Notes: Though running as a gasser was certainly not this car's usual element, having it classified here as both C/GS and A/GS seems to call for some written collaboration. Perhaps it had weight aded to run in the lower class? - RT

Notes: Harry was the fourteenth alternate at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals at 7.53/184.38. He also failed to qualify at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where he was the fifteenth alternate at 7.47/186.41. He was at the Texas Motorplex for the IHRA Texas Nationals in mid-April. His 7.42/185.41 qualified #11, but he lost to Jerry Eckman in the opening round. At Memphis, Scribner's 7.51/185.75 qualified #15 for the NHRA Mid-South Nationals. In round one, his 7.55/184.80 advanced when Geoffrey Bailey fouled. In the second round, a 7.59/180.57 dropped Morris Johnson Jr's 7.62/185. He fouled against eventual winner Tony Christian in the semi-final. At the end of the month, his next stop was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. Harry's 7.43/186.79 qualified #6. But he was late in round one, and his 7.45/186.14 fell to Joe Lepone's 7.51/183. He qualified #4 at the NHRA Grandnationals with a 7.42/186.38. He was upset in the first round by a quick-leaving Butch Leal. Shortly after, he was in Milan, Michigan, for the IHRA Northstar Nationals. He qualified with a 7.48 and improved to 7.47/186.10 in the first round to advance when Mark Pawuk broke. He made it to the semi-final, where his 7.51/185.10 beat Ken Koretsky's 7.59/184. He faced the T-Bird of Rickie Smith in the final, and Smith got the "jump." His 7.52/187 held off Scribner's quicker 7.49/185.07 runner-up effort. The following week (July 17), a 7.43/186.18 qualified #4 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. Unfortunately, the car broke against Bruce Allen in the first round. The Scribners won their only NHRA National event at Sears Point this year. Harry's best ET was a weird 7.327 at only 178.57 at Houston Fall, followed by a 7.970/136 loss to Bob Glidden in round one. He was in the 7.40s all year, however. His best speed was the 188.56 at Sears Point.

Notes: Ex. S/S, AHRA Ultra Stock. Built this car out of a body in white. Confirmed 10.21 at Cecil County and 127.47 former listing. Sam said that this car went 9.80s at 136 in 1969, the only year they ran the car. Repeated as the winner of the CARS Magazine Meet at Cecil County, again beating Bill Jenkins in the final. The car was restored by an owner in Washington state. Sam managed the resto. See 4-page Car Craft feature.

Notes: Ran 8.90/153.84 at Englishtown, 8.99/153.06 at Indy, 154.10 National Record at Pomona Winters, 8.83/154.90 National Records at Beech Bend WCS, and 8.811 National Record at 74 World Finals (at 154.63). Ran 154.37 at Sanair. | Bob started the '74 season the right way, by winning the AHRA Winternationals at Beeline in January He qualified #1 with an 8.89/154.90 (speed was tops for the race and a new AHRA record), and in the first round, beat Joe Satmary with an even quicker 8.88/153.58. In the second round, his 8.91/152.80 beat Ken Dondero's 9.10/152 in Don Nicholson's Pinto. In the semifinals, Bob's 8.94/153.84 beat Wayne Gapp's 9.03/151. In the final, he met up with Bill Jenkins in his Vega. Glidden got the holeshot and his 8.93/152.08 beat Jenkins' Low ET of the meet effort of 8.85/154. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, once again Bob qualified #1 with an 8.94/154.10 (Top Speed). He beat Dave Kanners Hornet in the first round, with a 9.04/152.80. In round two, he took out the other AMC entry, Wally Booth's Hornet, with a 9.01/152.80, but in the semifinals, he faced off against Jenkins again. This time Bill set Low ET of the meet with an 8.91/153 to beat Bob's 9.09/143.76. The next big event was the NHRA Gatornationals. Bob never really did very well at this race and in '74 it was no different. He qualified #9 with a 9.09 setting up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Gapp. In