Notes: Pomona Drag Strip was close to where Gerald L. Dilbeck lived and where he did most of his racing in 1958. At Pomona on Apr. 27, Dilbeck turned 12.80 at 103.44 mph in winning the C/A class. He took another C/A class win on May 18 at Pomona with 12.35 at 107.65 mph. At the 3-day Universal Championship at Colton on June 1, he won C/A class with 12.98 and a strip record 106.50 mph. At Pomona on June 29, he took a C/A class win with 13.02 at 104.00 mph. On July 4 at Pomona at the 6th Annual Southern California Championships, he racked up another C/A win with 12.86 at 104.86 mph. On July 20 at Pomona, he took another C/A win with 12.75 at 107.01 mph. At the last race before Pomona shut down for the operation of the L.A. County Fair, he continued his string of wins with 12.71 at 107.91 mph on Aug. 18. When Pomona reopened on Oct. 19, Dilbeck took up where he left off, taking C/A with 12.49 at 107.01 mph.
