Notes: Lee qualified #8 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.620/156.79. He beat Gary Hansen in the first round, at 8.67 before losing to Lee Shepherd in round two with an 8.73. At Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, he qualified for the eight-car show, but in round one, his 8.77/152.80 falling to eventual winner Randy Humphrey's 8.60/155. In April, Hunter was at Fremont for the NHRA Division 6 race. He qualified #3 with an 8.52/155.97. Lee qualified #13 at NHRA Seattle with an 8.700/152.80, but lost to Kevin Rotty in round one, 8.56/156 to an improved 8.67/153. Lee had an unusual DNQ at the Ontario World Finals.

Notes: Also 8.47/159 at 1980 Cajuns. If it weren't for Bob Glidden and Lee Shepherd's dominant performance, Frank would have easily been the 1980 Pro Stock World Champion. He still ran really well but was just a tick behind the performances of those two. He started the NHRA tour by qualifying third with an 8.51/161.57 at the Winternationals and lasted until the semifinals, where he fouled against Kevin Rotty. Frank ran well at the Gatornationals, where he qualified #6. He beat Lee Edwards in the first round, with an 8.52, but he fouled against Shepherd. He stopped off at Capitol Raceway for the Spring Pro Stock Championships. Fourteen cars were attempting to qualify for the eight-car field. Frank set Low ET and Top Speed in qualifying #1 with an 8.54/161.00. A first-round 8.57/159.81 beat Jim Cook's 8.89. Another 8.54 at 157.98 beat Larry Lombardo in the semifinals. He was to face Carlton Phillips in the final, but it was rained out. The next NHRA national event was the Cajun Nationals on April 27. It was only an eight-car show, and Iaconio qualified #2 with an 8.46/161.21. (Top Speed). An opening round 8.50/157.61 beat Jim Kinnett's 8.67/157. In the semifinal, he stopped Bill Jenkins with an 8.47/159. In the final, he met Shepherd. A quicker run of 8.55/145.86 lost to Lee's 8.60/159. He won the Division 1 Opener at Englishtown on May 4. Frank qualified #1 with an 8.55/158.73 and then ran 8.58/157.34 to beat Bob Ingles' 8.75/155. He set Low ET and Top Speed in the semifinals with an 8.51/158.73 over "Dyno Don" Nicholson's 8.73/155. A final round 8.53/153.45 beat Jenkins' 8.73/157. He then went to Richmond for an eight-car show. Ingles' 8.73 fell to Frank's 8.55 in the first round, but in the semifinals, his Camaro broke and slowed to 9.01 against eventual winner Lombardo's 8.64. Frank qualified #3 with an 8.63/156.79 at the NHRA Springnationals. He beat Brad Yuill and Jenkins in the first two rounds before losing to Glidden's 8.53/154 in the semifinals with an 8.60/156.52. I'm not sure if he failed to qualify or just skipped running the Mile High Nationals, but he wasn't in the field. At Englishtown for the Summernationals, he qualified #3 again, behind those "other two guys" with an 8.52/157.61. He beat Johnny Downey with an 8.56/157.69, and in the second round, another 8.56/157.89 beat Andy Mannarino. In the semi's, Glidden ran an 8.50/158 to trailer the Camaro's 8.60/157.06. Frank won the Division 1 race at Maple Grove, setting Low ET at 8.57 and beating Jenkins again in the final with an 8.58/156.52, dropping the "Grump's" 8.77/153. Jenkins returned the favor at the Division 1 race at Maryland, where Bill beat Frank in the final. The NHRA tour traveled up to Canada for the Grandnationals, where an 8.59/157.06 qualified #3 in the eight-car show. He beat Alban Gauthier in the first round, with an 8.63/156.52, but a semifinal run of 8.60/157.61 failed to win against Shepherd's 8.41/158. At the Division 1 final at New England on August 17, he set Low ET and Top Speed at 8.53/157.61 in qualifying #1. A first-round 8.60/157.61 advanced when Jenkins fouled. In the semifinals, his 8.57/157.06 beat Doug Noblet. A final round 8.58/157.61 beat Ingles' 8.79/150. He took his customary third spot in qualifying with an 8.52/160.71 at the US Nationals. Again he ran well until he met up with Glidden in the semifinal, and a good 8.53/160.42 lost to Bob's 8.46/160. At Seattle for the Fallnationals, Lee didn't run as well as he normally did, and as a result, Frank's 8.45/159.01 qualified #2 behind Glidden's 8.35. Frank worked his way through the field until he met up with Shepherd in the semifinal and fouled out, giving Lee a free ride into the final. At the World Finals, he was back in #3 in qualifying with an 8.56/159.01, but this time, he made it into the final against Glidden. A final round 8.56/159.29, lost to a championship-hungry Glidden who won with an 8.42/159.85.

