Notes: The beautiful car debuted in 1964 as a blown gas Fiat altered with chassis built by Barker himself. In 1966, the team replaced the Fiat shell with a Mustang shell, and the car began running as a flopper in local shows. Initially ran direct drive for Chrisman-like launches. Blown 427 Wedge eventually ran mid 8s at 170 plus. The car won Comp Eliminator at the 1967 HRM Championships. The team raced as an alternate at 1968 OCIR Mfg. Meet. The car was sold to an Aussie racer in late 68, who ran it with a 392. Barker was at Lions on May 18 for an Funny Car event. After qualifying finished for the low eight, there were so many cars there that another eight-car field was assembled for the next eight lowest ETs. Barker qualified #5 among the second eight with a 9.31. In the first round, he improved to 8.84/175.43 to beat Gene Conway's ailing 10.06/105. But in the semifinals, his 8.99/174.08 lost to Marv Eldridge's 8.44/178 in his new Corvette. On August 31, Larry was at OCIR for an Funny Car race where fourteen cars ran the first-round, and the four lowest ETs advanced into the semifinals. Barker ran 8.56/176.61 in his race, but he lost to Dave Beebe's 7.74/187. His time was not quick enough to advance into the semis.

Notes: Bruce Larson was one of the best Chevrolet funny car racers of all time. The "US A-1" 1967 Camaro was the second funny campaigned by Larson. It was one of the best in the northeast. The car featured a Logghe Stage II chassis and a 427 Chevrolet engine backed by an automatic transmission. The Camaro held the NHRA National record at 7.41 seconds in 1968. The "US A-1" 67 Camaro raced until 1969. Larson now makes exhibition runs with the restored car. (Photos provided by Mike Ditty. Info provided by James Ibusuki and Draglist.com)

Notes: As the story has been told before, Gas Ronda began drag racing as a hobby. Ronda's doctor told him to find something to do in his spare time. I don't believe drag racing is what the doctor ordered. Ronda made his way through the Super Stock ranks until he got his first funny car in 1966, the Russ Davis Ford sponsored Mustang. The famed shop of Holman-Moody built the first Russ Davis Ford. That car was replaced by this Ron Scrima EE built car in 1967. Gas had a very professional approach to drag racing that made him popular with fans and the press alike. He won many races with the poppy red Mustang. The car ran times of 7.90/184.04 with an injected engine, despite the stock style body with removable front end and opening doors. By 1969, the car was outdated and was replaced by a newer LSC built Mustang that won the '69 OCIR Manufacturer's Meet. Confirmed 8.30/175.78, and 8.24/172.24 at OCIR Mfg. Meet 11/25/67. | Car featured in 11/67 Hot Rod. | Mike Ditty photo shows car in its later blown configuration, not with the Hilborn stacks it ran in 1967. | Ronda debuted his new Mustang at Irwindale on September 9. On its first ever pass it ran 8.60/163.63.

