Notes: This exhibition car retained the name from the previous year's configuration, which boasted a trio of 376" (stroked 327) Chevys, two in the back seat. For 1967 Stringfield axed the extra mills and converted the car into a wheelstander. It was unconventional-looking, even by Sixties wheelstanding or altered wheelbase standards. Stringfield patched over the rear wheelwell openings and moved the rear axle WAY forward, with the tires well past the trailing edge of the coupe's original door. The bumperless Chevy II was so counterbalanced that it took little to get into the air, though the extreme rear overhang surely limited wheelstand height. Pictured in the 9/67 issue of SS&DI, on its report on the third annual Super Stock Nationals. - RT |
