Notes: Jerry qualified #14 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.15/193.95. In the first round, his 7.17/192.59 upset #3 qualifier Kurt Johnson's 7.18/192. He ran another 7.17 at 192.88 in round two, but it wasn't enough as he lost to Jim Yates' quicker leaving,7.18/193. He had the quickest Pontiac in qualifying at Firebird Raceway for the NHRA Arizona Nationals. His career-best 7.10/194.25 got him the #5 spot in the field. In the opening round, Troy Coughlin's 7.19/192 fell to his 7. -193.42. A 7.16/193.34 in round two stopped Mark Pawuk's 7.21/192, and he moved into the final by advancing over a fouling Billy Glidden in the semi-final with a 7.25/191.85. He faced the Dodge of Darrell Alderman in the final, and there was no stopping Alderman as he won his second race of the young season. Four Firebirds made the cut at Houston for the NHRA Slick 50 Nationals, and Jerry's was the third quickest of the breed at 7.06/195.90 (eleventh overall). Steve Schmidt fouled against him in round one, and he advanced at 7.10/194.09. In the second round, his 7.12/194.34 lost to eventual winner Scott Goffrion's 7.02/196. Forty cars were attempting to qualify at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, and Eckman's 7.09/194.51 qualified #12. He improved to 7.06/195.10 in the first round to beat Schmidt's late 7.04/196 but his 7.10/194.67 in round two lost to Alderman's 7.03. He ran 7.146/193.42 at NHRA Indianapolis in September.

Notes: Scott drove Warren Johnson's #2 car for '91. He started his season by qualifying #4 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.26/190.15. Unfortunately, he fouled against Gordie Rivera in the first round. At the NHRA Arizona Nationals, a 7.34/187.69 qualified #6. But in round one, he and Tony Christian ran 7.35 (Scott at 186.72), but Tony won. The next stop was at Houston for the NHRA Supernationals. A 7.28/189.35 qualified #5, and he beat Jerry Haas in the first round, and in round two, his 7.25/188.24 beat Bob Glidden's 7.27/189. In the semifinals, he improved to 7.23/189.39 to beat Don Beverley and move into the final. His final-round opponent was his future teammate, Darrell Alderman. It was a close race as both drivers ran 7.21/190.63! But Alderman got a better start and took the win. The next NHRA event was the Gatornationals. Scott qualified #4 with a 7.24/190.39. In the first round, he got left on by Butch Leal, and his quicker 7.35/188.16 lost to Leal's 7.37/187. Rockingham hosted the NHRA Winston Invitational in April, and Scott's 7.23/191.81 qualified #2 for the show. He beat Lee Dean in the first round, with a 7.33/188.99, but in the second round, another 7.33 at 188.79 lost to Jerry Eckman's 7.32/187. It was then off to Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. For the second event in a row, he qualified #2 behind Alderman's 7.22 with a 7.26/189.19. He beat Beverley in the first round before breaking on the line in round two against Eckman. Alderman and Geoffrion also qualified one-two at the next NHRA event, the Mid-South Nationals at Memphis, where Scott's 7.31/189.31 followed Darrell's 7.30. A first-round 7.34/189.51 beat Gary Brown, but a sleepy 7.33/188.91 in round two lost to Eckman's 7.43/187. Alderman and Geoffrion continued their #1 qualifying spot battle at the NHRA Springnationals, and once again, Darrell got the top spot with a 7.29 while Scott followed in the #2 spot with a 7.31/188.75. Scott ran 7.35/187.79 in the first round over James Antonette, while a second round 7.38/187 beat Glidden's slightly quicker 7.37/188. In the semifinals, he came up against his boss, Warren Johnson, and Scott's 7.41/185.95 finished second best to WJ's 7.34/187. The NHRA tour then traveled up north to Canada for the Grandnationals. Alderman was off in qualifying (#13), while Scott picked up the pole with a 7.23/190.88. A 7.29/190.23 in the first round beat Haas, while another 7.29 at 189.59 in round two beat Eckman. He picked up to 7.26/189.67 in the semifinals, but it wasn't enough to beat Alderman's 7.23/189. During the past 12 months, Geoffrion had amassed enough points to qualify for the NHRA Pro Stock Challenge race held at Englishtown in conjunction with the Summernationals. Only the top eight cars made the field. Scott fell to a Bruce Allen holeshot in the first round, where his 7.32/188.52 lost to Allen's 7.34/188. He didn't do much better the following day for the Summernationals. He qualified #4 with a 7.25/190.59, but an off-pace 7.43/187.81 in the first round, lost to Frank Iaconio's 7.34/187. After such a bad outing at Englishtown, he won the Pro Stock Open race at Maryland International. He qualified #2 behind WJ's 7.35 with a 7.38. Scott beat Robert Hardy and Harry Scribner in the first two rounds before running 7.35 in the semifinals to beat Rickie Smith's 7.40. In the final, it was an all-Warren Johnson show. Scott was free to go for it with no points on the line. Another 7.35 in the final got the victory over his boss's 7.41. The 10th race on the NHRA schedule was the Mile High Nationals in Denver. Scott ran 7.72/177.20 to qualify #6 in the thin air. A quick-leaving 7.78/175.47 in the first round beat Smith's 7.77/175. In round two, a 7.72/177.58 beat Larry Morgan's 7.76/177, and a semifinal 7.70/178.00 took out Alderman. This set up another Warren Johnson team car final. WJ prevailed with a 7.66/179 over Scott's runner-up effort of 7.76/176.64.With his final round finish, he remained fourth in points but closed in on Glidden, who had lost in the second round.Shortly after that, he was at Sonoma for the NHRA California Nationals, where his 7.27/191.97 qualified #7.In the first round, his 7.28/191.73 fell to Jim Yates' 7.26/188.A few days later(July 31), he drove Don Beverley's car at the Pro Stock Invitational at Woodburn. He was back in WJ's second car at Seattle in the first week of August for the NHRA Northwest Nationals.A 7.30/188.52 qualified #5. He improved to 7.26/189.59 in round one to beat Rivera's 7.32/187, and another 7.30 at 189.39 beat Allen's 7.30/189 in round two. He faced his boss in the semifinal, and WJ's 7.24/191 defeated his 7.34/187.53. Scott duplicated his year's best ET with a 7.218 at Maple Grove. His best speed came at Topeka Fall at 192.84.