Notes: Jack Chrisman got one of four original Logghe-built Comets in 1966. Jack took his proven blown 427 Cammer out of the 1965 Comet to run in the new flip-top car, unlike Nicholson and Schartman, who ran injected motors. In 1966, it seemed that the four lightweight Comets dominated the funny car competition like no other cars. Chrisman's high point in his funny car career was his 7.60/190.27 run at Indy in 1967. No other car ran in the sevens during qualifying. That run was light years ahead of the competition. Chrisman's career cooled by the end of the decade. | Won the "light" (2000 lbs.) funny car category at the 4th Hot Rod Magazine Championships at Riverside, Cal., in April 1967. | For almost two years, everyone wondered what this car was capable of doing. The injected Comets dominated the competition, and everyone knew that when Jack finally got this thing to "stick," it was quick. That happened at Indy. This car was one week old when Jack showed up at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He ran in the S/XS class and, in the first round, met the eventual winner Don Nicholson. Chrisman ran a strong 8.40/177.51 but lost to "Dyno's" slight holeshot and 8.42/170 run. A week later (February 12), he was making some test runs at Irwindale. He ran a best of 8.60/162.74 before breaking a blower manifold. He was at Bakersfield on Feb.19, where he ran in the 2,400lb Funny Car class. In the opening round of eliminations, his 8.76/167.28 beat Jim Liberman's 9.53/156. But in the semifinals, he fouled against Al Vanderwoulde. Jack was at Lions on March 18, where he made an exhibition run at 8.75/172.04. As mentioned above, he won the 2,000 lb. Funny Car class at the HRM Championships on April 8. He qualified #1 with an 8.71/177.77 and beat Ronnie Runyan's Corvette in the first round, with an 8.50/174.75. Another 8.50 at 178.57 took the victory over the broken 'Cuda of Butch Leal in the final. On May 10, he was at Cecil County for the Factory Showdown. His 8.47/174.75 (Top Speed) advanced when Liberman crossed the center line in the first round. He was late off the line in round two, and his 8.32 lost to Roger Lindamood's 8.41. At Aquasco on May 21, a first-round 8.72/155.70 won when Lindamood fouled away an 8.78/167. He got a solo in the second round and set Low ET and Top Speed of the meet with an 8.38/175.78, but his kill switch failed at the end of the run, and then his parachute failed to deploy. He ran off the end of the track and got airborne for 100 feet before crashing down. Jack was OK, not so much for the Comet. In June, he qualified at Bristol for the NHRA Springnationals with an 8.30. He broke in the first round, but his coasting Comet still advanced due to Leal's red light. Chrisman could not repair in time for round two, giving Ed Schartman a solo into the semifinals. Shortly after that, he went to Cecil County for the three-day Super Stock Magazine Nationals. Chrisman raced in the "unlimited class" for supercharged cars only. On Friday, he beat Arnie Beswick in the first round when the steering failed on the GTO, and he crossed into Jack's lane right in front of the Comet. Only seven cars were running in this class Friday, so Chrisman got to solo in the semifinal. He faced Steve Bovan's Camaro in the final, and Steve won easily with an 8.34/169 over the ailing Comet. He did not race on Saturday, but he was back in competition Sunday. While he didn't win, he did run 8.07/184.44 to defeat Larry Reyes' 8.19/179 in the "Kingfish" in the first round.

Notes: In the new millennium, Don Schumacher has become the owner of the largest professional team in drag racing with eight cars. But at one time, he was a driver himself with the "Stardust" series of fuel funny cars that he raced from 1966 to 1974. The car is the "Stardust" '68 Barracuda. The car featured a late Chrysler engine inside a Logghe Bros. frame. Schumacher bought the car from Butch Leal, who gave up funny cars to go doorslammer racing. This was a departure for Schumacher, who previously raced Romeo Palamides-built cars, including a front-hinge flip-top funny car. - BS | Don Schumacher really started to run well when crew chief John Hogan came on board in July. Things didn't start so well when Don drove the car into the ditch during the Super Stock Nationals, and the team showed up at Detroit on July 26 with the front of the car wearing primer. A blown transmission on a warm-up run was followed by an off-pace 8.90 in the opening round of the eight-car show that lost to Bruce Larson. The next day (July 26), Detroit ran them again, only now they expanded the field to twelve cars. In the first round, Don's 7.82/182.18 beat Bob Fulp in the "Limefire." He got to solo in round two and made an easy 13.02 pass. In the semi-final, he had trouble and shut down to 11.73/78 in a loss to Larson's 8.27/166. Sunday was the last day for the three-day event at Detroit, and this time Schumacher went all the way. An off-pace 8.42/170.77 defeated Fulp's equally troubled 8.46/172 in the first round. In the second round, his 7.89/181.80 took out Mike Burkhart's 7.91/153. He got some revenge over Larson in the semi-final by running 7.78/183 over Bruce's 7.79/182. In the final, he faced Kelly Chadwick, and his 7.93/184.42 got the victory over Chadwick's 8.27/145.

Notes: Fiberglass shell, Zeuschel-built early hemi, Enderle injection, TorqueFlite-112" chassis, 2025 lbs. There has been some question as to who became the first female funny driver, but we consider Paula Murphy the first. Paula had previous racing experiences with sports cars, Indy Cars, NASCAR stock cars, and other forms of racing. In 1966, "Fat Jack" Bynum and Murphy teamed up to build a '66 Mustang funny car called "Miss STP." The homebuilt chassis was crude at best, but it had a Dave Zeuschel-built 392 Chrysler tuned by Bynum. The uniqueness of a female funny car driver worked for Murphy. Paula was able to get enough bookings to support her as a full time professional drag racer. The car ran into the eights in the 1967 season. | Paula was at Motor City Dragway on July 22 for a four-car show. In the first round, she beat Arnie Beswick's Tempest with a 9.26/140.40. In the second round, Murphy lost to Bob Sullivan, and in her third race, she lost to Doug Cook who was driving the "Stone, Woods & Cook" Mustang.

