Notes: Greg was at Rockingham in the first week of May for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships. Nineteen cars showed for the sixteen-car field, and his 7.72/192 qualified on the "bump." In the opening round, he ran a career-best (to this point) 6.60/216 but still lost to Sherm Gunn, who ran 6.18/228. He was nineteen years old. Former Gary Burgin FC. | Bill Lewis and his brothers were from Springfield, IL; they had a black AA/Gas 41 Willys in the '60s, then a few other cars after that... their first funny car was Jim Paoli's Yankee Packrat Vega. In the early 80s, they bought Gary Burgin's Orange Baron Mustang and ran it under the Parts Barn name with Bill's son Greg driving. A bad fire in Cleves, Ohio, ended their funny car days. Although Bill did buy a new car, they never ran it. - Bob Gibson, 11/19/23

Notes: Tony qualified #2 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.10/295.37 behind Cruz Pedregon's 4.93/307. In the opening round, he was upset by Richard Hartman's 5.04/297, which defeated his 5.11/300.50. He then went to Firebird Raceway for the NHRA Arizona Nationals, where his 5.17/297.52 qualified #5. In the first round, his 5.14/296.54 beat Dean Skuza's 5.24/280, but he lost to Kenji Okazaki in round two. He qualified #5 again at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals with a 5.12/291.45. Unfortunately, he lost to Mark Oswald in the first round. The next NHRA event was the Slick 50 Nationals at Houston. He slipped to #12 in qualifying with a 5.23/297.02. A slightly better 5.21/283.46 beat Hartman in round one, and a 5.12/300.40 (Top Speed) beat Gary Densham's 5.38/244 in round two. Despite running a strong 5.15/300.30 in the semi-final, he lost to car owner John Force's 5.02/273. Shortly after that, Tony was at Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational. This was only an eight-car field, and his 5.14/284.90 qualified #4. In the first round, his 5.26/285.53 fell to Del Worsham's 5.21/281. The following week, he was in Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals, where he qualified #6 at 5.15/275.81. In round one, his 5.11/300.50 took out Skuza's 5.23/279. A 5.12/298.30 dropped Densham's 5.32/265 in round two, and in the semi-final, a 5.05/296.73 took care of Whit Bazemore's 5.34/286. He faced Force in the final, and Pedregon ran 5.10/294.59 to get the victory over his boss's 5.31/275. He then went to Richmond in the first week of May for the NHRA Virginia Nationals, where he hoped to score another win. He qualified #4 with a 5.09/291.54. A off-pace 5.56/269.78 ended any chance in the first round, where he lost to Brad Platt's 5.32/238. Tony was the fifth member of the Castrol Four Second Club on July 5, 1996, with a 4.971 at Topeka, Kan. Tony's best times of the year came in a 4.909/208.64 #1 qualifying effort at NHRA Ennis Fall.

After a couple of early '71 races on the west coast, Bergler bought out Seaton and ran the car with Prock as the driver. Tom qualified #9 at Pomona with a 7.194/206.42. He crossed the centerline against Jake Johnston in round one. Johnston was broke but got the win nonetheless. Tom qualified #11 at Gainesville with a 7.30/209. In round one, he lost to Gene Snow, 6.89/214 to 7.02/211.26. In April, the team was at Aquasco for an eight-car show. Tom set a 6.80 track record at 194.38 in the first round to beat Malcolm Durham. His 7.30/200.88 beat Pete Williams' 7.36/195 in "Jungle Jim's" second car in the semifinals. Unfortunately, the car caught fire at the top end of the track. Prock eventually got the car stopped and was able to get out, but the car was completely destroyed. Prock got away with a slight burn on his neck and a bruised hand. Otherwise, he was OK. The car was rebuilt, and Prock was at Indianapolis early in May for the NHRA Division Three race. He runner-upped to Roger Lindamood. Shortly after that (May 23), he was at Green Valley for the AHRA Grand American race. It was a sixteen-car field, and in the first round, he was late, and his 7.16/201.78 lost to Art Ward's 7.31/202. In the first week of June, the team was at Baton Rouge for the AHRA Southern Nationals. Unfortunately, Prock lost to Leonard Hughes in the opening round. Tom was the seventh alternate at Indy in the team's last event with a 7.06/208.33. In '72, Prock left for the Custom Body ride, and Butch Maas drove for Al in the renamed Motown Shaker.

Notes: The team sold their '78 car and borrowed the '77 car to run at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. Unfortunately, the team failed to qualify. The new car was ready for the NHRA Gatornationals, where it was awarded the "Best Appearing." It didn't run too bad either, as Pulde qualified #13 with a 6.39/228.42. But he smoked the tires in the opening round and shut off to 16.30-42.69 in a loss to Billy Meyer's 6.35/239. The following week, the team was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. Pulde "only" qualified #5 in the eight-car field, setting up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Raymond Beadle in the "Blue Max." Beadle smoked the tires in their race, and Dale ran 6.32 to advance. He improved to 6.21 in the semi-final to beat Tripp Shumake's 6.82. He faced Paul Smith in the final, and Pulde got his first win of the year with his 6.73/230.17 beating Smith's 6.72/221. He also made it into the final at the next IHRA race, the Dixie Nationals held in Atlanta. There he lost to Kenny Bernstein in the final. He did not compete at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. Bernstein stopped him again at the next IHRA race, the Pro-Am Championships at Rockingham. This time it happened in the first round. Pulde overpowered the track, and his 6.72/232.55 lost to Bernstein's 6.19/232. He qualified #4 at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals with a 6.17/231.95. An off-pace 6.80/190.67 in the first round lost to Ron Colson's 6.49/228 in the "Hawaiian." Dale was much happier at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. His 6.27 "only" qualified #4. Both he and Frank Oglesby smoked the tires in round one, but Pulde's 6.85 came out on top. He beat Beadle's 6.87 in the semi-final with a 6.49. In the final, he faced Bernstein. Kenny slept, and his 6.31/223 lost to Pulde's 6.47/234.98. At the end of June, he was in Denver for the NHRA Mile-High Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and he qualified #5. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Bernstein. This time Kenny fouled against him. Pulde then lost in the semi-final. A good year with a lot of qualifying success and some round wins. Best times at NHRA Indy in qualifying at 6.084/239.36. Stock Stroke motor. | 6.11 NHRA Englishtown NJ 7/79 lost to Beadles 6.08 quickest side by side FC race