Notes: Ran 194.51 at Houston Spring. | Bob started the '93 season by qualifying #7 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.22/191.61. He advanced past the first-round with a 7.22/191.53 when his son Rusty Glidden broke on the line. In round two, his 7.28/172.84 lost to Kurt Johnson's 7.23/191. At the second NHRA race of the season, the Arizona Nationals, a 7.25/190.23 qualified #6 in the field. In the first round, both he and opponent Scott Geoffrion ran 7.24 (Bob at 190.88), but the Dodge got the win. Glidden's next stop was at Houston for the NHRA Supernationals. Bob qualified #2 with a 7.07/194.51. He beat Brad Klein's 7.24/188 in the first round, with a 7.16/192.51. In the second round, another 7.16 at 192.43 beat Jim Yates' 7.21/191. He got past a fouling Paul Rebeschi in the semifinals, advancing with a 7.14/192.47. In the final, he was up against Larry Morgan. Both ran strong, but Bob got himself NHRA victory number 83 with a 7.13/193.34 over Morgan's 7.14/192. After winning the last event it was surprising to see Bob's name among the non-qualifiers at the NHRA Gatornationals. Glidden had run a best of 7.17/193.00 in qualifying, but it was good for the second alternate spot for the show. He did much better at Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational. A 7.15/194.00 qualified #7 and in round one, he improved to a 7.12/194.59 to beat Joe LePone Jr's'7.19/193. He soloed with a 7.16/193.54 in round two when Morgan was unable to show after crashing in round one. In the semifinals, he beat Yates' 7.22/191 with a 7.17/193.75 to advance to the final. In the final he ran Warren Johnson. Bob ran his slowest time of eliminations, a 7.24/192.22 that lost to WJ's 7.12/195.