that race, Glidden had transmission problems and lost to Wayne's 9.19. Indianapolis hosted the NHRA Division 3 Opener in May and Bob was one of three Pro Stock cars to qualify in the "eights." His 8.97 qualified #2 behind Bobby Yowell's 8.92 in Billy Stepp's Dodge. Yowell went on to dominate this race, setting Low ET and Top Speed along the way. Glidden was at National Trail in June for the NHRA Springnationals. He qualified #2 with a 9.06/153.06 (Top Speed). A 9.18/141.77 beat Gapp's 9.29/145 in round one, while a 9.12/152.28 advanced past a fouling Scott Shafiroff in round two. In the semifinals, he beat Joe Satmary's Camaro with a 9.10/152.28, putting him in the final against Roy Hill. Hill's best of eliminations was 9.26 so in the final he gambled on the 'tree and lost. Bob got the victory with a 9.11/153.06. The following week (June 16), he was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. He qualified #1 with a 9.03/151.77 (Low ET and Top Speed). He beat Jerry Miller in the "Jeg's" Pinto in the first round, with a 9.19/149.00, but in round two, Reid Whisnant pulled a holeshot and his 9.20/148 beat Bob's quicker, but later 9.17/147.78. Maple Grove hosted a big sixteen-car Pro Stock race in June and Bob was there. He ran a 9.08/150.75 in the first round, but in round two he fouled against Kanners. Glidden won the NHRA 1/8 Mile Drags at Kentucky. A 5.80 in the final beat Satmary's 5.92. He ended the month of June with a runner-up finish to Gapp at the IHRA Northern Nationals on June 30. Glidden set Low ET and Top Speed while qualifying #1 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with an 8.90/153.84. He beat alternate Charlie Castaldo in round one, with a 9.02, but in the second round, both he and opponent Larry Lombardo in Bill Jenkins' Vega ran 9.13 with Larry getting the win light. Maryland International held the Pro Stock Open and Bob qualified #2 in the sixteen-car field. He won his first-round race over Hill and in the second round his 8.95/153.94 (Top Speed) advanced to the semifinals when Shafiroff's Vega broke. Unfortunately, the race never finished as rain interrupted the proceedings before the semifinals. Bob followed the NHRA tour into Canada for the Grandnationals in early August. He qualified #4 with an 8.96/154.37 (Top Speed). In the first round, he beat Sam Gianino with an 8.97/152.81. In round two, he improved to an 8.92 over Richie Zul's 9.10. He quickened his pace again in the semifinals when his 8.90/153.58 stopped Booth's Hornet at 9.09. In the final, he faced Gapp in his four-door Maverick. Wayne was no slouch as he had reset the NHRA Pro Stock record in qualifying with an 8.86. Sure enough, in the final, Wayne's Maverick got the win with an 8.90/145 over Bob's 9.01/153.32. At the third NHRA Division 3 race at Tri-City, Yowell won again, but Glidden set Low ET and Top Speed at 9.02/151.51 before slowing to a 9.25/136.15 in the final that lost to Bobby's 9.09/149. Bob got his biggest win of the year at Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals on September 2. He was fighting hard against Ford "teammates" that were running the long wheelbase cars for a better weight break. Bob qualified #2 at Indy with an 8.99/153.06 between two of the long wheelbase cars, Gapp at 8.95 and Don Nicholson at 9.01 in his "new" '70 Mustang. At the end of round two (32 car field) most of the "heavy hitters" were left. In round three, Bob's 8.99/153.06 beat Booth's quicker 8.96/150. In the semifinals, he won on another holeshot as his 9.00/151.77 beat Kanners' quicker 8.97/151. This put him in the final against Nicholson who had lane choice due to an 8.96 in the semifinal. But in the final, "Dyno" fouled away a 9.01/151 while Glidden grabbed his second Nationals victory with a 9.01/151. It would have been a close race! Bob won the Supernationals at Ontario over Wayne Gapp, running a new record 8.811 at 154.63. Those were his best NHRA national event times of the year.