Notes: Tripp started the '83 season at Pomona. He qualified in the unlucky #9 spot with a 6.206/244.56. It was unlucky because by qualifying in that spot you had to run the #1 qualifier in the first round. Shumake ran low qualifier Tom Anderson, and sure enough, Tom's 5.960/242.58 put the Camaro's 6.158/245.90 on the trailer. Back on the match race trail, the team ran an ungodly 5.749 at the 64 Funny Cars event at Orange County in April. They also competed at the Fuel Wars event in Fremont, but failed to impress with three straight losses due to tire shake and other maladies. The team’s next NHRA event was the Springnationals at Columbus, where Tripp did not qualify at 6.267/222.22. The team also failed to qualify at the US Nationals where their 6.017/243.90 was the fifth alternate. The team recovered at the Golden Gate Nationals, where a stout 5.858/250.00 grabbed the fourth slot in the eight-car field. Tripp defeated Dale Pulde in round one, 5.901/249.30 to 6.038/240.64, but fell to Billy Meyer in round two, 5.843/229.59 to 6.240/208.81. The team finished their NHRA season by qualifying #11 at the World Finals with a 5.932/247.25. Emerging star John Force got them in the first round, however, 5.809/247.25 to 6.174/179.64. Notes: Bobby won the AHRA Southern Nationals at Memphis on May 31, running a 7.74/191.31 in the final. On June 28, at Miami-Hollywood, he met Paula Murphy for a best two out of three match race. In the first race, he set a 7.65 track record at 194.38 over Paula, who fouled on an 8.17/189 pass. Wood won all three races with second and third runs of 7.78/191.88 and 7.73/190.66. On July 6, he was runner-up to Arnie Behling when they both ran 7.72 in the final of US 30's Grand Prix of Drag Racing. Bobby's speed was 204. The following day, they ran again at US 30, and this time Wood won with a 7.58/207 (Top Speed) after earlier setting Low ET at 7.49. On July 11, he faced a tough match race against Leonard Hughes at Memphis. The first race went to Wood's 7.59/191 when Hughes got out of shape. He won the second race as well with a 7.61/191.92, beating Hughes' 7.65/202. In the third race, Leonard's 7.71/195 beat Wood's 7.78, but his two wins had already won Bobby the match. On August 3 at Shelby Raceway, he set a new NHRA record at 7.58 while beating Ed Schartman three straight. His times were 7.58/194, 7.54/191, and 7.58/190. Ed's best was a 7.97/181. Still, on the match race trail, he met Sid Foster on August 9 at Palmetto and won three straight with a 7.56/198, winning the first race when Foster fouled on a 7.72/194 pass. Foster's Torino broke and couldn't make the final two races, so Wood ran a 7.54/180 while breaking a blower drive and a track record 7.39 at 201. On September 7, he went back to Shelby Raceway for the Memphis Funny Car 500. He ran a first-round 7.62 when Frank Oglesby's Cougar broke. A 7.50 beat Gary Dyer in the Mr. Norm Charger in the second round. In the final, his 7.45 beat Roger Lindamood's 7.50. He qualified eighth at the NHRA Nationals at Indy with a 7.45/199.89. In the first round, Kelly Chadwick's 7.38/196 beat his 7.55/199.11. At the 900 foot track at Southeastern Dragstrip, they held an eight-car show on September 28. Bobby ran a first-round 6.20 over Scottie Sharp. In the semifinal, a 6.53 beat Paul Aray's Cuda. But a final round 6.15 by Curtis Wasson gave Wood the runner-up spot. Atlanta held its big $20,000 meet on October 12, and Bobby won it all when a final round 7.79/207.38 beat a fouling Danny Ongais in Mickey Thompson's Mustang. On October 19, he was at Courtland for a best of three match against Schartman's Cougar driven by Arnie Behling. Wood won all three races with 7.62, 7.64, and 7.66 times. He ran a match race at Dallas on October 26 against Don Garlits' dragster. There was no handicap as the cars ran heads-up. Although Wood got out first on every run, he still lost all three races. As the season ended, he took another win at the Turkey Trot Nationals at Gainesville on November 30. He set Low ET in the final when his 7.30/193.76 beat Joe Petruccelli. - Ron Howard | Formerly listed 7.155/215 in this car, which is highly suspect for this year. Removing those times until further confirmation comes in. | Kendall GT-1 "Rebel." Held NHRA record with this car. - Danny White | Confirmed 7.45 at Memphis.
