Notes: Ronnie qualified #19 at NHRA Pomona at 6.94/217.39. He lost to Henry Harrison in round one, 6.61/223.32 to 7.77/174.71. Martin was at Oklahoma City in May for an eight-car race. He just made one qualifying pass (7.46) before the car broke. He was at Dallas International in mid-June for the NHRA Springnationals. It was a 32-car field; he made it in at #29 (6.807/212.26). Ronnie upset Buddy Cortines in round one, 6.96/187.11 to 11.10-61.30. He then surprised Jim Walther in round two, 6.88/168.22 to 7.82/162.55. Ronnie finally fell to Don Garlits in round three, losing a 6.54/200.00 to 6.84/208.89 decision. At the Grandnatinoals in Quebec, Ronnie qualified #6 at 6.850 (no speed). He did not make eliminations, and Marvin Schwartz took his place in the field. Ronnie ran well in qualifying at Indy, hitting a 6.483/222.77 for the sixth qualifying position. He had a wheelstand and shut off in round one, sending unheralded Roger Rowe on to the next round. That was Ronnie's last NHRA national event of the year. He also ran 6.61 at Houma, Louisiana. |

Notes: Jeep was at Lions on November 9 for an eight-car show. He qualified #1 with a 7.97 and in round one advanced with an 8.15/191.88. A 8.13/189.86 beat the "Dye Engineering" car in the semi-final. In the final, he faced Don Prudhomme in the "Greer-Black" car, and Don's 8.04/188 got the victory over Hampshire's 8.18/189.86.Photo of the 1964 entry. The car they ran in 1963 was a Kent Fuller machine, too, but not this one. |

Notes: Dick won his second UDRA race in a row when he won at Martin, Michigan, on July 4 over an eight-car field. A tire smoking 7.48 best Al Marshall in the first round, and a semifinal 7.46/208.00 beat a wheelstanding Cliff Zink. In the final, he beat Gene Rathgeb's 7.77/215 with a 7.35/206.42. |

Notes: The car was known as the Dick LaHaie / Go Shop / Original Road Runner. LaHaie ran a lot of UDRA circuit races in the midwest. He was on his way to one on April 14 at National Trail when he got into an accident. His tow rig was completely demolished, and his whole family had to go to the hospital to get checked out. Everyone was ok, but he obviously did not make the race at Columbus. He was at Muncie on June 9 for one of the circuit races. His 7.79/199.54 lost to Jim Lutz's 7.45/194 in the Creasy Brothers car in the opening round. On June 22, the UDRA held another race at Cordova. It was an eight-car show. They ran 1,000 feet, and he got an easy pass in the first round when Noel Mauer fouled. In the semifinal, his 6.69/192 beat Ron Colson's sleepy 6.44/189 in the "Sterling Speed" car. He faced Mauer again in the final after Mauer had got back into the show. Once again, Dick caught a good light, and his 6.61/166 beat Noel's much better 6.48/201. The following week, he was at Edgewater for a circuit race. Unfortunately, he lost in the opening round with an off-pace 7.89/176.81. The next stop for the circuit came at Martin, Michigan. He lost in the first round again, where his 7.22/214.28 fell to eventual winner Dave Powers. His speed was the best of the race. |
