Notes: Photo from Pomona 1982, the last national event for the car. The team qualified #15 at 6.150/238.72, but lost in round one, to Tripp Shumake, 6.14/243 to 6.514/204.54. Car used to be the Flo-Rite deal, but we lost that sponsor cause Bonin and Smith who ran Flo-Rite were buddies and when Bonin was fired, guess what? Ron Hodgson bought the Yukon brewery in Prince George, BC. One week before Pomona we didn't have a sponsor, so Ron gave us $5000 to go. Gary Egbert got it lettered by the day before we left. When Frank and I got to the track, I was still cleaning off the pencil lines from the lettering. - Leon Lippoldt |

Notes: Kase & Harris leased this car from the Young Brothers. The team started the season at Ontario Motor Speedway for the New Year's Day race. It was an eight-car show, and in the first round, Harris made an easy pass to advance as Leon Cain failed to fire. In the semifinals, Steve crossed the centerline while running 6.72 in a loss to Bryan Raines' 7.25. At the Irwindale Grand Premier race, a 6.76 qualified #11. Once again, he had an easy first-round race as this time Dennis Geisler failed to fire. Harris advanced with a 7.63. In round two, his 6.47/222 beat Gary Burgin's 6.67/207. He improved to 6.38/227 in the semifinals to beat Tom McEwen's quicker 6.35/228. Unfortunately, he fouled against Bob Pickett in the final. He needed to take the shot as he ran 6.88/209.56 for the runner-up spot while Pickett got the victory with a 6.56 at a shut-off 159. Traction was marginal at best at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals. Harris qualified #14, but lost to the eventual winner Mike Van Sant, in the opening round. Steve qualified #6 at Beeline for NHRA's Phoenix Winter Classic with a 6.50/205.94. An opening round 6.60/215.82 beat Chris Lane's 6.74/217. In round two, he faced Don Prudhomme, but the "Blackhawk" broke on the burnout. |

Notes: Hawley drove at the NHRA Gators, then Wayne Minick took over. That was the team's only NHRA national event in 1985. Photo from Gainesville 1985, with Hawley driving. Frank's 5.78 qualified #9, and he faced low qualifier Kenny Bernstein in round one. It wasn't much of a race as the "Chi-Town Hustler" blew a transmission and slowed to 12.73/59.91 while Bernstein advanced with a 6.25/226. |

Notes: Hodkinson began the year at a booked-in race at NHRA D4 Green Valley, TX. Hodkinson crossed the center line on the burnout and during the run. Steve was in Atlanta for an eight-car show in March. He failed to qualify but got into the field when Jim Head lost a supercharger and could not run. Unfortunately, he smoked the tires in the first round and lost to Tom Hoover. He qualified #4 at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, but in the first round, he lost fire, giving opponent Norm Day a solo into the semifinals. In April, at the NHRA Southern Nationals, Steve qualified #13 with a 5.96/239.48 but lost to Tim Grose in the first round. He went to Rockingham shortly after that for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships. It was an eight-car field, and his 5.91/247.25 qualified on the "bump." He scored a major upset in the first round, where his 5.88/246.57 beat low qualifier Mark Oswald's 6.05/205. On June 7, he was in Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. It was a weak field, as an 11.84-time slip made the show. Hodkinson ran 6.27/227.33 for the #13 spot in the show. He got out of shape in the first round and crossed the centerline, advancing Oswald in the "Candies and Hughes" car. His next stop was at Kansa City for the ADRA Summernationals. While he failed to reach the finals, he did qualify with a career-best (to this point) 5.83/251.39. Shortly after that, he made a stop at Alamo Raceway, where the NHRA Division Four race also featured eight-car fields in the Pro classes. His 7.05 qualified #4, and in the first round, he crossed the center line and was disqualified while racing Don Sosenka. At the IHRA World Nationals, his 6.10/226.13 qualified last for the eight-car field. He gave Oswald a race in the first round, where both drivers ran 5.87 (Steve at 238.73), but Mark crossed the finish line first. In September, he was at Maple Grove for the NHRA Keystone Nationals, where he qualified #11 with a 5.87/247.32. A slight holeshot and a 5.88/245.56 beat John Force's 5.85/249, but in the second round, his 5.96/240.77 lost to Brad Tuttle's 5.86/241. He ran an amazing 5.730/256.84 at the World Finals to finish the season with his best NHRA national event times. |

He qualified #7 at the NHRA Arizona Nationals with a 5.22/264.23. An even better 5.16/294.40 in the opening round fell to Whit Bazemore's 5.05/308. Tom was the sixteenth and final member of the Castrol Four Second Club on October 23, 1998, with a 4.938 in Ennis. Then bettered that with a 4.936 at the same race. | Ran 5.89 at AHRA Spokane in August. Won round two over Wyatt Radke, but we don't have other details yet. |