Notes: Qualified 15th at Indy 82 at 7.959 with a big 175.78 mph speed. A first-round 8.03 beat John Lingenfelter's quicker 7.93, but he lost to Bob Glidden in round two. He set Low ET in qualifying #1 at an eight-car Pro Stock race at Englishtown. Ronnie made it into the final before breaking and giving Joe Lepone the win. In November, he was at Suffolk for the Little Guy National Open. Manchester ran a career-best (to this point) 7.78/173.41 to qualify #2. A first-round 7.90/173.41 beat Wyman Barnett's Arrow, but in the semifinals, he fouled against Jeff Velde.

We formerly listed a best speed of 199.14, but that was not on the NHRA national event trail. Where and when was that run?

Notes: Mark qualified #6 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.21/192.30. He beat Jim Yates' 7.21/190 in the first round, with a 7.22/191.61. In the second round, he slipped to 7.26/192.22 and lost to Scott Geoffrion's 7.24/190. At the Motorcraft Nationals in Arizona, a 7.25/191.04 qualified #4. Another 7.25 at 191.44 beat Gordie Rivera's 7.29/190. In the second round, he picked up to 7.22/191.65 to take out Jerry Eckman's 7.31/189. In the semifinals, a 7.23/191.57 beat Bruce Allen's 7.25/191, putting him in the final against Larry Morgan. Mark ran his best time of the weekend, a 7.20 at 191.53, to pick up his third NHRA National event title over Morgan's 7.26/189 runner-up effort. His next stop was at Houston for the Slick 50 Nationals. Once again, he qualified #4, but this time it took a 7.10/193.59 to get the spot. A first-round 7.18/192.71 lost to Rusty Glidden's 7.16/191. At the fourth NHRA race of the season, the Gatornationals, Pawuk debuted a new Ness-built Cutlass. It performed well, running 7.11/193.79 to qualify #5. He beat Allen in round one, and in round two, his 7.17/191.81 beat Eckman's 7.23/190. His run came to an end in the semifinals, where he fouled away a 7.17/192.47 against the race's eventual winner Warren Johnson, who advanced with a 7.13/193. At the NHRA Winston Invitational at Rockingham, Mark qualified #3 with a 7.13/193.17. "Trickie Rickie" Smith pulled a holeshot in the first round that Pawuk just couldn't catch. Smith's 7.18/192 sent Pawuk packing with a 7.14/193.79. It was then off to Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. Mark continued to qualify in the top half of the field with a 7.19/192.06 that was good for the #6 spot. Unfortunately, he lost to Morgan in the first round. Memphis was the next stop on the NHRA schedule for the Mid-South Nationals. For the first time this season, Mark didn't qualify in the top half of the field. His 7.24/190.96 put him in the #13 spot. In the first round, he had problems and slowed to 7.41 in a loss to Morgan's 7.24. Things returned to normal in qualifying at Englishtown for the Mopar Parts Nationals. Mark's 7.13/193.42 qualified #5, but he still lost in the first round. Iaconio got a good start, and his 7.20/191 held on to beat Pawuk's 7.18/193.17. The eighth race of the NHRA season was the Springnationals. Mark did not run well there. His 7.27/190.83 qualified #11, but he took an early exit in the first round when Bob Glidden's 7.28/190 beat his 7.35/190.03. Did Pawuk get Summit backing in the middle of the year?

