Notes: Gary was at Fontana for a sixteen-car show on April 17. He beat Dave Babler's 8.15/192 in the first round, with a 7.91/199.54. He lost to Chuck Griffith in round two. The following day, he was at San Fernando for an eight-car show. Southern qualified #6 with an 8.08 and he improved to 7.93/203.70 in the first round, over an engine blowing Bill Alexander. In the semifinals, he slept on the line and his 7.85/204.08 lost to Gary Casady's 8.18/190 in Bill Martin's "400 Jr." |
