Notes: Jim qualified on the "bump" at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals with a 6.037/242.58. In the first round, his 6.125/233.76 fell to Raymond Beadle's 6.04/202 in the "Blue Max."Shortly after that (March 25), he was at Baton Rouge for a best-of-three-match race against Mike Dunn, who was driving the "Hawaiian." White won the match, running a best of 6.37/221 as Dunn found that the traction was not to his liking. White was back at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals at the end of May. He qualified #14 at 6.118/240.64. His 6.40/203 advanced in round one when John Force fouled, but he smoked the tires in round two and lost to Dale Pulde's 5.99. A 6.12/205 qualified #7 in the eight-car field at St. Louis for the AHRA Gateway Nationals. Unfortunately, a broken driveshaft stopped his chance to advance past round one. Won at ADRA Grandnationals race at Dragway 42. Jim ran 6.050/202 at Gary US 30 1984. Jim was the third alternate at NHRA Indy with a 6.016/247.25, his best times of the year. The former Tom McEwen Vette was sold to Dick Moritz, Jamie Hopheimer/Whit Bazemore, Donnie Holbrook, and Troy Ray. |

Notes: White picked up the win at the NHRA Cajun Nationals held at Baton Rouge early in June. It was an eight-car field, and he qualified #4 with a 6.49/212.76. He improved to 6.45/213.77 in the opening round to defeat Danny Pickett, and in the semifinal, his 6.43/213.77 beat Jake Johnston, who was driving the "Pisano and Matsubara" Monza. He faced Billy Meyer in the final, and the race was expected to be close as Billy had run 6.41 in his semifinal win. But Meyer's Camaro broke in their race, and White got the victory with a 6.64/197.80. He was the first alternate at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals with a 6.40/215.82. |

Notes: Meyer was at LaPlace in the first week of May for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. His 7.44/190.67 qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car field. Unfortunately, the run cost him some parts, and he could not run in eliminations. The car was converted to A/Fuel. Larry qualified #18 at Indy (need times) but lost in round one to eventual winner Dave Settles, 6.79/188 to 6.90/196.50. The Cajun Nats were not run in 1976; was the Laplace race a Division 4 event? |