Notes: Frank and Ray Allen parted ways when Ray went to drive for Bill Jenkins. Frank raced on his own and won two national events. Also 161.29 at Sanair 8/81. | Frank continued to chase Bob Glidden and Lee Shepherd in '81 just as he had in '80. If one of those two slipped, he was quick to capitalize on it. He started the season by qualifying #3 behind those two at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.50/159.57. He made it into the semifinals before losing to Glidden. Things went much more Iaconio's way at the NHRA Gatornationals. Once again he qualified #3 behind Bob and Lee with an 8.39/161.29. Another 8.39/157.34 beat Roy Hill's Mopar in round one, while in the second round, he beat Don Nicholson with an 8.41/161.29. Frank got one back on Glidden in the semifinals when Bob got out of shape and shut down while Frank moved into the final with another 8.41/161.29. It wasn't Shepherd he had to race in the final; it was Pat Musi who had beaten Shepherd in his semifinal race. Iaconio won his fourth NHRA National event with an 8.39/161.29 when Musi fouled against him. He had another good run at Atlanta in April for the NHRA Southern Nationals. An 8.41/160.71 (Top Speed) qualified #2 in the eight-car field between Lee's 8.40 and Bob's 8.44. He ran 8.53 to beat Mark Yuill in the first round, and in the semifinals, another 8.53/158.17 beat Nicholson. He faced Shepherd in the final and his 8.55/157.89 finished second best to Lee's 8.48/159. Still, a win and a runner-up in the first three NHRA events was pretty good. It got better when he won the NHRA Eastern Regional at Englishtown on May 3. In the final, he set a new NHRA speed record when his 8.39/164.57 beat Andy Mannarino's 8.48/159 for the victory. Another win came at Cayuga for the second NHRA Eastern Regional on May 17. There his final round 8.45 (Low ET) at 160.14 beat Alban Gauthier's 8.62/158. Earlier he had also set Top Speed at 160.42. A week later(May 24), Frank was at State Capitol for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He qualified #2 behind Shepherd and in the first round, he beat Bob Ingles, but in the semifinals, both he and Mannarino ran 8.57 with Andy getting the win light. At the NHRA Springnationals, an 8.58/158.45 qualified #3, and he improved to 8.55/158.17 in the first round, over a fouling Don Coonce. In round two his 8.56/158.45 beat Yuill. He faced Shepherd in the semifinals and his 8.56/158.17 lost to Lee's 8.53/158.

Notes: Bob qualified on the "bump" at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.62/157.06. In the first round, he ran another 8.62 at 158.17 to beat Terry Sherrill's 8.65/157. In the second round, he defeated Butch Leal's 8.68/156 with an 8.60/158.45. He ran well in the semi-final, but his 8.61/158.17 was no match for Pat Musi's 8.50/158. He qualified #13 at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals with an 8.554/157.61. In the opening round, he improved to 8.54/159.01 to beat Andy Mannarino's 8.57/155. He fouled away an 8.59/157.89 in round two against Bob Glidden, who advanced with an 8.48/160. Bob got quicker and quicker throughout the season, finally hitting 8.438 at the World Finals and 160.14 at Fremont. Ingles qualified #9 at Fremont for the NHRA Golden Gate Nationals with an 8.44/160.14. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Lee Shepherd. As expected, Shepherd's 8.33/161 defeated ingle's 8.46/160.14. He then went to OCIR for the NHRA World Finals, where his 8.438/159.57 qualified #7. He slept in the opening round, and his 8.51/158.73 lost to Gary Hansen's 8.65/156. Bob finished #9 in NHRA championship points.

He improved slightly in the opening round of eliminations to an 8.50/157.61 to beat Harry Hronas' 8.88/150. Janke lost to the eventual winner Bob Glidden in the semifinal. Janke also went to Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and it took an 8.60 to get in. Unfortunately, Jerry's best of 8.754 failed to make the cut. That was the team's last NHRA national event of the year.

