Notes: On this car's very first run, we set a new track record at Detroit for ET and MPH. We raced at 14 events in 1971 and set track records at 11 of the 14 events. Later that year, I had the worst funny car fire in the history of drag racing to that point at Lebanon Valley, NY. I was burned over 60 percent of my body. I needed skin grafts, etc. I was laid up for a year. - Dwane Ong, Racin & Rockin with Draglist.com radio show, 6/08/15 |

Notes: Ray built another car and was going to drive it himself. He asked me to come to Memphis for the first race. But we decided that it was better if I drove the car and so I did after being laid up for a year. In addition to qualifying at Indy 9/72 with a 6.533/224.43, we ran 6.48, 6.46, and 6.44 at OCIR at the Manufacturer's Race in 1972. - Dwane Ong, Racin & Rockin with Draglist.com radio show, 6/08/15 | Duane broke at the OCIR Mfg. Meet 1972 against Jim Dunn (from the movie Funny Car Summer). Low ETs for the meet were Billy Meyer at 6.51 and Ron Colson at 6.57, and they met in the final). We need to validate the actual race where Duane ran the 6.40s. ET Manufacturers Meet, Orange County CA 10/72 |

Notes: Won first national event with rear-engine car in 1970. Woody asked me if I wanted a front engine or rear-engine dragster, and I told him I wanted a rear-engine. It had a lot of bugs that we had to fix by trial and error. Nobody could help me because nobody knew anything about running one of these. After Garlits got hurt at Lions, Marvin Schwartz raced his car for him. I raced Marvin in Garlits car at Detroit and beat them. I also won the AHRA Summernationals at Long Island, NY, that same year. Don came over and went over the car with a fine toothed comb; he sat in it and everything. The rear end was a little over-engineered, so I was going to have the Logghe Bros. back half it and continue, but I got the offer to run the Trader Ray Mustang and make a little money, so I sold the car instead. The best in the rear-engine car was 6.63 at about 223/224. - Dwane Ong, Racin & Rockin with Draglist.com radio show, 6/08/15 | Previously listed 6.835/219.51 in this car. | After I won the AHRA Summer Nats, I sold the car to a guy from Garden City, Michigan. He supposedly crashed on the east coast, but no one knows for sure. - Dwane Ong, Racin & Rockin Radio-12/07/15 |
