Notes: Ran 7.58 (qualified #3) at AHRA Winters at Beeline Arizona 1965. AKA the Blue Car. Drag Sport Illustrated in a 1965 wrap up said this car was the scourge of the area. | Larry was driving this car at Lions for an eight-car show on January 16. The small 331 Hemi dominated the race over the bigger 392 powered cars. Faust qualified #1 with a 7.61/199.10 then set Low ET and Top Speed in a first-round victory over John Wilson with a 7.58/203.16. He had an easy run in the semifinals when Mike Sorokin fouled in the "Surfers" entry. Larry won the event, running a 7.63/201.78 in the final. As mentioned, he qualified #3 at Beeline for the AHRA Winternationals, but a first-round 7.98/200.88 lost to Danny Ongais' 7.60/200. He beat Tom McEwen to take Top Eliminator on the second day of the 2-day Summer Drag Racing Championships at Fontana on Aug. 22, 1965, with a 7.78, 204.54 clocking. He qualified in sixth place at the 1965 Hot Rod Magazine Championships at Riverside with a 7.68, 204.54 clocking. Photo: '65 Hot Rod Magazine Championships - MB

Notes: Danny started the season at Riverside for the KFWB Festival on January 1. It was an eight-car field, and he qualified #8 with an 8.00/196.50. In the first round, he fouled away a 7.99/193.54 against eventual winner Jack Williams. He did much better the next day (January 2) at Fontana for the UDRA race. It was a two-day race run on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, he qualified #2 in the sixteen-car field with a 7.78. Another 7.78 at 194.80 beat Bill Leavitt's 7.89/187 in the first round. In round two, he picked up to a 7.72/198.66 (Low ET and Top Speed) to beat Rick Stewart. In the semifinals, he eased it through with an 8.16/148.51 when Merek Chertkow fouled in John Smyser's car. In the final, he faced Tom McEwen. Ongais got the victory with a 7.80/192.30 over McEwen's runner-up 8.02/198. The following day, they did it again. Ongais ran 7.71/194.38, 7.75/193.54, and 7.72/196.50 over Doug Robinson, Jeep Hampshire, and Mike Sorokin to meet McEwen in the final for the second time in two days. Once again, the results were the same, with Danny getting the win, only this time the "Mongoose" fouled. He won at Carlsbad on April 24, earning the sit-out position for Sunday's final round by beating Bobby Tapia, Rick Stewart, and Mike Snively. In that order. He then went up against Dick Lechien in the final and won with a 7.55/207.36. Bucksdown 4 car. Notes: This short wheelbase dragster (92 inches) was originally built to be a gas dragster, but soon after its first outing at Lions with Bill Alexander driving, it switched over to fuel with Tommy Ivo doing driving duties for most of the 1961 season. Bill Alexander took over driving duties for the 1962/63 season. In 1962, the car was ranked #10 in the nation. The dragster turned in its best time at San Fernando on Apr. 7, 1963. On that date it was running against Jeep Hampshire driving Bill Martin's Chevy A/FD for Top Eliminator when the car flipped and was totally destroyed. Bill Alexander survived, but suffered injuries that kept him out of racing for over half a year. Photo: '63 Winternationals - MB
