Notes: Jim started the year by just making the field at Pomona for the Winternationals with his 5.36/261.32 qualifying #16. He had problems in the first round and lost to Gary Beck. At the second NHRA event of the season, the Supernationals, he qualified #13. He ran a first-round 5.15 in beating Eddie Hill, but he lost to Joe Amato in round two. At the Gatornationals, he qualified #11 and again made it into round two before he broke on the burnout before facing Earl Whiting. Jim was at Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational. Rain canceled out qualifying, and the eleven cars that showed for the eight-car field were given one crack at making the show. Jim's 5.35/274.44 got him the pole. In the first round, he improved to 5.24/271.14, but his opponent, Gene Snow, also improved, and his 5.16/265 won. Atlanta and Memphis were the next two stops on the NHRA tour for the Southern Nationals, and the Mid-South Nationals and Head failed to qualify for both. He ran well at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, where his 5.27/264.12 qualified #2 in the eight-car field. He had a close first-round race against Connie Kalitta that had both drivers run 5.33 (Head at 261.90), but Jim got the win light. Both he and Jack Ostrander smoked the tires in the semifinals, but Jim again came out on top with a 6.72/103.88, advancing him. In the final, he faced Pat Dakin, and it was another tire-smoking battle. But Jim prevailed for the victory with a 6.90/143.69 over Dakin's closing 6.98/170. At Columbus, for the NHRA Springnationals, his 5.16/271.16 qualified #12. In the opening round, his 5.23/271.49 defeated Frank Cook. Both he and Dick Lahaie smoked the hides in round two, where Head's 5.51/264.39 finished first. He got off the line late in the semifinal, where his 5.29/254.95 lost to Hank Endres' 5.31/269. He made the trip to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationls and qualified #11 with a 5.33/263.38. His 5.32/267.85 in the first round lost to Joe Amato's 5.22/275. He also lost in the first round to Eddie Hil at Englishtown after qualifying #14 with a 5.23/273.88 for the NHRA Summernationals. | At the IHRA Loctite Nationwise World Nationals, Head qualified #5 with a 5.365/260.67 & Drew #4 Qualifier Pat Dakin in Round 1. During the run the Timers failed but via the ESPN Cameras showed Dakin got the win. |

Notes: Holcomb did not race at the first two NHRA events of the year, but he was at Houston for the Supernationals. He ran a best of 5.164/255.68, but the "bump" was 5.13, and he was the fourth alternate. The following week (March 11), he was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. His 5.25/264.40 qualified #1 for the eight-car field, and he went on to win by running 5.35/263.25 in the opening round of eliminations over Mike Smith. A 5.29/266.30 defeated Fred Farndon in the semifinal. He faced Wayne Bailey in the final, and a strong 5.29/265.28 gave him the win. Shortly after that, he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where his 5.252/262.77 qualified on the "bump." In the opening round, his shut-off 12.66/77.12 lost to the eventual winner Darrell Gwynn's 4.98/280. He attempted to qualify for the eight-car show at Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational, but he was the second alternate with a 5.27/261.17 best. Holcomb was at Bristol was the IHRA Springnationals at the end of May. Only eight cars showed, so qualifying wasn't much of an issue. Still, he belted out a 5.47/261.05 to qualify #5. Unfortunately, he fouled against John Carey in the first round. Richard was the third alternate at NHRA Atlanta at 5.253/266.27. | At the IHRA Eastern Nationals at Atco, Richard qualified #7 with a 5.577/240.08. In Round 1 he drew #2 Qualifier Jack Ostrander where Holcomb scored the upset with a 5.234/262.99 to Ostrander's losing 5.449/235.32. In the semis he faced #3 Qualifier Ken Koretsky where Holcomb won on a holeshot when his .081 RT coupled with a 5.346/256.15 put away Koretsky's 5.304/276.43. Holcomb's final round opponent would be #4 Qualifier Michael Brotherton, unfortunately Holcomb would have to settle for runner up honors as his 5.416/266.80 was no match for Brotherton's 5.257/266.20. | Indy was his final NHRA national event of the year. He was the first alternate at 5.229/266.11. |

Notes: Stuart qualified #14 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.894/254.52. A first-round 5.707/254.66 lost to Connie Kalitta's 5.53/256. That was the team's only NHRA national event this year. | Stuart was the Runner up at the Fuel & Gas Championships in Bakersfield. | We need to confirm what year the team ran the 5.635. If it was 1985, we need updated times for 1986. |
