Notes: I built my chassis at Haulin Chassis Winter of 64/65. None of the uprights were welded to the bottom frame rails from the firewall forward to the torsion tube. Mid 1965, I started to build my own slider clutches. This caused me to get behind the wheel for the 1966 season. I only ran a 354 CI Hemi that was .030" over along with a lower gear. Our MPH was usually between 202 MPH and 210 MPH because of the gearing, but ETs were as low as 7.50. |

Notes: At NHRA Bristol, Jimmy Nix entered two cars, the Carroll Brothers & Oxman car and his own blown Chevy dragster! He was low qualifier at 7.65/192.70 in the Carroll Bros. machine and went 7.80/202.84 in the Chevy. He beat Danny Ongais in Round one with the Carroll Bros. machine at 7.56/195.22, but crossed the centerline and lost with the Chevy (avoiding what could have been a very interesting eventual matchup)! He beat Marvin Schwartz in round two, but lost a close one to Tom Hoover in the semis. |

Notes: New car in April 1965. Ran 7.80 at Bristol Springnationals, 7.75 at Indy. The 208 at Richmond was considered the fastest in the sport for 1965. | At NHRA Bristol, Jimmy Nix entered two cars, the Carroll Brothers & Oxman car and his own dragster! Qualified # 8 and finished runner up to Don Prudhomme at Indy with best times of 7.75/205.94, but we need to verify which car that was. Assuming it was his own car. The new car in April reportedly had Jimmy switching to a hemi, but the NHRA reports from the Bristol event refer to his car as Chevy. We need to confirm. |
