Notes: First dual fuel pump car. Went 23 races without changing it. Dave moved to Washington in September 1980. In April, Benjamin was at Pueblo Motorsports Park for the NHRA Division 5 Opener. Only four cars showed. He beat Dan Lexa in the first round, with a 6.96/205.30 to move into the final against Rob Williams. Unfortunately, he lost a blower and even though Williams broke on the run, Rob coasted across the finish line first. |

Notes: Arnie was at Orlando on January 4 for the Drag News Championships. A first-round 8.49/175.78 advanced past Huston Platt, who broke a transmission in Tommy Smith's Dart. Phil Castronovo blew an engine in the second round, and Beswick shut off to an 11.02/114.20 to advance. In the semifinals, he fouled against Larry Arnold. He went to York US 30 for an eight-car show in April, where his 8.24/173.41 lost to Bruce Larson's 7.71/187 in the opening round. He came back later for a grudge race against the "Super Twister," and Arnie won with an 8.06/176.81. He was at New York National Speedway in May for the Springnationals. Beswick lost early, and his best pass was 7.99/180.26. On June 21, he was at St. Louis for the AHRA 1/8 mile Championships. He reached the final against Bobby Rowe driving the "Super Duster," but Arnie broke a rear end and had to settle for the runner-up money. Beswick was at Lions on October 24. 25 FCs were attempting to qualify for the eight-car field. Arnie qualified, but in the first round of competition, his 7.38/198.67 lost to Randy Walls' 7.30/204. Did Arnie really run a 6.91/213 in this car? We need confirmation. | Photo from 1970 Springnationals at New York National Speedway, Long Island. - RT |

Notes: This car started as Tommy Smallwood's 'Kingfish' in 1968, was run later in '68-early '69 by Don Schumacher. Schumacher ran this car as a second team car for much of 1969, driven by Ron O'Donnell. Later in 69 bought here by Bud Richter. Eventually, '68 Cuda body gave way to a '70 Cuda body. The car was then sold to Frank McDonald, who ran it in the early-mid 70s. Bolger won over an eight-car show at US 131 on August 30. A first-round 7.41/198.66 beat Larry Christopherson's Nova. In the semifinals, Roger Lindamood lost a transmission, and Gary eased it through to an 8.25/148.27. In the final, he beat Bryan Teal in Nelson Carter's car with a 7.81/195.64. At the time it was claimed that Jerry Cunningham was the car owner. |

Notes: We need to confirm aspiration, fuel, and class. Edit these fields if necessary when we get confirmation. Ed ran at Bristol on June 11 for the NHRA Springnationals. His 10.43/137.40 in the opening round of eliminations lost to Bill Lawton's 8.33/176. Ed qualified #12 at 10.99/130.05. That was his only NHRA national event of the year. |

Notes: Bob won round one at Connecticut on April 4 with a 7.25/203.16 over Sarge Arciero in the Frantic Ford. Unfortunately, he lost a motor on that run. He was at Maple Grove in May for an eight-car show. In the opening round of eliminations, his 7.43/197.36 beat Pee Wee Wallace's quicker 7.39/195. Phil Castronovo's car broke against him in the semifinal, and Bob ran 7.30/201.34 (Top Speed) to advance. He faced the strong running, Chevy-powered Camaro of Charlie Therwhanger in the final. Bob had problems and slowed to 7.54/165.74 in a runner-up finish to Charlie's 7.09/191. Bob was at Maple Grove on June 26 for the NHRA Division 1 race. In the first round, he beat Wayne Oxner with a 7.52/191.08 but lost Phil Castronovo in the semifinals. In July, he was at Budds Creek for the Funny Car Nationals. Terry Hedrick got out of shape against him in the first round, and Bob advanced with an 8.20, but in round two, he had handling troubles and lost to Lew Arrington. He also ran 7.12 at Suffolk this year. | Cain ran 206.16 at Suffolk 7/17/71 (Drag News). He ran 6.98 at West Salem 8/28/71 (Drag News). - Dennis Doubleday |

Notes: Won Eastern Funny Car Showdown event at Fremont in October at 6.68/212.76 over Liberman (6.88/208.80). Lew Arrington ran 6.75 at the event. Info from local newspaper (The Argus). Report said Callier was in a Camaro, however. We need to confirm. We had a 6.71 listed for the Vega in 1971. |

Notes: Dick Harrell finally switched to a Hemi in '71. He had stayed true to the Chevy cause in '70, but it was a losing battle. So, his new Vega used a 426 Hemi. He bought all the parts from the "Ramchargers" but continued to build his own engines. Larry Christopherson was tagged to drive the new 120" wheelbase Don Hardy built car. It used a Lenco two-speed and a Dana rear with 5.12 gears. |
