Notes: Mulligan got AA/FC upgrade in this car at Lions in October 1968. Schwartz drove this car at the '69 NHRA Springnationals in Dallas and died when Pat Foster in Mickey Thompson's Mustang T-boned the Cougar. In 1968, it was reported that when Maynard Rupp left the Cougar Country car, Roy Steffey was joining with Schwartz and Pepper Meihart on the Cougar. Steffey was a big dollar guy and would have made a big impact. |

Notes: Huston ran at NHRA Dallas World Finals, but the note we have is that he was subbing for Division 2 champ Tommy Smith, whose car had burned. Huston qualified #10 at 7.66 and ran 7.62 in round one, to take out a centerline crossing John Dekker. Gene Snow defeated Huston in round two, 7.21/205 to 7.61/180.00. We will place those times here based on the NHRA note about Smith's burned Dart. Please confirm if you know this story. This was the car involved in the infamous Yellow River accident. |

Notes: TB is "Tom" Smallwood. Logghe Chassis, B&N Fiberglass 'Cuda, Al Bergler aluminum, Cerny paint with Kelly lettering. Virtual twin to the Super Cuda (Kingfish Blue, Super Cuda Red) as Bill Taylor, Pat Collins, etc fielded funny cars out of Memphis. Bill - let me check, but I think Larry Reyes and Larry Arnold drove this car. |

Notes: In 1971 Rupp and Dakin switched from gasoline to nitro. They had Logghe lengthen their Woody Top Gas car, Bergler built a nose piece, and they began running Top Fuel, winning TFE at the '71 NHRA Grandnationals in Montreal. They ran this car through 1972. Built a new Woody RED for '73. 6.65 at Columbus |
