Notes: Dave was the 1966 Division 5 Champ. The 6.86 followed by a 7.01 using an early multi-plate Crower slipper clutch (at NHRA regional event at Minneapolis in 7/67). High speed runs using a special rear-end gear. DNF due to later clutch failure (excessive heat w/full slipper clutch destroyed too many components). - Fred Becchetti. | Update 7/17: Terry thought the 6.86 was 9/67, but we found some newspaper articles about the meet and it appears it was July 1967. That is my recollection as it was one of the quickest runs at the time (below NHRA record?), but our 7.01 didn't back it up. Speed on that run was 214. Went faster later, but can use 214. ET was ahead of later 6-second runs (e.g., at US Nationals, when real slipper clutches had been developed). Partner Terry still looking for time slip. Had it/misplaced it! - FB