Notes: Fred Goeske came to fame as the second owner of the B&M Plymouth Dealers Barracuda in late 1966. Goeske raced the heavy stock rear-engine car until the end of 1967. His season started at Irwindale's New Year's FC race. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the tough eight-car field. At the AHRA Winternationals on January 29, Fred ran 8.94 in the first round, but he lost to Roger Wolford's 8.91. He was back at Irwindale on February 19 for its Factory Showdown race. An 8.83/180.36 in the opening round beat Doug Nash's 9.50/145 Bronco. In the semifinal, Jim Liberman lost fire in the "Brutus" and Goeske's 8.72/182.54 advanced. In the final, he faced Eddie Schartman's Comet. Fred got crossed-up and shut off while Eddie ran 8.71/170 for the victory. On March 19, he qualified #6 for an eight-car show at Carlsbad with an 8.88. He improved to 8.56/181.80 in round one to defeat Pete Gates' Comet, but in the semifinals, despite running a career-best (to this point) of 8.48/184.20 (Top Speed), he lost to "Jungle Jim" Liberman's 8.45/164. He won the "heavy" (2400 lbs.) funny car category at the 4th Hot Rod Magazine Championships at Riverside, CA, in April 1967. His 8.69/183.28 qualified #1, and his 8.72/186.72 (Top Speed) won over Gas Ronda's 9.06/162. In June, Goeske was at Fremont to take on Doug Thorley's new Corvair in a best of three match race. In their first race, Fred ran 8.65/185.56 to beat Doug, who broke a couple of valves. The Corvair was done for the day, and Goeske wanted to make another run and try to top 190. Unfortunately, a blown head gasket held him back to 8.82/168.85, but he won the match. Fred also ran 8.31 at the Lions Manufacturers Meet, Orange County, CA, 11/25/67.

Notes: Hayden Proffitt was one the great racers of the 1960s. Proffitt won many races in Super Stock with a Chevrolet 409, then jumped to a Ford when they gave him a Comet A/FX. Proffitt built a Corvair funny car in 1966. The car began with a top, but it was cut off after the car wanted to lift at speeds. Proffitt got the car to run 8.49. In 1967, Hayden took over the Grant Industries Rebel SST funny car program. Proffitt hired famed Amos Satterlee to tune the large 439 C. I. AMC engine. The problems that original bunch had with the Rebel continued with Proffitt. The red car ran 8.11 at 180.85 before being retired at the end of 1967. In 1968, Hayden put the AMC Rebel body on an unused Logghe Stage II chassis he had. By the end of 1968, AMC dropped out of funny car racing and Proffitt retired from racing for a few years. Hayden returned to racing with a rocket dragster driven by his son Brad. Proffitt later drove the "Hot Streak" jet dragster. (Photo provided by Mike Ditty. Info provided by Draglist.com files) | Started the year at Irwindale on January 1, where he qualified #14 with an 8.50 and defeated Gene Conway on a holeshot in round one, 8.49/166.97 to Gene's 8.39/173.74. He was at OCIR on April 13 where 22 Funny Car's ran. All ran round one where the lowest eight ET's would advance into round two. Hayden advanced by running 8.51/168.53 to beat Rusty Delling's 8.94/171. In round two, the Rebel broke and slowed to a 12.16 that lost to eventual winner Fred Goeske's 8.07. - Ron Howard