Notes: The last car SRD built for Jenkins. Bill returned to driving after a three-year layoff. Confirmed 8.51/158 at Gainesville 3/80. Bill started his '80 season by qualifying #9 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.63/157.06. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Kevin Rotty. Jenkins gambled on the tree and lost, fouling away an 8.65/156.52, while Rotty advanced with an 8.62/157. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he qualified #3 with an impressive 8.51 behind Bob Glidden and Lee Shepherd. Unfortunately, he lost to Don Coonce in the first round. He ran 8.60/157.61 to qualify on the "bump" for the NHRA Cajun Nationals at Baton Rouge. It was a tough eight-car show. He picked up slightly to an 8.59/156.79 in the first round, to beat Larry Johnson's late 8.58/157. In the semifinals, he had problems and shut off to 8.82/139.53 in a loss to Frank Iaconio's 8.47/159. On May 4th, he was at Englishtown for the NHRA Division 1 Opener. There, his 8.61/155.97 qualified #2 behind Iaconio's 8.55. These two would work their way to the final. Jenkins' 9.00/153.32 in the first round, beat Don Campanello's Arrow, while an 8.83/155.44 in the semifinals beat former driver Larry Lombardo's quicker 8.72/155. Facing Iaconio in the final was gonna be tough as Frank had run 8.58 and 8.51. Sure enough, Bill ran his best of eliminations at 8.73/157.06, but it was good for the runner-up spot as Frank took the victory with an 8.53/153. At Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, Bill qualified #7 with an 8.73/153.84. He beat Morris Johnson's Vega in the first round, before losing to Iaconio in round two. He won the NHRA Division 1 race at Maryland International, stopping Iaconio in the final. Englishtown was the next stop on the NHRA circuit for the Summernationals. Jenkins qualified #8 with an 8.65/155.17. He ran 8.68/155.97 in the first round, over Coonce, but an 8.67/156.25 in round two could not beat his opponent's 8.64/157. He then went to Maryland International for the US Pro Stock Open, where he finished runner-up to Shepherd at the eight-car show. Another runner-up finish came at Maple Grove for the NHRA Division 1 race. His 8.77/153.58 in the final lost to Iaconio's 8.58/156. He was in Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals on August 9th. It was an eight-car field, and Bill's 8.74/154.63 qualified on the "bump." The race was postponed by rain, and Bill didn't return. His next stop was at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. An 8.72 qualified #7. He lost to Jim Kinnett's Volare in the first round. The NHRA Division 1 final was held at New England on August 17. Jenkins qualified #5 for the show with an 8.74/154.37. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Iaconio, who Bill had been having a tough time getting around. Bill took a shot and fouled, slowing to 9.01 while Frank advanced with an 8.60/157. Things went well at Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals. Bill ran 8.62/155.44 to qualify #8. A first-round 8.68/155.17 beat Roy Hill's 8.74/158, and in round two, he showed he could still drive as his holeshot-aided 8.65/155.17 beat Andy Mannarino's quicker 8.52/157. Bill's fun came to an end in the semifinals, where eventual winner Shepherd ran 8.54/158 to beat his 8.61/155.44.

Notes: NHRA Division 7 racer. Photo from the 1979 NHRA US Nationals, Indianapolis Raceway Park. Larry finished 6th in NHRA points in 1980, his best year. | Larry qualified #5 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.60/156.24. Unfortunately, he lost to Gordie Rivera in the first round. At the Gatornationals, he qualified #9, a very unlucky spot as he faced low qualifier Bob Glidden in the opening round and lost. He made a stop at Warner Robins for the Division Two opener and cleaned the house. He ran 157.34 for Top Speed, set a new track record 8.58. In the final, he faced off against Roy Hill, and Hill must have known the advantage Johnson's Camaro had over his Horizon in performance as he fouled and Larry got the victory with an 8.60/156.79. The next NHRA National event was the Cajun Nationals at Baton Rouge. It was just an eight-car field, but Larry showed that he had what it takes to qualify. A strong 8.52 at only 152.28 qualified #4, but in round one, he was a little late of the line, and Bill Jenkins' 8.59/156 beat his 8.58/157.34. His disappointment didn't last long as a week later, he won the Division Six race at Seattle. An opening round 8.64/154.63 had beaten Terry Sherrill's 8.86/150, and in the semifinals, he soloed with an 8.92/120 when Gary Pugh's Monza broke. He faced the Mopar of Randy Humphrey in the final, and Larry's 8.69/154.90 grabbed the win over Randy's close 8.71/153. Two weeks later, he was at OCIR for the next Division Six race. He qualified #5 with an 8.65/155.44, but low qualifier, and eventual winner Kevin Rotty, beat his 8.69/155.97 in the first round, with an 8.55/157. Larry did not attend the Springnationals at Columbus, but he did run at the Mile High Nationals at Denver. The car broke in its first-round race against Rotty. He qualified in the top half(#6)of the field at Englishtown for the Summernationals with an 8.58/157.06 and another 8.58 at 155.70 beat Don Campanello's 8.85/154 in the opening frame. But in round two, Lee Shepherd's 8.50/162 put Johnson's 8.59/157.34 on the trailer. He qualified #1 with an 8.71 at Blaney Drag Strip for the Division Two final, but he failed to reach the finals. He also lost early at Bonneville for the Division Five race. Larry set a 9.07 track record in qualifying #1, but a sleepy 9.16/147.55 in the first round, lost to Russell Pierson's 9.21/147. He recouped with a win at the next Division Five race held at Brainerd. An 8.70/154.10 stopped Bill Prince's 9.07/149, and a semifinal 8.81/153.32 advanced when Pierson fouled. In the final, he faced John Hagen, and Larry's 8.68/155.17 held on for the victory over Hagen's 8.70/154. He did not race in Canada for the Grandnationals.

