Notes: Dave was in New England for an eight-car unlimited Pro Stock race in June. He set Low ET while qualifying #1 with an 8.68 at 153. In the opening round of eliminations, Scott Shafiroff fouled against him, and his 8.71/149 advanced. A semifinal 8.76/153 beat Ken Dondero's 8.77/154. He went up against Joe Satmary in the final, and the AMC campaigner ran 8.76/153 for the victory over Satmary's 8.89/153. Shortly after that, he was in Milan for a six-car show. All cars there were to run three rounds. Dave's 8.75/154 defeated Gary Dyer's 9.05 in his first race. He beat Wayne Gapp's 8.87 in the second race with an 8.71/153, and he went undefeated in the third round by running another 8.71 over Gapp, who lost a door off his Mustang II on the run. |

Notes: Glidden started the '73 season at Beeline Dragway in Arizona for the AHRA Winternationals. It was a sixteen-car field and Bob qualified #7 with a 9.40/146.10. He beat Lynn Harrison in the first round, with another 9.40 at 144.92, but in round two, he missed a shift while racing eventual winner Don Nicholson and slowed to 14.68/84.90. The NHRA Winternationals at Pomona featured a 32 car field and a 9.63/143.76 qualified Glidden #14. Began year in the red car that was an old Gapp & Roush machine and debuted a new Pinto with red, white & blue paint at the Columbus National Open with a win, setting a new track record at 9.05. Won Indy Nationals running a best of 9.033 number one qualifier and setting MPH record of 152.54. Also ran 9.02 at Beech Bend. Bob hit best times of 8.950/152.80 at NHRA Ontario, where he finished runner up to Wayne Gapp. The speed was a new national record. Sold to John Lingenfelter. |