Notes: Doug Thorley's Corvair is one of the best-remembered funny cars of the Sixties. It was known both for its performance and its looks. The Corvair replaced his "Chevy 2 Much" '65 Chevy II. The new Pat Foster, Ron Scrima-built piece had tinted Plexiglas windows, a lace paint job, and gold painted Halibrand mags. The car was the poster child of late Sixties fads. Thorley had one of the great weekends of his career at Indy '67. The Doug's Headers Corvair ran 7.693 to win the race over several Hemi-powered machines. He also set Top Speed at 192.30. The 7.69 run and Indy win were the high point of Thorley's funny driving career. The notoriety from the win led to Thorley getting a deal with American Motors to build a rear-engine funny car, but the AMC machines never reached the success of the Chevy. | On August 6/1967, Doug Thorley and his supercharged Corvair ran the quickest pass to date by a Funny Car, a 7.86/184 mph. That day at Lions, he also backed it up with a superb 7.91. At the Indy Nationals of that year, he also ran a nice 7.83, winning the race as well. - BS | Components: 490 cubes (stroked 427 Chev), GMC 6/71 blower, Enderle "bug catcher" injection, Art Carr TorqueFlite-9" Ford rear with 3.90 cogs, exhibition Engineering (Pat Foster and Ron Scrima) chassis, coil-over shocks. He was featured in 9/67 Car Craft. - RT | Doug debuted this car at Irwindale on May 20. On its maiden run, it ran 8.50/172. Thorley was back at Irwindale on May 27 for a best-of-three-match race against Gas Ronda's SOHC Mustang. His car had nothing but problems, and Doug lost three straight. His ailing 12.17 lost to Ronda's 8.72 in their first race. A slightly better 11.01/136.98, lost to the Mustang's 8.67/165 in the second race. And Doug shut the car off early in their last race giving Ronda three straight wins. Doug was at Fremont on June 26 for a best of three match race against Fred Goeske in the "Hemi-'Cuda." Thorley had a lot of problems on this day. Doug broke a couple of valves in their first race and lost to Fred's 8.65/185. Doug could not run after that, and Goeske made a solo run for the match race win. Also ran 191.89 at Manufacturers Meet, Orange County, CA 11/25/67.

Notes: Dale Pulde might have only been a teenager when he began racing funny cars, but he was a very capable teenager. Some say Pulde was and is the best driver ever. The Charlie Wilson owned "Vicious Too" 1967 Camaro was Dale's second funny car ride. The flip-top Camaro replaced the mean "Vicious Vette." Vicious Too was a mid-pack runner with Pulde driving, usually running in the mid to low eights. The car was powered by a 427 Chevrolet Rat engine backed by a B&M automatic transmission. Cragar sponsored the Camaro, and the car ran the heavy Cragar S/ST wheels instead of the standard Halibrands of the day. Pulde drove the car in 1968 and 1969, running a best of 7.91 at 184. Ran as an alternate at OCIR Mfg. Championships 1968. (Photo courtesy Bob Plumer and Drag Race Memories. Stats provided by Dennis Doubleday. Info from Bill Duke and James Ibusuki). | According to an April 16/1974 issue of ND, Pulde ran a best of 7.80 in '68. Dale was at Irwindale for an eight-car show on April 28. He fouled away an 8.42/173 in the opening round of eliminations against Cecil Yother. He came back out to run a consolation race against Charlie Allen. He beat the Dodge driver with an 8.36/170.13. On May 4, Dale was at OCIR for the '68 Funny Car team Championships.36 cars were competing. Pulde did not reach the final. On May 18, he was at Lions for an eight-car show. His 8.27/175.09 qualified #5. In the first round, a blown head gasket slowed him to an 8.44/171.42 in a loss to Rich Hammons' 8.32/173 in the "Sampson."

