Notes: Darrell was at Tulsa for its annual Spring race. He qualified #3 in the eight-car field with a 5.95/241.28. Another 5.95 at 243.24 beat Henry Phillips in the opening round, and in the semifinals, he ran a career-best (to this point) 5.93/245.23 (Top Speed) to beat Doc Halladay's 6.14/238. Unfortunately, the Corvette broke on the run, and he could not face Johnny West driving the "Hawaiian" in the final. He was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals but lost to Halladay in the first round. Darrell improved on his best at Atco for the IHRA Summernationals, where he qualified with a 5.89. He had a bit of bad luck when the car broke on the line in the first round, against eventual winner Mark Oswald driving the "Candies & Hughes" T-Bird. Early in July, he was at Milan, Michigan, for the IHRA Northern Nationals. An opening round 6.43/245.90 advanced over Ed McCulloch's wheelstanding Olds. But in the semifinal, he lost to Oswald. Shortly after that, Darrell qualified #1 for the eight-car field at Kansas City for their Summernationals race with a 5.93/244.75. He failed to reach the finals there as he lost to Jack Wyatt in the semifinals. He was the #15 qualifier at Brainerd for the NHRA Northstar Nationals with a 5.850/250.00. Unfortunately, he lost to John Martin in the opening round. Photo from Milan, MI, 1988. Went 5.72 at Milan (need to confirm). Was that a 5.72 or 5.77? (We formerly listed a 5.77). The most unique of all the Bruce Iversen bodies ever run. Had a much more Corvette-like front end grafted on. Big improvement! - Tim S

Notes: Bazemore & Evans got Funny Car in place of back pay. Photo from 1989 Norwalk. We need to confirm when the team took over full control from Ted Combis. The Combis name was on the car through Gainesville. The only qualified 1989 times after that, were from the Cajun Nats. Was the car owned by B&E or Ted Combis at that point? | At the IHRA Loctite/Nationwise World Nationals, Bazemore qualified #6 in the 8 car funny car field with a 5.647/254.24 & Drew #3 qualifier Art Hendey in round 1. Bazemore would win with a 5.756/252.81 to Hendey's losing 5.845/247.93. That would pit Bazemore against #2 Qualifier RC Sherman in the semis where Bazemore had problems & The Eventual winner Sherman took the W.

Notes: Photo from Indy 1987. Beadle qualified #4 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.58/259.51. In the first round, he smoked the tires and shut off to 12.44 while his opponent, Graeme Cowin advanced with a 5.74/261. | March 6/8, Raymond would compete at the Coca Cola Funny Car Classic at Ennis where he would qualify #1 with a 5.514/254.0. In round 1 on a Single he ran 5.510/263.92. In the Semis Beadle got another single as Henry Phillips had to put a replacement body on the chassis after disintegrating the original body, however Henry's team felt the body was "inadequate to deal with potential 5.60/240 runs." & thus, didn't run against Beadle & Beadle ran 5.86/256.84 in the solo. He would race Steve Hodkinson in the final where Beadle would win with a 5.63/256.19. | On March 15 he was at Atlanta or a six-car show. He qualified #5 with a 6.22/240.00 and another 6.22 in the first round, loss to Jim Head's 5.94. At the NHRA Gatornationals, a 5.64/256.62 qualified #4. Unfortunately, he lost when he smoked the tires against Head in the first round. Beadle lent the "Blue Max" to Tom McEwen to drive at the Texas Motorplex for the NHRA Winston All-Star race. McEwen did pretty well with it finishing runner-up to Kenny Bernstein. Back at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals, it was a light field, and Raymond's 6.17/242.71 qualified #14 for the show. He lost to Texas neighbor, Billy Meyer's 5.71/254 in the first round, with a 6.21/215.31. Beadle qualified #15 at the NHRA Cajun Nationals with an 8.95/170.13 as only sixteen-cars showed. He ran 8.74/97.79 to advance past the first-round when Mike Dunn failed to show. In the second round, Beadle smoked the tires to a 6.10/250, but it was still enough to get past Henry Phillips. He smoked the tires again in the semifinals, but this time he lost to eventual winner Kenny Bernstein's 5.57/261. At Columbus, for the NHRA Springnationals, Beadle ran 5.91/241.15 to qualify #11, but he lost to Ed McCulloch in the first round. The "Blue Max" team did not make the trip to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals, but they were there at Englishtown for the Summernationals. Raymond qualified #13 with a 5.81/248.61. Another 5.81 at 248.68 in round one, lost to John Force's quick-leaving 5.85/252.

Notes: Was also sponsored by High Performance World | If memory serves me correctly, this was Joe Pisano's '83 Camaro, formerly driven by Tripp Shumake, purchased by Cowin, then lengthened (with Pontiac nose & tail) while in the US in 1985. Listed times from The Drag Racing List December 86/January 87, Volume 1, Number 9. Made a splash on the second half of the NHRA national event trail in 1985: Indy - #11 qualifier at 5.770/257.43. Lost a close one on a holeshot to John Force in round one, 5.835/253 to 5.813/253.80 (MOV - .015 seconds, about 5.5 feet). Maple Grove - #10 qualifier at 5.781/255.24. Shut off to a 14-second run against Dale Pulde in round one. Seattle - #10 qualifier at 5.924/247.25. Shut off to a 15-second run against Force in round one. Pomona World Finals - #7 qualifier at 5.776/257.87. Put a big holeshot on Al Segrini in round one, but Al came around him for the win, 5.760/248.48 to 5.829/243.50 (MOV .042 - about 16 feet). We need to confirm where 5.67/266 numbers came from. I remember them, but it was not on the 1985 NHRA national event trail. The 266.27 was reported in an Aussie drag mag in December 1985. Probably an IHRA national event.

He set Low ET and Top Speed at 6.10/227.76, and in the final, his 6.14/226.61 took the victory when Wally Giavia lost a blower. Notes: Chuck had a bad day at Englishtown on September 22. He was there for the U.S. All-Pro Funny Car Championships. He faced Al Hofmann in the opening round, and he blew his engine, and the car caught fire. Etchells got the car stopped, and he got out ok. Where did Chuck run 6.14/241? He did not race at any NHRA national events this year. | rnrnUpdate, Chuck ran those numbers recorded at the Englishtown Crazy Eddie's Night Of Thrills 6/12/85 in his first run against Eventual Event Winner John Force

Notes: Mike ran no NHRA national events in 1991. | He ran at the 1991 Driver's Seat Fall Funny Car Nationals at New England Dragway on 9/08/91. He had problems during the day & struggled to a 7.04 172.05. If anyone knows any quicker and/or faster times Mike had in 1991, it would definitely help. Thank you. - Rob McCabe