Notes: Larry qualified #4 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. His 8.510/157.61 followed Bob Glidden, Lee Shepherd, and Frank Iaconio. That was pretty good company. But in the first round, of eliminations, he fell off to 8.71/154.63 in a loss to Butch Leal's 8.63/157. He then competed at the Bakersfield March Meet. Only six cars showed, and he set Low ET with his 8.57/157.06 in qualifying. Unfortunately, the car broke in round one, and slowed to 10.08 in a loss to Terry Sherrill's 8.70.

Notes: Warren did not race at all the NHRA national events in 1981. He spent a large part of the year running the Jerome Bradford Monte Carlo on the IHRA trail. WJ's first NHRA event was in Atlanta in April. He qualified number 7 at 8.583/157.34. In round one, he lost to Bob Glidden, 8.50/158 to 8.632/156.24. At the NHRA SpringNationals in Columbus, Warren qualified number 14 at 8.686/156.52. Warren could not make it for the first-round, and Paul Gentilozzi took his spot against Bob Ingles in the field. At the NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, Warren qualified number 11 at 8.552/158.73. Unfortunately, that lined him up against Bob Glidden in round 1. Glidden took an 8.53/159 to 8.656/155.70 victory. At Indy for the US Nationals, Warren qualified number 16 at 8.616/160.14. In round 1, David Hutchins ended Warren's NHRA season with an 8.50/158 to 8.810/154.37 shellacking. This year, Warren used a 340-inch engine, and it was clear the smaller displacement was not giving him the results his standard big blocks did.

Notes: The team's NHRA national event season was not as successful as someone with a #7 finish number expected. Larry was the fifth alternate at Pomona at 8.89 (speed unavailable). He qualified on the bump at Gainesville at 8.739/153.58 but lost to Joe Satmary in round one, 8.77/152 to 9.524/111.38. Larry was the second alternate at NHRA Englishtown at 8.750/156.24. That was his final NHRA national event of the year.

Notes: Photo from Indy 1981, where Pat began driving this car after racing his white Camaro with Joe Folgore for the early part of the season. Pat qualified #1 at 8.390/161, which held up for Low ET of the event. That was Pat's best NHRA ET of the year, and his 163.04 from Fremont (8.397) was his fastest.

Notes: Musi ran 8.52/159.29 to qualify #6 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He improved to 8.50/159.01 in the first round, to beat Gene Fasching's 8.75/154. In round two, he improved to 8.47/160.71 to beat a fouling Lee Shepherd at 8.42/161. In the semifinal, a consistent 8.50/158.17 took out Bob Ingles' 8.61/158. He faced off against Bob Glidden in the final, and despite running 8.52/159.57, he lost to the Ford's strong 8.38/161. It was still a great showing for the mostly match racer at an NHRA national event. After that showing, he went to Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where once again he impressed. An 8.44/160.71 qualified #4. Once again, he made his way to the final. In round one, Paul Gentilozzi fouled against him, and Musi advanced with an 8.50/159.57. A second-round 8.45/160.42 covered John Hagen's 8.55/160. He beat Shepherd fair and square in the semifinals, with his 8.44/161.00 beating the Texas Camaro's 8.48/157. This time he faced off against Frank Iaconio in the final. Frank had been running just a little quicker in eliminations, and Pat gambled on the tree and lost. His fouling 8.50/159.85 finished runner-up to Iaconio's 8.39/161. He returned to his match racing roots until the end of April when he went to Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. It was only an eight-car field, and after runner-up finishes in the first two NHRA events, Musi must have been disappointed when his 8.63 (fourth alternate) failed to qualify. He did much better at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals held at the end of May. It was another eight-car show, but this time his 8.51/160.42 qualified #5. That was good; what was bad was that he had to run low qualifier Shepherd in the opening round. Musi pushed the tree too hard and fouled away an 8.63 while Lee advanced with an 8.44. Pat switched from this car to the Palmer Bros. Camaro starting at Indy.