Notes: This Corvair would have been Ralph Nader's worst nightmare if he had seen it. Michigander Pete Seaton was one of the first match bash funny car racers. The "Seaton's Super Shaker" '67 Corvair was, in fact, his fourth funny car. The new Chevy was built by the Logghe Bros. At their Logghe Stamping Company. A 427 Chevrolet Semi-Hemi powered the car and was backed by a Torqueflite transmission. Terry Hedrick was chosen to drive the wild Corvair. Hedrick's seat of the pants driving style was awe-inspiring to the funny car fans of the sixties. The Corvair garnered many wins while touring the country in 1967 and 1968. Terry won one day and was runner-up the next at the 1967 AHRA Drag World Super Stock Championships at Wichita, Kansas. Was this Corvair unsafe at any speed? Nah. (Stats courtesy Dennis Doubleday, Bill Duke, and James Ibusuki). - BS | He started the season at Irwindale for the New Year's Day Meet where he qualified #1 with an 8.01. A first-round 8.03 advanced him past a fouling Marv Eldridge. He made it past the next two rounds to meet Don Nicholson in the final. An 8.04 by Nicholson put Terry in the runner-up spot. On January 14 for OCIR's eight-car show, Hedrick qualified third with an 8.24/170.77. A first-round 8.28/182.18 beat Dick Loehr's 8.43/168. But in the semi's he was shut off on the line with a fuel leak. On February 25 he raced a best two-out-of-three at OCIR against Nicholson. Don's 8.03/166 and 7.97/172 beat Terry's 8.39/176.12 and 8.36/178.21. He did win the last race with an 8.29/178.57 over Nicholson's shut-off 13.21, but Don won the match. The two met again on April 6 for another best of three match at New York. This time Terry evened the score by winning the match. He won the first race with an 8.00/184.04 over Don's off the track 11.58. Nicholson came back to win the second race with a 7.79/166 over Hedrick's 8.04/182.18. But in the final race, the Corvair set both ends of the track record with a 7.75/185.18 to beat Don and win the match. The next day (April 7), he was at Detroit's Anchorville Motor City Dragway to race Sid Foster's Mustang in a best of three match. Once again Terry set a track record, this time it was an 8.09 at 178. He beat Foster three straight. Nicholson wanted another shot at Hedrick and he got it on May 5 for a best of three at Detroit. Don was now running his new Cougar. Hedrick won the first race with an 8.08/177.51 over "Dyno's" 8.36/164. Nicholson came back to win the second race with an 8.15/171 over the Corvair's 8.16/175.43. But Terry came through to win the match with an 8.09/177.86 to beat Don's shut off run. On May 10 at Union Grove's Night Funny Car Championships he failed to win, but he did set Low ET at 7.80. At Pittsburgh in May, Terry set both ends of the track record with a 7.84/180.36 while winning the Pittsburgh Funny Car Championships over Jim Liberman. A final round 7.92 beat Jim's quicker 7.88. On June 28, Terry was back at Detroit Dragway for the Super Stock Midwest Funny Car Championships. It was a sixteen-car show. Hedrick beat Clare Sanders in the "Limefire" in the first round, with an 8.29/173.07. In round two, a 7.83/179.64 beat Leonard Hughes' 7.94/182. But in the semifinals, against Roger Lindamood, he got out of shape and went into a ditch along side the top end of the track. It damaged the front end pretty good, but Terry was not hurt. Don Gay met up with Terry on August 4 at LaPlace for a best of three match. Terry took the match two straight with runs of 8.02/182.92 and 7.99/178.82. Hedrick got his biggest win of the year on August 18 at New York National for the AHRA Nationals. He ran times of 7.60 (Low ET), 7.63, 7.67 and a final round 7.68 over Dick Harrell for the title. At Minneapolis on September 1, a first-round 7.89/180.36 was wasted when he fouled against Pat Minick (9.00) in the first round. Another match race against Nicholson was run at New York with the "Seaton Shaker" winning the match with a best of 7.75. He lost in the first round, again at Suffolk for an eight-car show when he got crossed up against Mel Perry. On September 29, he was at Windsor Dragway for a best of three against Lindamood. Terry won all three races with runs of 7.79/181.80, 7.77/184.04 and a final 7.93/179.64. On October 6, he won the AHRA World Finals at Kansas City International. Lakeland International held their Fuel Funny Car Championships on October 20 and Hedrick was there. He won his first-round race with an 8.39/179.64 over Terry Ivey's new Torino, but in the second round, he lost a torque converter and the race to Henry Garcia. - Ron Howard

Notes: "All American Boy" Charlie Allen's best remembered funny car was this 1968 Dodge Dart. This was his first flip-top funny car, replacing his A/FX Dart. The new machine marked his first flip-top, one-piece unit. It was a test in part for Crower products. The car ran OK, registering high 7s. Allen built the car with a Contemporary Fiberglass body with Kenny Ellis tin. Charlie raced the car under the blue & silver Atlantic Dodge and Crenshaw Dodge banners in 1968. Allen collected a $2000 win at Irwindale at the 16-car experimental Stock Invitationals. Stats courtesy Dennis Doubleday. Info from James Ibusuki). | Charlie was driving the "Crenshaw" backed Dart at OCIR on July 20. All eight cars ran the first two rounds, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. Allen made sure he got into the final by setting Low ET in the first round, with a 7.60/184.80 that beat Dale Williams in Jess Tyree's Firebird. In his second race, he ran 8.04/188.28 to beat Dee Keaton's 8.34/177.51. In the final, he met up with Ray Alley. The two had a good race going until Allen's transmission failed to shift, and he shut off to 8.83/113.20 while Alley got the win with a strong 7.88/190. In Mid-August, he was at Mission Raceway in BC, where he set the track record down to 7.60. On a backup run, he ran 7.75. He set a 7.68 Irwindale track record in October. - Ron Howard | Formerly listed this car at 7.95. We need to confirm it was this one and not the new red Dart that went the 7.68. - BP

