Notes: Built in 1955 by Red Greth and Don Maynard, this started out as a Lords car club roadster owned by Lyle Fisher and John Patrick. In 1956, Fisher began driving and shared ownership with the club's dragster. In the beginning of 1956, John "Buddy" Zadro teamed up with Patrick as a co-owner, but Patrick did the driving. At Holtville, California, on March 18, they turned 107 mph for a track record. On April 8 at Perryville, they took a class win with 105.26 mph. Zadro left the team and J. Mercer Johnson partnered with John Patrick for the meet at Davis-Monthan AFB on April 29. Patrick turned 114.15 mph to take a class win. On Sep. 23 at Davis-Monthan, Patrick drove to a class win and track record with 117.00 mph. Photo: "Early Drag Racing Photos," p. 14, in Jalopy Journal, The H.A.M.B. - MB |
