Notes: Ran 8.114 at Irwindale, CA, 7/4/70. Ed was at Irwindale's Labour Day Championships in Sept. A field of eight fuel altereds ran. A first-round 7.94/133.53 beat the "Tranquility," and in the semifinals, his 7.58/196.50 beat Roger Garten's identical 7.58/196. But the run came at a cost for Moore, and he could not return for the final. |

Notes: Nelson was at San Fernando on February 5th, where he set a 133.33 C/F track record. The speed was tops for the day. Jim "Jazzy" Nelson is credited with being the first prominent racer to utilize the Fiat Topolino ("little mouse") body in drag racing. His flathead-powered, '34 Ford-framed competition coupe presaged the many hundreds of Fiat-bodied altereds that were to follow. Four Stromberg 97s bolted to an Edelbrock manifold atop a '49 Ford block. He shifted a '37 Cad-LaSalle trans. Nelson was a frequent Top Eliminator winner (against dragsters) in the mid-Fifties. - RT | On 12/18/1955, he set a world ET record at San Fernando, California - 9.10 seconds at 132.59 mph - per nitrofuelers.com. | Confirmed as the quickest car of 1955 as it was devoted to nitro. - Hot Rod Magazine | The 11/11/55 issue of Drag News reported a best-to-that-date of 9.68/135.84). from (Drag News 11/11/55) |

Notes: Butch qualified #2 at OCIR on March 15 for an eight-car show with an 8.11/194.80. He slowed to 9.18/176.12 in the opening round, but that was more than enough to beat the "Beaverhunter" who had gotten into the show as an alternate. In the semifinal, he fouled away an 8.71/182 against Chuck Horchar, who advanced with an 8.85/147. |

Notes: Gary was at Irwindale on June 15 for a four-car match. In his first race, he ran 7.71/195.22 to beat Mike Sullivan's unblown car at 8.57/171. Gary also won his second race with a 7.67/187.10 over Bart Dimatteo's 8.52/160. He got crossed up and shut off in his last race losing to Tom Ferraro. He grabbed a big win over the sixteen-car field at OCIR for its Nitro Championships. An opening round 8.09/190.26 defeated Sush Matsubara's 8.59/189, and in round two, his 8.31/194.80 advanced. Ted Tardie's 9.29/136 in the "Rat Trap" fell to his 8.10/196.06 in the semifinal. He faced Harry Burkholder in the final, and Gary's 8.03/197.80 got the victory over Harry's 8.36/186. On August 17, Irwindale held an Funny Car vs. Fuel Altered race. There were four of each, and in the first round, Gary ran the best time of the meet for either class with a 7.69/204.08 that beat Jack Chrisman's 8.13/179. He got out of shape in his second race and shut off against Dave Beebe. |

Notes: Jim was at OCIR on December 4 for its Super Altered Invitational. All fourteen cars ran in the first round, with the four quickest advancing to the semi-final. West's 7.29/177.51 over an engine blowing Ed Moore was quick enough to make the final four. Unfortunately, he lost to Art McLaren, driving the "Pure Heaven" car in the semi-final. |

West qualified 10th at Tucson Dragway AA/FA Nationals with a 7.69. | Plan A name came from Johnny and Jim West saying they would race a fuel altered, funny car, and top fuel car - Plan A, B, and C. - Johnny West, Draglist LIVE, 2/3/20 |

Notes: Adolph was at OCIR near the end of March for its final All-Pro race. It was a sixteen-car field, and he failed to qualify. He got in as an alternate, and his 8.03/177.16 beat Vic Morse in round one. In the second round, the car lost reverse after he did his burnout. Eventual winner Dave Beebe soloed for the win. Jim was back at OCIR for an eight-car show on April 18. He failed to qualify but got into the show when another car broke. The Firebird came to the line ailing in the first round, and could only run 15.25 in a loss to Beebe's 7.50. He was back at OCIR on May 2 for the Big Four Championships. In the first round, he broke and advanced Mike Van Sant. |