Notes: Glidden debuted this car at Edgewater on July 9 for the NHRA Division 3 Points race. The unique machine replaced Bob's Pinto, in which he began the season. It was a promising debut, as he scored 8.76/152.54 to qualify #2 behind Joe Satmary's 8.75/154. An improved 8.66/154.90 in the opening round of eliminations beat Phil Gingerich, while a semifinal 8.68/153.58 handled Dave Avery. Bob faced Satmary in the final, and his 8.65 (Low ET) at 154.10 beat Joe's 8.75/153. A week later (July 16), he was at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, where he scored his sixteenth NHRA National Event victory. He qualified #1 with an 8.62/154.90 and then ran 8.58/148.02 in the first round to beat Dempsey Hardy's 8.80/153. An 8.535 (Low ET) in round two at 152.54 beat Richie Zul's 8.66/156. That was the quickest side-by-side race in history at that point. An 8.55/149.00 in the semifinals beat Wally Booth's 8.70/154. In the final, he met up with Bill Jenkins' Monza, driven by Larry Lombardo. Bob got the win with an 8.55/154.37 over Larry's 8.71/155. It was also interesting to note that this was his tenth straight NHRA final-round appearance. That was followed by a trip to Maryland International for its US Pro Stock Open event. It was an eight-car show, and Glidden's 8.66 qualified #1. An even better 8.64 in round one beat Satmary's 8.84, but Zul cut a great light in the semifinals, and his 8.80 hung on to win over Bob's quicker 8.66. On July 30, Glidden went to the final NHRA Division Two race at Miami-Hollywood. His 8.69/152.80 advanced in the opening round when Art Gravatt fouled. A semifinal 8.71/153.58 beat Jim Kinnett's 8.95/154. He faced Dempsey Hardy in the final, and Bob made winning look easy as he set Low ET with an 8.65/154.32, scoring the victory over Hardy's 8.84/154. Then it was off to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals. Of course, he qualified #1, this time with an 8.585 at only 148.51. The field was short a car, so Bob got the "odd-lot" solo and ran another 8.58 at only 151.26 to advance. Frank Iaconio's 8.73/154 fell to the Fairmont's 8.55 at only 149. He faced Larry Lombardo, driving Bill Jenkins' Monza in the final. "Grumpy" had been taking shots at Bob for his new Fairmont, calling it down. So Glidden really enjoyed beating Larry's 8.72/166 in the final, with another 8.550 (Low ET) at a shutting-off way early 144.46! He did that just to bug Jenkins a bit. By now, the big white "boxcar" was bugging everyone as it was proving itself unbeatable. His next stop came at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. He set Low ET of the meet in qualifying #1 for the sixteen-car field with an 8.68. Round one saw his 8.72/155.70 beat Joe Gouger's 9.06/142. Warren Johnson fouled away an 8.76/154 against him in round two, and Bob advanced with an 8.72/157.61 (Top Speed). He made like a bracket racer in the semifinals, where he ran his third straight 8.72 (at 156.52) to beat Satmary's 8.80/154. Once again, he faced Lombardo in the final, and once again, the results were the same. Bob's 8.74/152.54 got the victory over Larry's far behind 8.89/153. The domination continued at the final NHRA Division Three race at Beech Bend. Bob ran 8.68/158.17 (Top Speed) and 8.64/168.17 to beat Avery and Gouger in eliminations. He went up against Satmary in the final. Joe took a chance and fouled away an 8.74/154, while Glidden notched another win with his 8.64 at only 145.39. Before Indy, Glidden was awarded the "Pro Stock Driver of the Year" by Car Craft Magazine. Bob was the low qualifier at Indy at 8.622/157.61, finally showing some top end. he beat a fouling Dempsey Hardy in round one, 8.648/153.84 to 8.78/154. In round two, Bob took out Mark Yuill, 8.606/154.37 to 8.81/154. Frank Iaconio gave it a good shot against Bob in the semis but was a tenth behind his Low ET pass of 8.600/153.84 to 8.70/155. In the final, Joe Satmary's 8.77/155 finished more