Notes: Ed ran a new three-stage nitrous system at the Nebraska Motorplex in mid-August for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. He qualified #3 with a 6.76/206.46; in round one, he beat John Ieppert with a 6.82/206.89. Throughout qualifying and in the first round of eliminations, he had not used the third stage of his nitrous unit, but in the second round, he used it and ran 6.78/216.24 to beat Brian Gahm's 6.88/194. So going into the semifinals, all eyes were on Ed's Camaro to see what kind of speed he ran. Unfortunately, he broke on the line giving eventual winner Carl Moyer a single into the final. He then went to Norwalk on August 29 for the IHRA World Nationals. A 6.80/204.40 qualified #9, and he lost to Gary Grahner in the first round, when he had problems and shut down to 9.48/84.30.
