Notes: Jack and Bill Schultz reunited and won the sixteen-car Gasser show at Irwindale on September 26. He qualified #2 with a 7.46. In the first round, he beat the "Gas Company" with another 7.46/179.28. He got a "bye" run in round two due to having Low ET of the first-round. In the semifinals, Hal Brannin (Brannin Bros.) fouled and Jones advanced to the final with a 10.54. In the final he faced off against Sam Davis in the "Freight Train" and Sam fouled giving Jack an easy victory. |

Notes: Bob qualified #25 at Indy 1972 with a 6.654/207.85. He lost to Tom McEwen in round one, 6.372/220.58 to 6.742/186.72. That was his only NHRA national event of the year. In October, he was the other car in the match race at Keystone Raceway when Tommy Ivo ran the 5.97.