than two car lengths back. In Seattle, Bob ran even quicker. He qualified #1 at 8.557/155.70. In round one, his 8.52/154.34 beat Brad Yuill's 8.75 (speed unknown). Bob ran 8.52/157.34 to beat Wally Booth's 8.67/153 in round two. Lee Shepherd fouled against him in the semis, but Bob ran 8.555/152.54 to Lee's 8.70/154 anyway. In the final, Bob set the Low ET and Top Speed of the Meet at 8.499/158.52 to beat Frank Iaconio's game 8.57/155. Bob wrapped up his dream season at Ontario for the World Finals. An 8.556/156.79 was the low qualifier, and he commenced race day with an 8.610/153.32 to 8.78/154 win over Andy Mannarino. An 8.635/156.25 took out Warren Johnson's 8.82/155 in round two, and an 8.587/157.06 beat Wally Booth's off-pace pas in the semis. That speed tied for Top Speed of the Meet, which was awarded to Mark Yuill, who had run the number in qualifying. In the final, Bob again defeated Larry Lombardo, 8.617/156.25 to 8.74/155. What a season! Every other Pro Stock racer was scared of this car. Bob was running 8.4s while shutting down early! That was unheard of. People were speculating that if he ran it out the back door, it would have run over 160. Bob won the NHRA Championship.

Notes: Confirmed 9.933/137.82 at Indy 1972. Ran 9.79 at Atco 1972. Atco ad advertising match race with the Baldwin Super Camaro in March 72 claimed 9.72/141 times. Al beat Lee Edwards in a best of three match race at Atco. Shortly after that, he was at Cecil County, where he ran 9.70 twice and a 9.69. In August, he was at Maple Grove for its Pro Stock Championships. It was an eight-car show, and he qualified #5. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Rich Mirarcki. Joniec tried hard, but his 9.87/139.10 lost to Mirarcki's 9.68/139. According to Joniec, he got a best 0f 9.38/146 with it by the end of '72. He got that time running the Boss 429 as he had run out of parts for the "cammer."

Notes: Bob started his '73 season at OCIR on January 21 for the second All-Pro race. It was an eight-car field, and his 9.60 qualified #4. He improved to 9.51/145.16 in the opening round to beat Larry Johnson, but a even better 9.48/145.86 lost to Larry Huff's 9.49/145 in the semifinal. The following week, he was at Beeline Dragway for the AHRA Winternationals. He qualified #6 with a 9.38/147.54. A 9.53/144.69 won in the opening round of eliminations. In the second round, his 9.58/143.51 lost to Wayne Gapp's 9.28/143. At Pomona's 32 car show for the NHRA Winternationals, Lambeck's 9.538/147.29 qualified #9. He won his first-round race with a 9.602/145.16 over Mike Johnson's 10.62/135 and ran 9.684/144.69 when Melvin Yow failed to show in time. But in round three, his ailing 10.946/91.74 lost to Don Carlton's 9.50/145. That was Bob's last NHRA national event of the year. Shortly after that, he was at Holtville Raceway for its Pro Stock Championships. A 9.65 qualified #2 in the eight-car show behind Ken Van Cleave's 9.52. His 9.60 advanced in round one, but he fouled against Dale Falk in the semifinal. Lambeck ran well at the Bakersfield March Meet, where he reached the final. He qualified #4 in the eight-car field with a 9.66. An opening round 9.50/146.10 defeated Mike Johnson, and he got a lucky break in the semifinal when Butch Leal's Duster broke a U-joint. He faced Huff in the final, and Larry's 9.47 scored the victory over his 9.60 runner-up effort. The following weekend, he was at Fremont for the AHRA Northern Nationals. This was a sixteen-car show, and he ran well, lasting until the second round before losing to the race's eventual winner Dick Landy. On March 24, he was back at OCIR for the final All-Pro race. This was another sixteen-car show, and his 9.25 qualified #1. In the first round, he ran a career-best 9.23 at 145.86. But then, after clearing the traps, his engine blew, and oil got under the tires. He ended up crashing and totaling the car. He received a broken left leg and lacerations.
