Notes: Pat qualified #3 at the IHRA Winternationals with a 5.42/265.48, but in the first round, the tires went up in smoke, and he lost to John Carey (5.49/268). He made his first NHRA appearance of the year with a 5.274/276.58 qualifying attempt at the Gatornationals but was only good for the third alternate. At the next NHRA event, the Southern Nationals, a 5.171/280.72, again got him a third alternate slot. A 5.38/266.27 (#6) did get Pat into the eight-car show a Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, but an improved 5.30/271.41 lost to Jack Ostrander's 5.21/279 in the first round. At the NHRA Springnationals, a 5.136/282.04 qualified Dakin #12. Unfortunately, he lost to Ed McCulloch in the first round with a nine-second shutoff. Dakin's next major event was the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5, where he qualified #6 in the eight-car show with a 5.37/259.36. In the first round, his 5.46/243.96 lost to Eddie Hill's 5.29/268. Notes: Curt Swartz photo from Bristol, TN, 1992. Richard qualified #7 with a 5.54/256.77 at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. He ran a better 5.46/258.02 in the first round, to beat Ken Korestsky's 5.50/263, but he broke in the semifinals, giving John Carey a free ride into the final. He failed to make the field at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals where he was first alternate with a 5.45/256.33. He rebounded by qualifying #5 at the IHRA Summernationals at Cayuga with a 5.28/269.70. Unfortunately, he smoked the tires to a 7.03/125.73 in the first round, that lost to Robert Reehl's 5.25/271. In Aug, Langson was at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. A 5.44/262.31 qualified #6, but a first-round 5.38/258.24 was no match for Jack Ostrander's 5.11/271. Ron Swearingen joined the team as crewchief and his help rewarded the team with a win on August 30 at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. A 5.22/273.30 qualified #4 and he ran a strong 5.18/277.17 in the semifinal to beat Maurice DuPont's 5.22/260. In the final he met Wayne Bailey, and Richard ran another strong 5.19/275.56 to pick up the win. On September 27, a 5.16/273.47 qualified #2 at Darlington for the IHRA US Open. He beat Ostrander's 5.73/233 in the first round, with a 5.65/246.98, but in the semifinals he smoked the tires to a 6.28/182.11 that lost to Carey's 5.45/262. He qualified #2 again at the season ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol with a 5.17/265.48. A first-round 5.22/261.09 beat Pat Dakin's 5.32/246 and a semifinal 5.25/265.95 beat Ostrander. In the final he ran Bruce Larson, but a 5.26/269.46 was good for the runner-up spot to Larson's 5.19/283. |

Notes: Photo from Bristol, TN, 1992. Confirmed 5.932/239.80 at NHRA Englishtown 92. | Lagana qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car show at the IHRA Empire Nationals in July with a 6.11/238.53. He beat Whit Bazemore in the first round, with a 6.16/232.19, but in the semifinals his off-pace 6.71/176.74 lost to Paul Smith's 5.84/239. He was at Englishtown shortly after that, for the NHRA Summernationals where once again he was on the "bump" although this time it was a sixteen-car field. Bob's 5.93/239.80 just made the show and in the first round, he broke against low qualifier Cruz Pedregon. |
