Notes: 1964 Hemi Dodge factory S/S - A/FX converted in late 1964 to a fully adjustable wheelbase using all Chrysler parts. This was a project Landy worked with the factory on, and it was converted after the 1964 Nationals to a moveable Dodge van front axle that was legal in AHRA. The rear axle could also be adjusted. Landy drove this car through the end of that season. it still exists and owner Pete Haldiman has made a case that it could be considered the first 'altered wheelbase' funny car. Similar changes were made to a Plymouth by Bill Flynn of New England, though Landy's was the most substantial and was documented in Hot Rod magazine. |

Notes: Factory-built AWB. Acid-dipped by AeroChem and built at Amblewagon. Al Klier was also involved in this car in 1965. Smith got this deal as Learner was probably the leading Chrysler Imperial dealer in the Midwest. Car campaigned primarily regionally in 1965 and 1966. This shot is very early in the year, possibly before AHRA Beeline. Eventually converted to fuel injection that summer. Survived intact. Located by Toli Polowick, stabilized by Mike Guffey, restored, now in the Greg & Kathy Mosley collection. Cordova IL 1965 (5/28/65 Drag World) - GS |

Notes: Jon Thorne Motors. The Jayhawker was built as a southern style match racer in the truest tradition. A 1963 Dodge Polara chassis, a 1964 Plymouth nose, and wheelbase alterations. Raced during 1965/66, car survives, was restored, and was actually being wheelstood and run on injected gas until the 1990s as an exhibition car. Believed to be in a private collection. |

Notes: Ran this car from 1965 through 1967. AWB with an adjustable wheelbase system. This was the same car that Bill Jenkins took home the Mr. Stock Eliminator crown in S/SA trim at the 1965 Winternationals. |
