were Sam's only two NHRA national events. Sam also competed at Orlando for the Turkey Trot National Open. It was an eight-car field, and his 8.31/165.44 qualified #7. He fouled (8.52/167.91) against Reid Whisnant in the opening round. He then went to Suffolk for the Little Guy National Open. Unfortunately, his 8.14/167.28 best was only good enough for the first alternate. |