At the NHRA Arizona Nationals, Mark’s 7.14/194.13 qualified #13. In round one, his 7.19/193.00 beat Kurt Johnson's 7.20/192, but an off-pace 7.21/192.92 in round two lost to Jerry Eckman's 7.16/193. Just qualifying for these fields was tough, but Pawuk continued to do so at Houston for the NHRA Slick 50 Nationals. There, his 7.06/195.73 got him the #12 spot in the show. But in round one, Kurt paid him back for his loss at the previous race. Johnson’s 7.07/196 easily beat Mark's 7.14/193.94. Mark qualified #15 at Englishtown for the NHRA Mopar Parts Nationals with a 7.10/195.14. An off-pace 7.34/186.52 in the first round, lost to Jim Yates' 7.09/195. Notes: Roy Hill was definitely a fan of this type of "no-rules", mountain motor racing. He started the season at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. An 8.50/162 qualified #4 in the eight-car field. A first-round 8.39/163 beat Calvin Nabors' 8.62/161 and an even better 8.36/165.13 beat Pat Musi's 8.50/161 in the semifinals. It was a Ford vs Mopar final as Hill went up against Wayne Gapp's Pinto. But the Pinto got out of shape in the final and Wayne shut down while Hill ran 8.39/164 for the victory. He then went to Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships where his 8.38/165 qualified #3 behind the Chevys of John Brumley and Lee Edwards. An opening round 8.49/163 beat Sam Carroll's 8.67/155 and an 8.50/162 in round two took out alternate Ellis Milner's 8.75/155. He moved into his second IHRA final of the season by running an 8.54/165 in the semifinals against a fouling Brumley. Unfortunately, he faced the strong Vega of Edwards in the final and lost. He did not attend the next three IHRA event and in August he was at Budd's Creek, Maryland, driving Musi's Monza.

Notes: Qualified third at AHRA Fremont at 9.054/151.77 on 3/30/74. 8.99 at St. Louis 74. | Larry had one of the strongest Mopars in '74, even when running in NHRA competition with their 7.00 lbs per cubic inch weight break for Hemi powered cars. At the AHRA Winternationals, Larry qualified #10 with a 9.24. A first-round 9.25/149.75 lost to Bill Jenkins' 8.92/153. He then went to Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals where he was one of three Mopars to qualify. His 9.22/149.25 put him in the #13 spot for the show. Once again he lost in the first round, this time Wally Booth's 9.09/150 stopped his 9.34/148.02. As mentioned above, he qualified #3 at the AHRA Northern Nationals where he lasted until the semifinals where his 9.07 lost to Bill Bagshaw's 8.93. On April 6 he was at OCIR for the AHRA Grand American race. Huff set Low ET at 8.96 in qualifying #1 and lasted until the final where he fouled away a 9.11/151.77 while Bagshaw motored to the victory with a 9.04/152. His next good showing came at Green Valley on May 8 where he qualified #1 with an 8.91 (Low ET). Unfortunately, he failed to reach the finals. He won the next AHRA Grand American race at Dragway 42. Jenkins fouled against him in the final and Larry took the win with a 9.10/153.58. Another win came at Spokane where he won the AHRA Springnationals by stopping Pete Kost in the final with a 9.19/149.50. The next AHRA Grand American race was the Drag Nationals at Kansas City on July 7. Huff's 9.14/148.51 qualified #2 behind Jenkins' 9.04/150. These two would work their way to the finals. Larry beat Jerry Haas in the first round, with a 9.15 while in the semifinals a 9.18/148.76 advanced when Ronnie Sox fouled. Jenkins ran 9.05 twice to reach the finals against him. In the final, the Vega fell off to 9.09/149, but it was still more than enough to beat Huff's 9.26/148.76. He got back into the winner's circle at St. Louis for the AHRA Gateway Nationals. There he set Low ET at 8.98 and in the final his 8.99/152.07 beat Warren Johnson's 9.10/152. The tables were reversed on August 25 at Tulsa for the AHRA American Challenge race. This time Johnson beat a fouling Huff in the final. Times were close with Warren's 9.22/150 getting the win over Larry's 9.21/149.

Notes: Brad attempted to qualify at Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals, but his best of 8.728/155.7 was good for the second alternate spot. The following week (September 7), he was at Jackson County Sports Park for an NHRA Divisional race. It was an eight-car field and his 8.82 best failed to qualify. The next stop was at Seattle for the NHRA Fallnationals, Brad ran 8.621/156.52 to qualify #12. In the first round, he got a little out of shape and crossed the centerline, losing to Lee Shepherd. At the season ending NHRA World Finals, Yuill qualified #10 with an 8.660/157.34. He lost to Bob Glidden in round one, 8.52 to 8.77. Formerly listed 8.545. Removing that time until we get confirmation.
