Notes: Leon was at Tulsa late in May for a four-car show. He fouled away a 7.95 in the first race against Leroy Chadderton. In the second race, he made an easy pass for the win when the "Rat Trap" had a small fire on the line and had to shut off. In his final race, he ran 8.03/189 to win over Willie Borsch who blew an engine. 7.957 Irwindale CA 7/4/70

Notes: Car debuted as an injected nitro burner in 1969, then a blown version in 1970. A mid pack runner earning mid sevens. It was later powered by a 392 in 1971 before the crew ventured off with the War Horse Funny Car.

Notes: Dennise qualified first at the 1976 Tucson AA/FA Nationals with a 6.89. In the first week of June, Geisler was at Fremont for an eight-car show. In the first round, his 7.06/187.11 beat Lee LeBaron and a 7.83/156.52 in the semi-final took out Bill Frontuto, who shut down. He lost to Dave Hough in the final. He was at OCIR on December 4 for its Super Altered Invitational race. All fourteen cars ran in the first round, with the four quickest advancing into the semi-finals. Geisler set Low ET in the first round, where his 6.85/195.65 beat the Trillo brothers' car. In the semi-final, his 7.33/162.00 beat Gary Southern's 7.61/160. He faced Art McLaren, driving the "Pure Heaven" in the final. At the light, it looked like it was over for Geisler as he was getting out of shape and lifting, but then Art had his engine blow, and Dennis drove around him to record a 10.12 for the win. Notes: Gary was runner-up in class at the Pomona NHRA Winternationals in February. He won Irwindale in March at 7.52/201.34. Gary was at OCIR for an eight-car show on May 22. His 7.46/192.30 beat Tom Ferraro in round one. In the semi-finals, he smoked the tires and lost to eventual winner Mikio Oshioka's 7.10. Gary's great Irwindale 6.71/216 run was disputed, but the times came up on the clocks.

Notes: Herbert was subbing for Harry Burkholder, who had a broken foot. Late in September, he was driving the car at Sacramento. He raced in the Combo Eliminator, which put the fuel altered up against a lot of Junior Fuelers and Top Gas Dragsters. He qualified #1 for the sixteen-car field with a 7.56/204. He eased through round one when Mike Fuller fouled. In round two, he really laid down a number. His 7.37/204.60 (Low ET and Top Speed for the class) beat Henry Walther.Rich Galli fouled against him in the semifinal, and he faced Rance McDaniel in the final. But the car broke, and McDaniel picked up the win. Jim was at Irwindale early in October for its Grand Prix race. It featured a sixteen-car fuel altered race. In the opening round, his 7.64/194.80 beat Roger Garten. In round two, he improved to 7.51/200.44 while defeating Frank Pitts. He had problems in the semifinal and shut off early against eventual winner Mike Sullivan who won with a 7.49.

Notes: Higley qualified 12th at Tucson Dragway AA/FA Nationals with a 7.75. He was at OCIR on December 4 for its Super Altered Invitational race. All fourteen cars ran in the first round, with the four quickest advancing to the semi-final. His 7.80/175 beat Henry Harrison's engine-blowing car, but his ET did not advance into the final four.

Notes: Chuck was at Lions on May 17 for an eight-car show. He qualified #2 with a 7.90, and in round one, his 8.52/178.21 advanced over Errol Long. In the semifinals, his 8.09/183.29 beat Sush Matsubara. This put him into the final against Willie Borsch. Willie had run two 7.75's to make the final. But in the final, Borsch's roadster went everywhere but straight. It was classic Willie at his best with a never say die 9.09 that finished runner-up to Chuck's 8.41/176.52.

Notes: Dave was at Irwindale on March 14 for an eight-car show. He qualified #1 with a 7.55 at a ridiculous shut off speed of just 65 mph. In the opening round, he ran a track record 7.30 at 204.08 to beat Lee LeBaron who lost a blower belt. In the semifinals, opponent Bob Hankins went up in smoke and Dave ran 7.36/189.86 to advance into the final. There, he would face Willie Borsch. Willie's best run that day was only a 7.71 so it looked like it was an easy win for Hough. But it was never easy when you faced Borsch. Dave spun the tires in the final and his 7.84 and an amazing 210.28 finished second best to the "Winged express" 7.71/201. On July 25, Dave was at Irwindale for a best of three match race against Dave Beebe in the "Dodge Fever" Challenger FC. Beebe won the first race with his 7.55/190 beating "Nanook's" 7.59/196.92, but the fuel altered came back to win the next two and the match with times of 7.34/207.36 and 7.35/206.88. He won the Labor Day Championships at Irwindale over an eight-car field. A 7.67/141.06 beat the "Scrounger" in the first round, while in round two, he advanced with a 7.88/139.53 when Gary Essman shut off after having a small fire on the line. In the final, he set Low ET and Top Speed while winning over Roger Garten with a 7.38/203.60.

Notes: Lee was at Irwindale on August 3 for the Gold Cup Championships. The race featured a sixteen-car Fuel Altered field. In the opening round, Lee's 8.23/181.08 beat Harry Burkholder's quicker 8.20/184. Sush Matsubara fouled against him in round two, and he advanced with an 8.39/183.28. Notes: On February 1, Lions held an eight-car show. Lee set Top Speed at 189.07 in qualifying. He won his first-round race with an 8.64/187.50 over Larry Maldonado, but he lost to Bill Thurmond in the semifinals. He was at OCIR for an eight-car show on February 16, where he qualified #7 with an 8.38/189.86, but an 8.36/191.88 in the first round lost to Glenn Way's 8.04/191. He was back at Lions on May 17 there his 8.19 qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car field. In the opening round, his 8.22/190.67 fell to Sush Matsubara's 7.88/189. Lee was at Lions for an eight-car show on December 6, but he lost to Tom Ferraro in the first round, with an off-pace 10.06/165.13. The next day he went to Irwindale for a sixteen-car show. He really stepped up, running a 7.64 to qualify second in the field. Unfortunately, the run came at a price as he had hurt some parts and could not run in eliminations.

Notes: One-of-a-kind steel Willys with glass components ran as an AA/FA with blown 400 CID (0.30-over 392) fuel motor set back 25 percent, direct drive and a solid rear end. Fascinating feature in 4/67 Drag Racing magazine details a year of continuing problems sorting out the extremely ill-handling car, miraculously never crashing. Originally finished in '66, but did not complete a full run until '67. Handling issues solved when Chuck Finders talked them into replacing the direct drive with a Torqueflite, and to spring the rear. | John was at Irwindale on July 23 for an eight-car show. The Willys ran well hitting 8.63/170.13 in the first round, to beat Butch Pipins and 9.00/168.85 in the semifinals over Henry Harrison. He faced Bob Walker in the "Super Rat" in the final and his 8.63/170.77 finished second best to Walker's 8.58/172.
