Notes: Won Division 4 in 1970. Woodall was at LaPlace Dragway in April for its Spring Drag Festival. It was an eight-car show, and he set Low ET in qualifying low at 6.80. In the opening round, both he and Richard Tharp smoked the tires, but his 7.15/164.17 beat Tharp's 7.83/132. In the semifinal, his 6.91/191.08 lost to Watus Simpson's 6.86/190. Watus hurt his engine on the run and could not make the final, so Chip got back in on the "break rule." In the final, he faced Chris Karamesines, and Woodall's 7.54/166.35 got the victory. Chip qualified #1 with a 6.66 on May 3 at Dallas International for the Division 4 opener. He beat Larry Brown in the first round with a 7.01/161, and in the semifinal, he beat Ronnie Martin's 6.85 with a motor blowing 6.70/196.93. He was unable to run Bennie Osborn in the final. At the following Division 4 race at Southland Dragway, he set Low ET with a 6.82, but he failed to make the finals. He lost in the first round of the Division 4 race at Oklahoma City when Raymond Beadle's 7.34 beat his off-pace 7.50. In June, the team qualified #6 at the NHRA Springnationals in Dallas with a 6.741/213.27. Chip took a leisurely cruise in round one when Dick Custy broke. He beat Kelly Brown in round two, 6.811/200.00 to 6.98/193. Jim Nicoll got a big holeshot win over Chip in round three; however, 6.78/203 to 6.68/214. A 6.77/197.80 qualified second at the NHRA Summernationals, but he shut off in the first round, losing to Pete Robinson's 6.95. He ran at Bristol on August 31 for the eighth AHRA Grand American event, but an off-pace 7.24 lost to Jimmy King's 6.71/215 in the first round. He qualified #7 at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals with a great 6.583 (speed unknown), but he fouled against Robinson in the first round. On September 13, he qualified #1 with a 6.97 at Amarillo for the NHRA Division 4 final. He was the only car in the sixteen-car field to run a six in qualifying. All four runs in eliminations were in the sixes, and he set a track record 6.88 in his second-round win over John Wiebe's 7.02. He also had Top Speed at 211.76. In the final, a 6.98 took the win over Watus Simpson. The team qualified #14 at the Dallas World Finals at an estimated 6.78 (incomplete timesheets). Chip lost to a Preston Davis holeshot in round one, 6.87 to Chip's 6.77/217.91. The team wrapped up the year at the Ontario Supernationals. They qualified #11 at 6.824/212.26 but had troubles in round one and lost to Walt Johnson, 6.85/208 to 8.51/104. |

Notes: Photo from Indy 1990. ET and speed confirmed by Jim Hawkins' DragStats. Dick drove with Miller colors and under his own name this year. We need to confirm where he ran which car. 5.035 Pomona Winters, 279.32 Phoenix, 4.931 Houston Spring, 282.92 Memphis. Best times Englishtown to Indy: 5.004 Englishtown, 281.07 Seattle. | The Miller American cars were owned by Dick LaHaie, not Larry Minor. Larry had the sponsorship deal and got Dick to run his car under the colors while Minor raced his own (Former Gary Beck) car and the funny cars. - Dick LaHaie, Racin & Rockin Radio, 2/24/14 |

Notes: 3 valve heads. Beretta painted to be a LeBaron. Gary Ritter did the majority of driving in '88. We need the best times for this year. Formerly listed 5.87/237, but that was most likely the 1989 Bandimere times. |

Notes: This car is the former 71 Indy winning Whipple & McCulloch Cuda which was repainted and renamed for new owner Jim Murphy. In early 1972 before Jim got his funny car license, both Butch Maas and Ed McCulloch drove this car. Ed won the 1972 Bakersfield March Meet while setting both Low ET (6.96) and Top Speed of the meet (213.76). |

Notes: Per Wikipedia, the NHRA Winternationals TA/D final pitted Denny Lucas against Bill Barney. Lucas's dragster did a wheelstand yet still managed a pass of 6.312 seconds and 216 mph, precisely to the thousandth, the same as Barney's. The win was initially given to Barney, but after examining the videotape recorded by Diamond T Sports, it finally went to Lucas. Denny raced at Ennis All-Stars in April. Listed times from Drag Racing List Winter 87/88, Volume 1, Number 9. |

Notes: Earl qualified #15 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.73/247.93. A 6.03 advanced past the first round when Dan Pastorini fouled. Unfortunately, he broke against Joe Amato in the second round. He did well at Gainesville, qualifying #12 with a 5.61/223.88. That was pretty good, considering 27 cars were attempting to qualify for the NHRA Gatornationals sixteen-car field. In the first round, Whiting slowed to a 5.91/209.30, losing to Dick LaHaie's 5.54/254. At the Bakersfield Meet in May, Earl ran 5.65/252.80 to qualify #4 in the eight-car show. He lost his engine on a 5.91/226 single in the first round when Ralph Pearson broke. Earl could not make it to the line to face Pastorini in the semifinals. Photo from Arizona 1987. Earl ran his best times at Ennis. Earl qualified #12 at the world finals at 5.607/254.38. He lost to Shirley Muldowney in round one. Photo from 1987. |