Notes: For 1968, Gates got a 1968 Cougar with a new Logghe chassis. Pete ran the Gate Job Cougar into 1969, then hung up his driving gloves. Text provided by Daryl Huffman. | Listed times from Drag Stat 1969. | At the Gainesville season opener on February 16, Gates won the race over a field that included Gene Snow, Shirl Greer, and Sam Miller. In May, Miami-Hollywood hosted an Funny Car race where Pete got into the final but lost a motor while running Pat Minick for the title. The fire gave him slight burns, but otherwise, he was OK. He beat Frank Federici's "Shark" at New England for a best-of-three-match race on May 18. He won two of the three races with a best of 8.05. On June 8, he raced at Epping for the New England Funny Car Championships, but while facing Bruce Larson in the first round, the car lost fire, allowing Larson a single. Pete ran a 7.80 at Martin, Michigan, at the PHR meet. He lost in round one, to Fred Goeske. On August 30, he was back at US 131 Martin, Mich., for an eight-car show, but his off pace 8.71/138.03 lost to Minick's track records of 7.13/205.46. He got back in on the break rule but fouled against Bryan Teal in the semis. The next day (August 31), he raced at an eight-car show at Minneapolis, but again he lost in the first round, where his 8.30/153.58 lost to Larry Christopherson's 7.75/166 Nova. They raced again the next day (September 1) at Minneapolis, but again he lost in the first round. This time, Minick's 7.35/203.60 got him. Pete shut down to a 9.20/120.64. MPH from (Drag Stat 1969)

Notes: The late Clester Andrews was one of Texas' most successful racers in the first half of the 1960s. Clester's success had come in Stock, Super Stock, and A/FX. In the A/FX wars, he won 40 of 42 match races in his Holman-Moody built 1965 Mustang (according to the Holman-Moody website). That car morphed into his first match bash funny car. In 1967, Andrews replaced the old 1965 Mustang with a new match bash Mustang. Holman-Moody built this new Mustang as well. Ford supplied the rare and powerful injected SOHC that Jack Quinn tuned. Clester got sponsorship from Bardahl and hit the major national events with the car. Andrews raced many match races with the Bardahl 555 Mustang. | Note: This photo shows the earlier '65-'66 Mustang, not a '67. - RT

Notes: Ken McLellan was one of best racers in Texas with the series of McLellan Bros. Fords. The Friona, Texas, based team rose to fame in this unusual Falcon. The team stuffed a 427 Ford Cammer into the altered wheelbased car. The McLellan Brothers usually ran the car on carbs and gas in C, XS, but the A/XS shown here indicates that they may have run more than gas and carbs. The little Falcon won many races until it was replaced with a new S/S Mustang. The McLellan Bros. never returned to the funny car wars, but continued racing national event winning Super Stockers. This photo is of the 1968 version. Started season (1966) with a Ford wedge before switching to the SOHC. Car was run 1966/68. Notes: The "Super Cuda" was one of several funny cars from the Memphis area in the sixties. Pat Collins built the car in 1968 and teamed up with Bill Taylor to race the beautiful candy apple red Plymouth. The Coleman and Taylor team had raced the "Kingfish" funny car. Coleman sold the car and name to T.B. Smallwood after the 1968 season. The "Super Cuda" proved to be just as good as the old car. Logghe Stamping Company built the chassis and the car was powered by a 426 Chrysler Hemi on 55% Nitro backed by a Coleman and Taylor built transmission, of course. Larry Reyes, Larry Arnold, and Sidney Foster all drove the "Super Cuda" to countless wins. Reyes had the best times in the car with a 7.53 at 198, while Arnold ran 7.76 at 193, and Foster ran 7.76 at 196. In 1968, Reyes won the King of Kings Race at Capitol Raceway, the AHRA Drag World Finals in Wichita, and the Super Stock Invitational in Detroit. - BS (Photo courtesy Mike Ditty. stats courtesy Dennis Doubleday. Notes: Car debuted in 64 as a blown gas Fiat altered with chassis built by Barker himself. In 66, the Fiat shell was replaced with a Mustang shell and car began running as a flopper in local shows. Initially ran direct drive for Chrisman like launches. Blown 427 Wedge eventually ran mid 8's at 170 plus. Car won Comp Eliminator at 67 HRM Championships. Car was sold to Aussie racer in late 68, but he ran it with 392.
