Notes: Gary Allen Peterson was driver's real name. He died in a crash in this car. Car sometimes confused with the Tahitian, but that was Buzz Vogelsong's car from Ohio. |

Notes: Beautiful car. Paul Sorrell body. Owner and part driver, Greenamyer was an SR71 test pilot and air plane racer, whose P-51 was sponsored by Smirnoff. Zeuschel built the engines. His encounter may have lead to his ultimate abandonment of V8 motors and interest in Allisons. In any event, Dixon first drove, then Greenamyer eventually settled in. The car won a few races. Greenamyer still owns the car as it sits in a warehouse somewhere. |

Notes: Bob qualified #25 at Indy 1972 with a 6.654/207.85. He lost to Tom McEwen in round one, 6.372/220.58 to 6.742/186.72. That was his only NHRA national event of the year. In October, he was the other car in the match race at Keystone Raceway when Tommy Ivo ran the 5.97. Bob ran 6.82/212 in the first and third rounds, while Tommy ran 6.03/225, 6.25/227, and 5.97/230 to win the match and run the sport's first 'five.' |

He qualified for the 8-car field with 7.27, getting eliminated by low qualifier Tom McEwen in the first round. Tied for Top Speed at the Indy with a non-qualifying 223.76 mph. Best ET for the car was a 6.95 at OCIR in October. Ayres stayed with the car through early 1968 until Steve Carbone returned after a stint driving for Pete Robinson. |

Notes: Ray Ayres' original car owner was Bill Hermes. Hermes tried to drive the car himself after Ayres left, but to no avail. He put John Martin from the Savage into the seat for the rest of the year. |
