Notes: After the team's win at the NHRA National Championship in Oklahoma City, Buddy Sampson took the '57 Chevy engine prize and left the team. Mudersbach and Dillon shared ownership and driving duties for the rest of the season. They took the car to California and ran at San Gabriel Valley Drag Strip on Oct. 6, clocking 142.18 in B/D for a new track record. They then returned to Arizona for the rest of the season. They ran 138.61 mph at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson in A Open Gas on Oct. 20. Two weeks later, they ran on fuel at Perryville at the 2-day 3rd Annual Championship Drag Meet, clocking 159 mph. On the final day of top fuel eliminations, darkness caused the meet to end before they could make the final run. They split the win with Red Greth. Their final run of the season came at Perryville on Dec. 29 when they took the win in A Open Gas with a 143.5 mph run. Photo: Arizona Republic, June 22, 1957 - MB |

Notes: Starting the season with a Chrysler motor, they took Top Eliminator and the A/D class at Casa Grande Airport on Feb. 9. They followed that up a week later with another Top Eliminator win at Davis-Monthan A.F.B. in Tucson on Feb. 16. But they swapped out the Chrysler for a Buick motor. With the new setup, they won the B Open Gas class at Davis-Monthan on Apr. 20, clocking 115 mph. By October, they were no longer running the dragster. Turk and Cox ran an E/G Chevy, and Franco ran an E/G Ford in 1959. Photo: Arizona Republic, June 8, 1958, and "Just curious (Phx. Hist.), p. 25, in Jalopy Journal, The H.A.M.B. - MB |

Notes: This rear-engined dragster was powered by a '55 Chrysler engine that he debuted at the Perryville race on Apr. 3. At that same race, he also took class wins with his '55 Buick and his '34 Ford. Bryan only raced the dragster this one time before selling the dragster's chassis. He also sold the Cad engine out of his '34 Ford, both being sold in April. Bryan was a successful Indy 500 driver, winning it in 1958. Photo: Arizona Republic, Apr. 3, 1955 - MB |
