Notes: Karp was in New England in May for its Potpourri Nationals. His 7.38/193.97 qualified #4 in the eight-car field, but he hurt some parts and could not run in competition. He failed to qualify at Maple Grove for the Dutch Classic but got into the show as an alternate. Unfortunately, he lost to Dale Hall in the opening round. He competed at the 1st annual Night of Thrills race at Englishtown. There were twelve cars there, and all were to make two runs, with the two Low ET cars running in the final. Arnie set Top Speed in the first round, where his 7.32/199.11 defeated Bruce Pillar's 7.27/191. But once again, he had engine trouble and could not return for round two. Arnie qualified #30 at Indy with a 6.96 (need detailed times). He upset a broken Chuck Rearick in round one at 7.00/197.80. He ran a consistent 7.02/198.23 in round two but lost to Bill Wallace's 6.81/203. Confirmed 199.11 at Englishtown, but a for sale add at the end of the year cited 6.96/200. Photo from 1977. |

Notes: Injected fuel AWB. Tommy debuted the car at Biloxi on April 30, 1966. He ran this car into 1967 before debuting his first flip-top Mustang. - DD | At the car's debut at Biloxi, it was still running a 427 wedge. For the first time out, he didn't do too bad; Grove defeated Tom Sturm's Chevelle in a best of three match. He also reset the track record to 9.50 at 144.92. (See separate entry for the SOHC-powered version that Tommy ran until he debuted the flip-top car). |

Notes: Larry Mingee and Jim Harnsberger teamed up on this Chevy-powered TF dragster. The Stuckey chassis had a 136" wheelbase. The 327 Chevy used a Delta 5/8 stroker crankshaft to achieve 364 cubic inches.ForgedTrue pistons along with M/T rods and a Chet Herbert cam were used. Corvette FI heads were used, and a Weiand blower manifold supported the Hilborn fed GMC 6/71 blower. The rear was '49 Olds with 3.64 gears. |

Notes: Joe was at Englishtown near the end of March for the Manufacturer's Pro Stock Showdown. His 7.60/178.24 qualified #5 in the eight-car field. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Nick Nikolis. Clark pulled off an upset as his 7.62/180.00 beat Nick's quicker 7.56/185. In the semi-final, he fouled against Kenny Delco. |
