Notes: This was before Dodge gave the truck to Bill Golden. I had taken out the stock 426 Hemi and built an injected nitro motor. It gave it the power to do the unexpected. That photo was taken by a Dodge photographer. It was the first wheel stand the LRW did. Kinda started a fad they say. It was actually owned by Dodge Public Relations. Frank Wylie, VP of PR, funded the project. It was given to Dick Branstner (Color Me Gone) in 1964 to see if it could developed into some kind of exhibition car. I worked for him and the project was "assigned" to me. All it need was some horsepower. After I kinda debugged it (including a few heart stopping passes with a supercharged nitro engine), Wylie gave it to Maverick in late 64 to take on tour. The rest, as they say, is history. - Jay Howell |
